Why do some of the new survivor animations look so unnatural and clunky?
Most of the new survivor animations look great, and are definitely an improvement to the old ones. However, the running animations just look weird. Especially running while injured, it just looks clunky and weird. The limp that survivors had while they were injured is gone, and they just run completely still now, it looks really unnatural.
I hope these get tweaked further before the update comes out, because it just looks really clunky, and it doesn't suit the game.

I don't know about you people but when i see a meg standing upright completly still staring at me from a distance i get way more chills then any killer gave me

I would say it also feels slightly restricted. Turning my character or running around a loop felt like I was in less control when I was trying it.

They needed to nerf survivors but they couldn't nerf loops anymore so they invented the new locomotion

A friend of mine came up with a theory when playing the PTB yesterday.
What if the new animations could somehow be tied to lore? Look at the current survivor models, standing still and moving around? Cautious, scared...now look at the new animations, they look focused, still scared but it's as if they know what the situation is...and what is happening around them.
I'm not a big fan of the new animations, besides the pick yourself up animation. But I like the idea of them being tied to the lore even if it's far fetched.

Survivor turnspeed isn't affected by the new animations according to the devs.

Nothing compared to male characters with their Chad stride. Literally giving me Terminator vibes of Arnold walking up to me to deliver an ass kickery T-800 style.
Otoh, the male running animation looks like an out-of-shape middle-aged man going for a jog.

They can say whatever they want but if i play the ptb (which i did) and turnspeed is affected their statement is false. You get a stagger every time you turn, moving as survivor feels horrible and i don't think i would be able to play this game as much as i used to because everything feels so uncomfortable.
Looking at the hud gives me motion sickness and it never happened to me so i doubt i will ever get used to it.
I really don't get the reason of changing stuff which noone ever asked for.
I stopped playing billy after his rework not much for all of his addons nerfs and oh mechanic but because of his new animations. I have spent almost 5k hrs in this game and i can say my investment already paid off so if they'll leave the new survivor's animations like this i won't even think twice about quitting.
And i am not that kind of crybaby that would quit because they stole my toys or i cant win easily anymore but because playing in the ptb feels VERY uncomfortable. The only good thing is the idle animation of survivors, that's something they should keep

You can ask people to adapt to new balance status or new mechanics, you cannot ask people to adapt to something that hurt their eyes

Well most people seem to dislike the new HUD and animation changes so chances are they're not going live anyways.

I agree, some of the new animations are great, like crouching or dying state. I also like how it looks when you get back up from dying state. These ones were done well, however, the walking, standing and injured animations are clunky, look unnatural and feel wrong when playing. Also, I'm not sure if it's the new animations or typical latent hits/hitboxes but it looks like the killers can hit you from far away now. For example I had a game where I was, what seemed a decent distance from a killer in a chase, where they should not have been able to hit me, but when they swung they did hit me. This happened in multiple other games as well, in fact I think it happened at least once in all of the other matches I played as well.

I think the running looks a lot better - not sure about when injured. The old animation had the movements of the arms backwards, making their momentum look off.
I'm hoping that these animation changes are going to prevent PC players from being able to make such weird and erratic movements - sometimes they move in ways that shouldn't be possible, like they're being swung around from the tip of a pole.

The survivor stance and walk action is so bad that's true if you want guys u can see my discussion for that https://forum.deadbydaylight.com/en/discussion/comment/1871036#Comment_1871036

Idk ive tried to 360 multiple times and it doesnt seem to be working anymore. Guess the devs were tired of it?

Well, if BHVR has set a precedent on anything is that they're more than willing to push broken patches to live while ignoring feedback.

I too think turning is affected. Just quoted the devs on that topic anyways but it certainly does look like survivors can't wildly spin around with those new animations.
One way to test it would be Punishment Of The Damned from a few meters. On a good ping survivors can literally just move out of the red glowing area before the shockwave hits them.
If the new animations slow down survivor turning then the shockwave should hit everytime even out in the open.

They look so robotic that it's amazing it even made it Into the PTB. there's no natural fluidity in the run cycle, no bobbing of the character model.
Plus the idle animation... why in the everlasting [BAD WORD] did they make them stand straight up? Not only does it not fit the lore of the game, where the survivors are supposed to be terrified of the killers. But it looks so unnatural that it's borderline uncanny valley. It also looks too close to a t-pose, like it is unfinished even in the PTB.
Just... how did they think the running and idle animations were better than the original?

Or they had too much time on their hands and decided they should do same changes that no one ever asked for.

Survivors look like they are running to the bathroom while injured. ahhaa

I mean i'm pretty sure there's a long list of issues they should look into if they're bored and have some free time

Yeah that's what I mean. I thought sarcasm was pretty obvious on that sentence. Apparently it wasn't.

It might be sarcasm but they really think that they can afford to do other stuff in their free time
