Killer main alert. I've found the magnum opus.
I have been sweating in dbd for 5 years now. I've crafted the ultimate formula for having fun in this game. I've finally figured it out.
i come from a heavy comp background and let me say, this game isnt it.
i've finally come to terms that this game should just be a fun party game at best. I have been grinding huntress for like 3 years and have been exhausted, irritated, salty, i wanted this game to be comp so bad, but it just isnt that kind of game.
Have fun. Literally let go of everything and just play.
thats the key to happiness as killer in dbd.

Wut? You're just now figuring this out?

Absolutely. I grew up in this game as a surv main, and switched to killer when my group got tired. I was taught to try hard all the time, and killer has the stress that comp does. I guess it felt natural (^:

Don't let wannabe peace mongers make you feel weird for getting stressed about this game. Playing killer here is probably the most stressful experience in a game besides getting raided in long term survival games. It's perfectly natural.
Glad you've found away to just brush it aside tho. Good on you

Try harding as a killer was your first mistake, maybe whoever taught you wasn't a true killer main. Playing a killer is all about psychological warfare, just like a killer in real life in one of those crime sagas, an intelligent one anyway or a bird hunting weak prey. The goal isn't to kill the survivors. The goal is to exploit their natural human tendencies and weaknesses. In this way, they kill themselves. Be it a vice, greed, arrogance, pride and the like. Its an A symmetrical game where you play a psychopath. Manipulating people, and on occasion stabbing them. Its every horror writers perfect dream. To have access to a tool like this where they could interact with the human element, and for 10 minutes try to think like A KILLER!
From an actual killers perspective, you've seen it in most horror films and crime docs, they try to get into the heads of their victims. Everything they do has a casual purpose. While the victim is screaming their heads of panicking the killer is calm....happy, and sometimes smiling. Because they're in control, they're having fun, playing with their food. The same thing happens in this game, each survivor is another human being, with flaws. Every action you take elicits a response, a predictable one. If you're a threat and you walk away, it makes the mind second guess what just happened, if you stab one of their friends it forces them to calculate a response, if someone is arrogant because they think they have a tool to use against you, their eagerness to use it will often overcome their logic to use it at the right time. A person who's prideful and thinks they know everything suddenly freezes up when you move a different way and they can't calculate a response. And a person who's considered "the good guy" is the best bait for any trap you could ever lay, because the people around them will immediately try to save the innocent little lamb.
Thats the fun part, playing as an actual psychopath would emulate. You'll win a majority of your matches, and have enough breathing room to have "fun". You let go of everything ^ because you're not even trying....the survivors do it to themselves and thus....the fun begins.
Practice that style long enough and the games a cakewalk....just....don't dive too deep into it and become an actual psychopath.

^took ya long enough but yes, it is just that, it does not matter if you walk backwards half the game or hug every tree in the level, so you de-rank, so what? you never lose any bp and you dont earn less playing at lower ranks, it does not matter at all.

Yeah I feel this game is more like Mario party than CoD. The fun in killer is playing with your food.
