Why don't more people play and learn Hag?

I don't understand why more people play Hag and properly learn her. Since most just chase you all game until the Noed kicks in then downs you camp you then place all her traps and wait till your dead. Sadly giving her a terrible rep. Hag is the only killer besides maybe Trapper. Where you don't have to worry about generators going off quickly. You can relax most of the game. A common complaint of people are gen speeds Hag doesn't worry about that. And she comes with a powerful power done right. She can shut down all loops something only a few can do. Her power compared to other setups is a breeze although Freddy snares are still quicker. She can defend the three gen easiest. Her power is unique is that why? People are so use to having to go all over the place that Hag is to different for them. Hag requires to much in game knowledge which loops survivor will use the most. Some maps can be weaker for her large maps. But Nurse is weaker on indoor maps. People don't like waiting so long for the action. Don't want to react so quickly. Someone please tell me.

You say that like she isn't one of the strongest killers in the entire game; behind only like Freddy, Spirit and Nurse maybe.

I would not say one of the major tournament picks is "Only good for camping"

Yeah, because she’s so boring to play. I remember one time I played Hag I played I legit got a headache during the game I was so bored. Switched to Spirit the game after and my headache vanished.

She’s not a hard killer to play at all, her kill rate is just so low because many people don’t understand how to play her correctly. They try to start chasing survivors immediately which is not what you want to do as Hag. As long as you understand where to place traps, there’s not much else to learn.

Because she has a boring playstyle. Set up traps, Teleport to traps, Hit survivors and repeat. It just gets boring very fast.

I much prefer to play the Trapper. Even if it means setting traps, I find it much more satisfying to hear a survivor put his foot on a bear trap and come to pick it.

corrupt is essential imo, whether or not you are playing against one of the more gungho swf, for the hag because you have to her traps up. That probably turns a lot of people off, along with having to develop the alertness and reflexes and quick judgement to get the hang of jumping to the traps well. Effective placement, and driving survivors to the traps is also very important with her and she requires more planning and thinking than a lot of people may want to deal with. I see a lot of the bad ones just spamming 3 and sometimes 4 (lmfao, no bs) traps around the hooks and not using them much otherwise. I imagine it's much smarter placing them in one thoughtful spot around a hook to direct the escape movement or slow survivors coming in for the save. some good ones place them not directly around it and wind up catching you or the other guy on the escape when not careful some ways off in places like between trees where you might try and creep or cut through.

Not gonna lie, I had a pretty rough time getting used to it the first couple of times I tried her for an older rift. I bet some chess players might really enjoy hag. I fought what felt like solos thankfully and only cared that I got my quest done and not whether or not I killed everybody or anybody lol. But I can imagine a lot of people have a very rough game the first time they try some killers like nurse or hag and just get turned off of them, not wanting to bother getting the hang of it (maybe drastically changing their playstyle) while dealing with rough matches and just go back to the kilelr they're already comfortable with. I'm surprised more people don't play doctor, since he basically gets a free perk slot with his power helping find anybody not using calm spirit or smart enough to avoid his threat radius until he's blown static. They do need to be able to catch people of course because he's m1 when the power is down, but he's a great killer to start out with imo.

For me personally, I'm not a fan of Hag because she's a bit too pigeon holed. She has to play super defensive with traps and taking nearly any chase is a very bad idea. I like defensive killers, but... I like having options and Hag doesn't give those options.

Ok, and just because she is strong how does that change that I think her playstyle is boring?

Sure she can chase and spam traps at every loop if the situation is desperate.

I will play her once in a blue moon but I definitely prefer chase oriented killers.

Probably because people don't understand how to set up correctly, forgets to reset triggered traps, chasing too much with her etc. Of course Hag is fun to play it's one of my favourite killers probably top 3.

Don't see many red rank Hags on console, the few I do mostly have mastered her and are very leathal. I think it has to do with not being able to get insta-hits when you teleport, as the frame drops pretty much won't allow it, and the survs gain distance.

Not many people like the defensive playstyle

I know i would rather lose a game full of action then win a 10 minute 3 gen situation as hag

She is very strong but the playstyle just isn't for everyone

Strength and fun don't go hand in hand. A lot of the weaker killers are more fun to play than the A-tier killers, IMO. For example I find Freddy and Spirit really boring.

