Why does the PTB restrict you?
Why does the PTB restrict access to killers/survivors and such? The point of a PTB is to test new updates, and with the PTB not being up 100% of the time. I don't see why they wouldn't have everything unlocked(To specify i mean KILLERS unlocked. Not bloodweb related things) so more people can actually test the coming updates? Many other games do this as well since their PTB isn't up all the time so its not like people can just play on the PTB permanently to circumvent actually getting the characters and such themselves.
Was just curious if there was a proper reasoning behind this/the potential for it to be changed since logically there is little to no reason.

With how quickly the PTB is abandoned by the players, I don't know why they would waste resources keeping it up. Usually it dies after a few days. I mean, if you could get something from being their beta testers like BP , maybe it would be worth playing.

Because most players would only test their regular builds. Having to go through bloodweb to open up perks/items creates more scenarios to test. Has also helped find bugs in bloodweb.

Full perk the new killer and some copies of every addon. Why do we need to waste time leveling a killer to test? None of that progress goes to your live save.

For clarification im referring to having access to the Killers that you havent paid for.
Not bloodweb related things

I think the guy above suggesting the 1 mil BP code for PTB use only is a good idea. New code for every PTB.
We have asked for things before and they said no; but never explained why or given a reason as to why.

There's no need for a code. It can be built into the ptb build itself.

I was more referring to the fact that Killers are locked if you haven't paid for them in the live servers.

Maybe. Whatever is easier, I am not a programmer so I can't argue nor agree with you.

Even if all killers were unlocked, most people would dc if you aren't playing the new killer.

the ptb uses your account information to determine what you have access too. so if you don't have lori but have unlocked DS from the shrine you get DS but not laurie. so it's just simple to copy the accounts over to the ptb instead of having anything special going on. the PTB is updated then the accounts are copied over and then the ptb is launched on steam. this is why it's like that, much simpler to do and give you the access, they do however take the extra step to unlock the new survivor/killer when a dlc is coming out. why do need to play freddy if you didn't buy him on the real servers? none...

Would actually be a nice way for people who haven't gotten around to it or are new to try out other Killers and see who they want to buy first.
So there is a reason lol

Great place to do that, where there isn't even a small bit of trying to match people properly, and such a lower player base and it only opens up for 3 days to 1 week every 1.5 months? not a good way to do that to be honest.

But the point of the PTB is for users to test out NEW content, the reason they don't let you try every killer (or survivor) for free is because they need feedback on the NEW one, they don't want you to use the PTB to test wether you like Freddy or not, they want to see if the new killer works fine
We used to have a secret offering that let you play as a perkless licensed killer, but then they got rid of that, I believe for licensing reason, and that sucks

And it was really buggy. Either it was not working or it unlocked the killer for the rest of the play session, letting you grind out the payed perks for free.

At some point it was bugged, yes, but they were working fine up to (maybe) Ghostface release I think?
Anyway, the splinter concept was really cool IMHO, and it's a shame they're gone
