Penalty system for survivors that kill themselves on hook

like ffs, i swear to god every other game im in has AT LEAST one guy kill himself on the hook, first hook, despite the fact that people are coming. This game NEEDS something to punish this behavior apart from a report system that dosent work.

If someone does it once every 30 games, it's probably an accident. If it happens every 3 games then it's a bit more obvious.

If people go from intentionally suiciding 1/30 games rather than 1/3 games, then we all see 10x less suicide on hook.

    Maffs.

If this ever happens, BHVR would need to fix everything that drops FPS then cause one fps drop on console and you will stop struggling

FPS drops from triggers in the game kill me frequently. Console and low end pc players would no longer be able to play because the devs won't optimize the game.

Fair enough, I didn't realise. Since seeing the other posts on just removing the struggle, I agree that's a much better solution.

No, I'm not gonna dc. I will give the killer his bbq stack and then I'm out.

And they already threw the game themselves by going down in 30 seconds, so why bother staying or take a penalty?

Like a DC won't throw the game lol.

Give him the stack and then D/C. Killing yourself on hook is just as bad as D/Cing, don't kid yourself!

At the minute, the punishment is the infuriating queue times.

Maybe they thought they were just gonna do down again after getting off the hook and don't want the killer to get more bps.

    Would it be acceptable to:

    1) remove the struggle mechanic to just hold the button down vs spam it?

    and

    2) remove the base-ability to self-unhook?

Re: #2, my thought is it's pretty frickin rare to self-unhook anyway, even with Slippery Meat, right? So, with the exception of Deliverance perk (100% chance to unhook after a safe unhook), would it be a bad thing to just remove self-unhooking altogether? This way, you can't suicide on hook. Obviously, if you don't like the game you're in, you could just afk after the first hook and die there whether someone saves you or not, but at least the suiciding is prevented. Additionally we could remove struggle phase too and just make it two normal phases that a survivor has to sit through.

    No.

There's already DC penalties. You can not punish people further than that, and you can not force people to play the game.

The problem with the first hook kill is that people use it when they want to disconnect but also want to avoid the DC penalty if they close the game, The ones who actually do it intentionally are the ones advocating against it being penalized and they got big numbers so I don't think they will ever implement a penalty against it.

just rework hooks to be similar to PH cages so people can't suicide

They should actually remove the button mashing. It is a stupid game design that can fail by accident more often than not. It adds nothing to the game.

Why the hell do you people care so much about people purposely leaving the game. You guys love to but into people's business

A dead unwilling to play right survivor is better than a live unwilling to play survivor. No change of mechanic will make a difference.

When i hook suicide, its usually because my team is just bad, usually they are hookfarming, unhooking you in front of the killer without regards how you get out of this situation, 4 hooks with noone working on a gen, people doing noise to alert the killer because you found the hex totem and they want the points, and the list goes on. If it happens to you that often, maybe you are just a bad teammate, and people dont want to play with you.

    Yep.

Nothing like running the killer for long enough for 2-3 gens to get done, just to go on the hook and see all 3 of your team mates crouching and hiding as if the killer is somehow patrolling every generator simultaneously.

    EZ 1st hook suicide.

Trying to yeet yourself off a hook is part of the game. It doesn't matter the reason why.

Not spamming "struggle" is a choice for the survivor to make. To die quickly to give another a chance at the hatch is one reason for doing so.

Just had two games in a row where a duo attempted escape straight away and then didn't struggle. Didn't even get a chance to save them...like just go play a game where if you rage quit it doesn't affect anyone else.

I don't care if he gives the killer the BBQ stack or not, my point is him suiciding on hook is no better than D/Cing and he's kidding himself if he thinks there is a difference.

I just gotta say that I had to morbidly chuckle at this one "system to detect intentionally suicides and accidental ones" I know it can happen but the idea of an "ACCIDENTAL SUICIDE" is weird to hear... but I really do back you on this post you are correct in many things here THANK YOU!

