Why I think the devs should consider giving Wraith windstorm as base kit
Why they should: He still needs a little something to really help him
Wraith, even after his buff in the PTB, still needs at least a windstorm addon to play effectively. In fact, he needs another part of his power to help him in a chase.
The buff he got was great, really good in fact. Amazing even. It will finally allow him to sneak up on survivors in more open maps (although he is still pretty easy to see on the PTB, I think it will be fixed though). Look at a map like bloodlodge in autohaven. Before, you could see him across the map while cloaked. Now, he can actually get at close to survivors without them seeing him. This was a really good buff and was definitely needed.
However, Wraith right now even with the buff he got, is still very addon dependent, even with this buff.
But imagine if you could play him without addons. He would be a much better killer, decent at least, and not overwhelmingly strong even with the stronger addons.
I think they should at the least consider him getting purple windstorm as base. I hope they do because after this PTB, they will probably not touch upon him for a really long time.
Note: His other windstorm addons could be nerfed accordingly, or maybe even changed completely.

I would like it to be base kit. He is too reliant on add-ons.

Agreed

I mean if he did get addons as base he might be really strong/frustrating when this buffed wraith uses addons. Purple is too much I feel. A little lower value than green might be a decent start.

Yeah i wouldn't mind it, giving him a green windstorm addon as base kit would be nice but they would also have to reduce the values of his windstorm addons so they still give similar speed as they do now.

Purple is only 5% faster than green, so I think it would be fine.
But yeah, I can see the other addons being a bit strong so they could be adjusted accordingly or even changed.

Yeah, I edited the post. I said to change values accordingly or even change their effect enrirely.

Yeah, those things are also good little buffs that they should probably have had already.

I've been thinking of this, you remember how every pig ran combat straps back in the day? You don't see a wraith without windstorm addons.
They need to make windstorm base kit then balance the addons accordingly

A lot of pigs still run the combat straps these days actually. Myself included.
But that Wraith statement is a fact.

The sad reality (I hope not)

He moves 5.06m/s while cloaked. Why would base stats need to be faster than that?
1 -
Because an 11% increase in base movement speed while cloaked is nothing. It is as good as the Clown's movement speed bottle being used for travel. Which is bad btw.

I think purple is pretty reasonable. Yellow is decent at best. The order from yellow to purple windstorm speed increase from his addons include the following: 15%, 20%, and 25%. With purple, I feel like that should be the one to be chosen since his other ones are going to have to be adjusted if this is the case. If green was base kit, the devs would have to nerf the other ones which would make yellow almost useless and purple equal to the old green or worse.

I've never had issue with Wraiths cloaked speed. This is actually the first time I've ever seen someone claiming it too slow.
1 -
Really? Lots of other people have mentioned how slow it is. That is one of the reasons he is so addon dependent.
1 -
They did that about a year or 2 ago

I mean along side wraith trapper bag basekit when?

Maybe, I would be decently satisfied if yellow was made base kit, but I know the differences in strength with the two since I have played a lot more Wraith. The reason I say purple is because Wraith is still a weaker killer with purple windstorm. When I destroy a team as Wraith while using the purple windstorm addon, I chalk it up to "oh, I guess the mmr screwed them over." And I am right most of the time. However, purple windstorm against even a decent or average team becomes more challenging. I want purple to be base kit, or at the least green or yellow, because he becomes more viable against better survivors.
Yellow base kit is equivalent to 3 stacks of bloodlust or PWYF. It is very strong in a chase, but not exactly map mobility kind of speed. I am not saying that Wraith needs to be as fast as blight or billy, but I do want him to just be below them in terms of speed. Purple feels just about right to me. Not too fast, to avoid over buffing him and not too slow.

I have barely made it to bodyblock a survivor with the green and purple addon. I did forget about the initial 11% increase though. I guess it wouldn't be that bad, but I just feel like purple would be better to have. Again, if they buffed him to have yellow windstorm as base kit, I think I would be satisfied.
I need to try for myself to see the difference between the yellow and purple addon. I am not going to count ormond or mother's dwelling as a map to use these on since they are massive. But, I a map like coal tower or another macmillan estate map seems like a good map to use yellow and purple windstorm addons. I want to do this to see if purple is just needed to play Wraith's hit and run playstyle. If I can still effectively travel through the map with yellow windstorm, I will be much more satisfied with yellow being base kit. I will try it out on different maps later today.

I think they should go for Yellow Windstorm base, not Purple Windstorm base, but yes. That alone would go a long way toward making addonless Wraith not terrible.
1 -
Oh me too, I still run combat straps but I just think that even if it's not yellow windstorm wraith should be almost as fast as it without addons.

Alright, I did try the yellow windstorm addon a few games on Autohaven and Macmillan only (I sent myself there). I came to the conclusion that the yellow addon was just slightly underwhelming. I felt like I was speeding up when cloaking, but it wasn't really enough to move around the map.
