I don't know, but you can find out with this recipe!
- ¼ cup shortening
- 1 ½ cups diced pork loin
- 1 cup diced onion
- 1 cup diced celery
- 1 cup hot water
- 1 teaspoon salt
- ⅛ teaspoon ground black pepper
- 1 (14.5 ounce) can bean sprouts, drained and rinsed
- ⅓ cup cold water
- 2 tablespoons cornstarch
- 2 teaspoons soy sauce
- 1 teaspoon white sugar
- Step 1
- Heat shortening in a large, deep skillet. Sear pork until it turns white, then add onion and sauté for 5 minutes. Add celery, hot water, salt and pepper. Cover skillet and simmer for 5 minutes. Add sprouts and heat to boiling.
- Step 2
- In a small bowl combine the cold water, cornstarch, soy sauce and sugar. Mix together and add to skillet mixture. Cook for 5 minutes, or until thickened to taste.

Did I just have a stroke?

As a matter of fact, I did!

I'm tempted to try it but I know i'll somehow end up burning down a house or comitting several war crimes in doing so.

I prefer using butter or olive oil over shortening. Shortening works well but it lacks a flavor depth. Rice vinegar is a bit tastier than white vinegar but both work great.

those are good alternative, I should have listed them.

Also, i love the fact that no one cares about the big title instead they care about the small sentence.

I think the person who posted this had a stroke when they wrote "Complaint it"

If you want American Chop Suey...
Ingredients
- 1 + ½ lbs. ground beef, 85% lean
- 2 teaspoons Italian seasoning
- 2 teaspoons seasoned salt
- ½ teaspoon garlic powder
- 3 Tablespoons tomato paste
- 1 cup diced onion
- 1 cup diced green pepper
- 1 stick celery, diced
- 4 cloves garlic, minced
- 3 Tablespoons Worcestershire sauce
- 14.5 oz. diced tomatoes, undrained
- 16 oz. tomato sauce
- 2 ½ cups chicken broth, or beef broth
- 2 cups elbow macaroni
- 1 cup shredded cheddar cheese, optional
Instructions
- Note: if adding cheese, shred it from a block and set aside before you begin. It shouldn’t be cold when added to the pot. Refrain from packaged shredded cheese if possible as it contains cellulose which prevents it from melting well.
- Brown beef in a large pot over medium heat until cooked through. Drain grease.
- Mix in seasonings and tomato paste.
- Add in onions, peppers, and celery cook for 4 minutes. Add garlic and cook for 1 minute.
- Mix in the tomato sauce until combined.
- Stir in the Worcestershire sauce, undrained diced tomatoes and chicken broth.
- Add the macaroni, stir to combine. Bring to a light and gentle boil.
- Cover for 4 minutes. Uncover and run a silicone spatula along the bottom. Gently lift up anything that is settled on the bottom.
- Cover partially and boil gently for 4 more minutes. Run a silicone spatula on the bottom again.
- Heat for 1-2 more minutes or until macaroni is cooked through. Turn off heat. The pasta will continue to absorb remaining liquid.
- If desired, gradually sprinkle cheese on top and stir to combine.