Oh my you found the real problem here! yes you did and you know exactly how to know another person's mind OH PLEASE SHARE! we all want to steal the patent for this device to know this! oh yes.... lets punish people for using in match functionality. you have a choice to struggle or not, you have a choice to try and get yourself off the hook. if you didn't then slippery meat would not work nor would deliverance! but yes let's blame people for their choices without knowing anything more. please tell us more of your "CUNNING" plan to stop giving people choices.

really? you sure? how much time can be before your ideas reset? so if i play one survivor game a day i can do this every day without question? what about if i play survivor then killer then survivor? will it stop because i've only played 2 survivor games within 3 games? how about I play 15 killer games, 1 survivor game and then the next day i play 2 survivor games at the start will that trigger your system? AGAIN this is IN MATCH functionality where a player can choose to do something or not, you can not penalize that otherwise will you then punish a survivor for blowing a gen too many times? can't have more than 1 missed skill check in a match! nope gotta be good at that if you miss two or more you're penalized! WOO HOO!

  • Freki
    Freki Member Posts: 1,903

sure we'll remove button mashing, you can't try to get off of hooks, lets invalidate two perks for this. and you get to hang on the hook for two whole minutes... snoooze fest! oh and if you say lets do skill checks.. sure... miss a skill check you loose the struggle and are sac'd tothe entitiy.... so what? you want to make people play your way.... make your own game, market it and see if it sits well with people.

    Freki Member Posts: 1,903

it is better 1) survivors have the chance to keep working and the killer is distracted where as the killer isn't distracted if the survivor d/c's. 2) survivors have the chance for a save of their own, 3) it's not using in match functionality to d/ct but it is using in match functionality to try and get off the hook. These are all positives not negatives.

Or accept that you don't have the right to tell others how to play. Most hook suicides are because of their ######### team. They should not be penalized because their team sucks.

As few others suggested, just rework hook stages. Much better solution then unneeded punishmets.

That's not a penalty system for survivors giving up on hook, it's a penalty system for BHVR. If they do what you ask many people will stop playing the game, costing them money from future DLCs and skins.

    So it will never happen.

What is so wired about accidental suicides in this game? I for one use a keyboard makro to struggle, and yet i sometimes die on the hook by accident, because the game didnt register or some connection were lagging.

  • Freki
    Freki Member Posts: 1,903

just the IDEA of an accidental suicide... usually it's intentional... i was being glib here! I don't use a macro and even with carpal tunnel it doesn't hurt becuase i don't slam my space bar nor do i hit it fast. i keep with a rhythm and hit it only enough to register and i rarely miss unless i get distracted.

The simple solution is to make the hook automated and get rid of space tapping.

  • Ink_Eyes
    Ink_Eyes Member Posts: 561

    Yep

If you start amatch then be ready to play it instead of running away and leaving, pretty sure you are the type of player who disconects, so I would mark you as a bad player in my book. And since I paid for my game by your logic I shouldn't be subject to bad players who disconnect since players who do ruin 3 other players experience, you can also whine about it when you pay for my time, that you ruined when you disconected, and running from a match just because you don't like how other people play is not a ''legitimate death'' if you run away from your the slightest of challenges is cowardice...

  • Kirkylad
    Kirkylad Member Posts: 1,927

Imo they should only give you one chance to escape the hook and increase the % that you can escape then not make you have to button mash to struggle. If not though then you can't ban people for doing something that's built into the game either remove it or deal with the fact people are going to use it to leave a match if they want to.

I die accidentally all the time because I mess up the rhythm button mashing. Second state is terrible and should've been fixed a long time ago.

A Suicider is penalized, in the sense that they then die and cease to receive further BP for that match.

stop trying to force people to be in matches they dont wanna be in anymore in a casual game that a lot of people play for like 30 mins once every week damn

A lot of the time people accidentally kill themselves on hook due to lag, not spamming enough, health reasons in their wrist which makes it painful or simply their wrist / arm locks up, or simply forgetting to lmao and they tab out to look at something. These are just a few reasons people don't think about. A common one tho is people killing themselves cause they don't like being against that killer, their teammates are useless or they keep being farmed, tunneled or camped.

It happened to me 5 times yesterday in about 15 games because of frame issues. Unless they remove struggle button mashing all together, a penalty for suiciding on hook is just stupid.

look I get it, but think about it, what will happen if a survivor cant let themselve die on the hook?

they will get unhooked and just stand there, they will go afk, get a cup of tea or something, wont fix the game either.

its more important to fix as best you can why people decide to dip out
