Maybe if they do this excessively, like 3 times in an hour.0

Isn't there already a ban system in place for people who commonly DC on purpose? I think they're working to implement it on consoles if they haven't already.

is it possible to maybe push towards a ban period for people who quit matches..?if they did that they would have to put in a system that would differentiate people who dc from leaving the game client and leaving the game manually or losing power to the Console/Computer. right now if power is lost to the Xbox, PS4, or Computer it will save the items, add-ons, the current amount of pips, and rank but if you dc from closing the game client in any form/manually leaving then you lost pips, possible rank, items, and add-ons you brought with you. (disclaimer I only said this to clarify the current terms of leaving matches). if people could get banned for leaving matches and if they lost power then they wouldn't get banned then how would it work? if they still banned people for Dcing due to losing power then people would stop playing the game if they had power problems. if people didn't get banned for Dcing due to losing power then the people who cared about their rank would always Dc by unplugging their system and we would be back to square one. I personally if I am trying to leave a match I just kill myself on the hook. most people dc manually because of rage which is usually when they are on death hook, being slugged and no one is saving them, or even being tunneled from the start of the game and are on death hook so as you see usually people don't just dc sometimes even the game client closes on itself on Xbox or I get a player save error and so until most of the problems are fixed like the game clients ending on all Consoles and Pc and Internet problems which can only be solved by Dedicated Servers are added we will not be seeing these changes added and if we do and I get banned for the Game Client randomly ending or in-game error that disconnects me I will stop playing the game until all the problems are addressed.

@TheLegendDyl4n1 I don't know what they have on consoles at the moment, and I can't explain how it works code-wise to you, but what you're describing is exactly what the system does on PC at the moment, and I believe they're working to implement it on consoles as well. Bans for DC are based on your ratio of games played to games DC'ed. The game can detect whether you quit the game using the menu or not, as opposed to a crash or power loss or internet issues, and it only affects your "DC count" if you disconnect manually using the ingame menu. So if you DC because your internet is bad or you lose power to your machine, that won't put you in danger of a ban, but ragequitting still does.

While I agree it’s frustrating.. why have the option to leave the game if you’re going to punish people for it. I’ll admit if I get caught 30 seconds into a game and I’ve got the killer stood millimetres from my face while I’m on a hook. Gg I’m out. (Aslong as my team are not near by as he could be checking for them)1

@MakoFenrir The option needs to be there because sometimes it's literally the only thing you can do, if the game is bugged or being held hostage. Or, if an irl emergency comes up and you have to leave your computer, sometimes it's kinder to your teammates to just DC rather than go afk, get caught, and let them risk their lives trying to save someone who isn't there.
However, using it to ragequit is selfish, childish and ruins the experience for everyone you're playing with. Not only is the killer denied points, but more importantly (if you're a survivor) it lessen's your team's chances of survival in two ways. One, you're not there to do objectives, but they still have to do all 5 generators as though there were 4 active players, and two, you're not distracting the killer and buying them time. So it's not fair to the other survivors or the killer. If you're DC'ing as killer, you're wasting your add-ons and your own and everyone else's offerings. DCing is punishable because the person is hurting other people, because they're a selfish child who can't handle losing gracefully.

Though I have to say, you use the word child to describe these people.. I understand it harms the team but I won’t sit and be facecamped moments into a game. I’m meant to enjoy the game also am I not?
Though, as I started writing this I got into a game. A rank 3 with ds just decided on his first down to dc on us, So I understand the frustration, I just think a time-out before you can join a lobby would do a lot more then instantly banning them right away.1 -

@No_Cluie_Louis If you mean on console, as I said I think they're working towards implementing the same ban system as on PC. If you're talking about PC, that's just not true.

Even fogstreamers derank regularly by DCing, thats how they "punish" DCing1 -
@No_Cluie_Louis I don't know exactly what the threshold is for receiving a ban (as in, what percentage of matches you have to DC to get in trouble), but once you do, for first offence it's one week, then two weeks, then four weeks, then it's a permaban. They only skip stages in very rare cases where they decide that the offence is really severe (say, if you played 200 games and DC'ed every single one of them).
