Why is there so much hate between console and pc players?

Every place I go to that has people talking about or playing dbd there is this console or pc hate. both console and pc players always say their side is more superior or that the other side is bad. when I ask people why they always talk about some personal experience where the crossplay player was bad or made a really bad play that cost them the game ,but I have seen the same thing on non crossplay players so why would their experience be anymore valid than mine. I understand why people come to this opinion but I don't understand why people push it on others and make fun of or attack the other side.

I think its a stupid stereotype that one player just copys from the next, and then seeks only confirmation in his games.

I actually tried the game with crossplay off, and in my opionion there is next to no difference.

in theory, on pc you could coordinate, but even if i tell the team what build i run beforehand or what strategy i use, half the people either dont read the chat or dont care (in a few cases even starting to screw me over, making my perks useless by intent).

In addition, console might have issues with things like lower frame rates, but if you dont have a very confrontational playstyle, that doesn´t have to play a role. (bad players just might take it as an excuse, and it gets carried on).

usually, i am one of the better players in my team, and i recoginze those who know how to play. And i seen some very good console players, and very bad ones. In the end, it comes down to the matching system, not the platform they play on.

I honestly don’t understand the mindset, other than one platform has a better advantage than the other.

If people want to play with their own platform peeps, that’s fine. But, the issue comes when they truly believe there’s a shared behavior on each. All PC players do this, all console players do that, all XboX players are this and that, etc.

Some people notice a difference in crossplay, I guess.

Others don’t and are just glad to have faster que times.

I've found PC players are more communicatively toxic. Console players are more toxic in action. One is far more easily ignored than the other.

Also, console players are typically more selfish in their use of map resources. Since there is no interaction with other players, I feel like they play a 1vAll game and are generally less cooperative. This is not all-encompassing though. I've had console survivors who have looped the crap out of PC killers and gotten flashlight saves on me in solo queue. Generally speaking though, the game is generally poorer and more difficult in solo queue due to the addition of console players.

    1. Queue times for both sides. Survivor queue times has increased for PC. Queue times for ppl who don't want crossplay have increased.

    2. Ego: ppl think they're really good at the game but there's a cheap reason why they're losing. So u blame others. PC survivors blame console survivors for sucking. Console players blame PC for hacking. Console survivors blame PC killers for being advantaged compared to console killers. PC survivors blame console killers for tunneling and camping cuz bad. Console killers blame PC survivors for being tryhards compared to console survivors, even though console killers have it harder.

    3. For fun/memeing/ joking/ trolling. Self explanatory I think.

I’m a PC player and I’m happy to have the console players in the game. I’m very impressed with how skilled some of the console players are. No hate here!

Have you played with PC players? They're the biggest babies I've ever gamed with. They go down in seconds as most of 'em can't loop and then either dc or kill themselves on hook. And if they don't kill themselves on hook they're doing stupid stuff like searching chests when gens need to be popped. So, ya, not a fan. If it wasn't for the fact that PC killers are a challenge compared to console killers I'd be turning crossplay permanently off.

I play both pc and console just because you have had bad pc players doesn't mean that good ones don't exist. you're probably just getting unlucky or your playing in solo que and basically all of your teammates will be bad pc or console. Unless all of your non crossplay teammates don't do what you have said which btw I have seen console players do exactly this I think its just a matchmaking problem and not a crossplay problem.

I don't hate pc players as a whole, but I do hate playing against them. The only pc players I dislike are the ones that stereotype console players and say that all console players are bad.

I don't see much difference in survivors, the only difference i see is certain killers benefit greatly by m and k. I would say in order the most miserable to play on console vs pc:

    Nurse

    Blight

    Huntress

    Hillbilly

    Oni

Slinger (you can still quickscope at a fairly decent level on console)

    Victor

    Bubba

1/3 of the killer roster is negatively affected on console by lack of m and k. Its bs. Bhvr add support please.

The PC Vs Console war is as old as the Console War itself. Basically, people think their platform is best and so promote its advantages or, when they run out, ######### and complain about the rest, taking every little thing and blowing it out of proportion while pretending that it's everyone else that does it to them.

It is in no way limited to DbD. It isn't going away any time soon. Just try to ignore it.

IMO. If BHVR wasn't going to make the console version work as well as PC then they shouldn't have even released it on console.

PC player here. If anything, I dislike PC players more because they can trash talk me in the chat lmao. Never understood the hatred between platforms. Although I could understand console players not wanting to play with PC since a mouse is way better than a controller.

I dunno man like I understand the frustration of console players who are good. But when all of my games with "crossplay" survivors consist of decisions like these it colors my view on how good they are as a whole.

Let alone crossplay killers. Those are only really noticeable when they miss as a survivor does a 360.

I don't really see these arguments and I personally have nothing against console players but going to admit the most toxic and unfun people I've played with are all crossplay players on console. The only reason I don't turn off crossplay is because matchmaking times but I genuinely have not encountered such toxicity before crossplay and I genuinely never thought I'd say that considering how bad PC was with chat and such. Killers going out of their way to target and kill specific players for no reason and survivors squading up and purposely trying to extend the game to bully the killer instead of doing anything else.

Never experienced such boring or unfun games before crossplay.

Unrelated but didn't BHVR disable the option to opt out of crossplay?

A lot of pc players (survivors) have this superiority complex over console players when truth be told most are just as trash as teammates as console players are.

I see no difference between the two survivor wise.

Only difference from console to pc killer wise is obviously nurse and the rest are the same, you meet good ones you meet bad ones. System doesnt matter, skill levels do.

