Kill Switch update: We have temporarily Kill Switched the Forgotten Ruins Map due to an issue that causes players to become stuck in place. The Map will remain out of rotation until this is resolved.

Arising map issues

I wonder if a Dev or someone from BHVR could answer the following question; What is the current situation on map design?

I understand chosen maps are getting visually and mechanically updated to look realistic and provide fair gameplay to both Killers and Survivors. I appreciate the work to these and hope they continue at the rate they’re being done.

However, I’ve noticed more flaws (or bugs) occurring in the older maps.

I’ve started encountering more “gaps” in-game, areas that look as though a player can fit through but can’t. Whenever I encounter these, I either get stuck and take a hit or waste time and lose a player I’m chasing.

There are more totems spawning in inaccessible locations. Sometimes this is not a problem if no Hex is in play or the Hex spawns elsewhere, but when a glowy-boi does spawn there you know the match isn’t going to end well.

And I’m finding discrepancies between physical interactions when running into/along them. Sections of loops/walls that are smooth on one area but can hinder your movement on another despite being visually similar.

There has been an increase of the level design not fitting the aesthetics and objects spawning in ways that are causing problems. From major problems (see above), to minor inconveniences (such as gens appearing to have an open side but you can’t interact with it).

Are existing maps being looked into and maintained or are more resources being dedicated to new/reworking select maps?