    I approve.

The killers who amuse me the most are paradoxically among the weakest. Trapper, Wraith, Demogorgon, Clown, Ghost Face ...

If you really like Hag, you would want less people to play her. The more that play Hag, the more likely BHVR will make slight tweaks to her.

That wasn't how it was worded though. Hell it was basically implied that she is boring because that is all she can do; which is not the case.

    That isn't what you said.

How so? She is a killer who needs intense prep time, and her traps can be disarmed with 0 effect unless you stay within a relatively close proximity to them.

No matter what her optimal playstyle is camping a small section of the map. And what is there to camp in DBD? Gens and hooks. I stand by what I said.

I like being able to move around the map and take chases freely. That’s why I find her boring. I haven’t watched any “tournament hags” but I bet they all just find a 3 gen and camp it because that’s how you play hag.

What hag used to do well in tournament games, twins now does a lot better.

She's mechanically easy as can be but requires you to do a lot of thinking. AKA the thing that most people don't want to do in this rather casual game about serial killers and survivors bullying each other.

A few comments saying she's dull but that's just not true.

Hag is about set up and prediction. You set up well and predict well the payoff is so good it feels oppressive and people scream to nerf her.

She doesn't need to mindlessly chase, when you've placed traps well then you pop about the map like mad and down multiple survivors.

Its a poor hag who puts ten traps around one hook. Its a well planned hag who hooks someone near pre-set traps and pops back for the hook trade if needed.

Bold careless survivors who want to just run around in circles holding W are the bread and butter of the Hag and there are a lot of them.

Yes walking around setting a trap at every loop and choke point is big brain predictions. The faster you can hit control the less good your placements need to be. Or you can put on rusty shackles and enjoy one of the games premier easy modes.

Actually placing traps at every loop and choke point isn't using your brain. Its precitable and less effective but hey you do you.

I'll continue to play her well ;)

I don't like the "set up" type of style. It's why I don't enjoy Hag or Trapper.

She's atrociously boring, and has nothing going for her but excelling at proxy-camping and drawing triangles on 1 half of the map and shutting down loops without even trying. Not a fan of that style of gameplay, I prefer actually interacting with the survivors and Hag doesn't do that. Demo is one of my favourite killers and has some setup to him, but once you place the first few portals in the areas that are important, it's then all about the chase and applying pressure that way.

Not much to "learn" aside from always placing phantasms by hooked survivors and predictable traffic areas.

Playing Hag is like the greatest test of.."Can these survivors learn my rules before they die" on the Killer side, she is very simple in terms of what she does..set traps and jumpscare people..However, simple does not mean braindead. However, you do get map control you also gotta consider how far you can go and still teleport to your traps. Which when you get into larger maps you are gonna be very Add-on reliant later down the road.

She is the reverse of freddy's problem..Freddy is braindead and survivors have to micromanage your Bs..With Hag you need to understand the math behind your items to use them fully and effectivity.

Hag is not glamerous or sexy (To most people) so you aint playing her for the appeal of Wafu legion or high ghost of Woobee. Your basically playing a muddy corpse with a long slapper for spanking behinds. So, not being hot will effect the amount of players.

A lot of what the Hag is very good at other killers can do..But,not in the way the hag does It..She can be in the middle of a chase and "poof" the guy trying to break her hex is now on the ground crying...You could run at the hook and think the killer will not find you then "proof" Jumpscares and a fist to the face.

She is map control without having to spam a teleport or have a overbearing cooldown..She marks areas she wants to keep locked down..And going to them is a very massive risk..Specially If she is chasing you.

Basically, she is not a wifu and she is not a chase ender/one shoter..So,she will have a limited player pool..But,like all people who pick the "oddballs" in games..Her few with follow her and main her..Are devoted.

I allways laugh when i see people saying that "Hag is actually difficult to play". ######### when i want to play with my brain turned off i just play Hag since the only thing i have to do is trap chokepoints and predicted paths, i don't even have to take chases or try to mindgame survivors. Corrupt intervention, trap everything, secure 3 gen, another 4k with brain afk.

You mean the killer that plays the best camping hooks and basements lol

People play hag. A common "pro" pick as well. Hag is designed in an anti-fun way to play against. Instant tp with auto-aim swipes while being able to camp hooks so easily... just... a dumb design.