    Love you all.

Well, they're jealous of the lack of Toxicity in PS4 matches. You are a #########, Kind Young Sir.

In all seriousness I have no idea, my best guess has to be them being salty a console killer beat them, its not hard because when they try to 360 its clunky, unless they are red ranks or quite goo, and with a controller you have a full 360. Or you could stand still when they 360 to hit them normally.

The same reason Sports teams go back and forth about they're respective teams. Some Console and PC players both believe they're respective systems are superior then they're rival platforms. So they push it on the other side constantly, that's why years on in 2021 this debate is still on going.

Honestly? I just laugh it off, you have your corners and I have mine. At the end of the day we're all gamers, some people forget about this. I make it my goal to never forget

Without preconception, it is experience. Some people always getting offended by, thats how human kind works, it always was.

As i can see, 80% of the playerbase is way under average.

60% of them has a globe next to their name.

    40% dont.

When i encounter a player that is really good, they are mostly PC.

When a player has like 5-6k points in the end of the match, they are mostly console.

To make it simple, if you cant do gens and you go down within 3 secs, it does not matter you have a globe or not, you belong to the problematic 80%.

By the way, it is a funny fact this option is pretty much useless, since you get worse queue times with crossplay turned off than you had before when crossplay did not exist.

It seems the system does not prefer specific settings, console and pc are literally forced to play together, that leads the question to the poor matchmaking again.

Honestly, how often do you see a lobby with all 5 players are PC/console only?

Since crossplay exists...I cant remember any...maybe they were...but must have been damn rare...

If you are on console, how do you know that you are matched with PC players?

A Player on PC can be matched with players from Xbox, PS, Switch and Windows store. Only Windows store is on PC aswell and doesn't have a big playerbase as far as I know (I have never seen a crossplay icon when it used to be steam/Windows store only crossplay), so if a PC player is matched with a crossplay player, there is a high chance that it is a console player but that shouldn't work the other way around.

To my knowlegde both Xbox and PS have big playerbases (a poll in this forum came to the conclusion that about 1/3 play on PC, 1/3 on Xbox and 1/3 on PS, it's obviously hard so tell if the poll is representative or not) so it is likely that you are matched with players from a different console (or it might be a mixture of PC and Console).

I've heard that console is a bit more strict with names, but none of the names in your Video contained bad words (unless you count "dirty" but console isn't that strict, or is it?), so how do you know that you have been matched with PC?

true I don't know if they are pc players but the same logic applies to the first person who didn't even show if they were cross play and even then they could be on the window store. honestly I think our two examples are more of a match making issue than a cross play one. I just wanted to show how the same thing can happen to a console player.

I mean its to the point where I'm stockpiling games to make a series on my YouTube channel documenting console vs pc players on DbD. So, I wouldn't say I'm biased. I have plenty of evidence and I get more daily.

  • Orionbash
    Orionbash Member Posts: 765

Exactly as you said. You can tell by their names. Longer words, less restrictions. And if you're sitll unsure you can watch how they loop. PC players 360 differently than on console and is a dead giveaway.

I've seen some pretty bad PC players before we go pointing the whole useless finger around, there are great console survivor's on PS4 I've been facing them for 4 year's. PC have an advantage over console yes but skills vs skill always broil down to it in the end plus PC player's cheat console player's do it to.

  • Dwight_Fairfield
    Dwight_Fairfield Member Posts: 6,974

A couple of popular PC streamers perpetuate the hate. If they have a bad survivor or killer they will say "I bet this guy is console".

That is just spreading it and fanning the flames.

  • Patiencehero
    Patiencehero Member Posts: 54

Oh no, that absolutely wasn't what I meant by that - I meant that due to the limitations, if someone's on console, and their team loses, they're generally going to bear the brunt of the blame regardless of skill level. Even if the Console player was the best one out of the group, toxic players are generally going to scapegoat them. There's apparently a DBD streamer who does it CONSTANTLY.

That being said, a good survivor on console would still likely perform better on PC. But the only one I'm gonna point the finger at for that is the devs for not optimizing it better to be as even as possible.

Lets say you find the most talented pc players in Dbd.. there are console players that are equally skilled.

It’s like striving to be the worlds strongest or fastest.. there will always be people almost as good, equal, or even superior on any given day.

Most of the “this platform is better” talk is likely just parroting where it’s echoed about even if they’ve only tried one system or basing everything on a few experiences.

I don’t think it’s a big deal personally.. I’ve owned every platform/console over the years and one of the most common/amusing feuds over superiority is PlayStation vs Xbox but it’s meant to be a joke. It’s just personal preference.

When an issue actually exists.. that’s when someone truly believes they themselves are superior because they press R1 instead of RB or Space.. but that’s people for you.. some follow the beat of their own drum while others follow a herd and of course there are extremists as well..

I've never heard somebody say: "See how that player moves, they are definitely on console." so I'm a little skeptical that you claim to have this skill. Also I can't believe that you have the opportunity to observe how your teammates loop the killer every game. But even if you could reliably tell the difference: Some PC players prefer controllers, so you can never be 100% sure.

The mayority of the dbd players in my steam friendlist use short, non offensive names (variants of real life names, character names etc often paired with numbers), so they could be on console aswell.

Also, in my experience, the people that use offensive names are usually not the best players, so you might get a distorted view because the obvious cases of PC players are also not the best players.

So in short: Sorry, but I do not believe taht you can reliably seperate PC players from console players.
