Do You Like The Proposed Change To Object Of Obsession From Today's Q&A?

Here is the concept change presented by the devs in case you missed it:

A supernatural bond links you to the Killer.

Whenever your aura is revealed to the Killer, the Killer's aura becomes revealed to you.

If you are the obsession, your aura is revealed to the Killer for 3 seconds once every 40/35/30 seconds.

Increases the odds of being the Obsession.

I really like the change personally, I'd change a bit the Obsession part to actually inform the killer when he's being revealed.

@Peanits Really good change, my congrats to who thought the new perk I'm serious

Even if the version they showed us is not the version that goes live. I'm content in knowing the devs recognized the main issue with the perk: survivors could control when their aura was revealed.

OoO is looking like it will be a high risk/high reward perk compared to the version we currently have where the risk is nowhere near the reward.

Yes, it can no longer be used in a SWF to call out the killer's location and actions, but it is not totally useless either.

Of course, a very nice change so far.

We'll have to test it. Remember that this is the only use of the perk. That's it. No aura perks, you're screwed, except the obsession

It's not great, but it's better.

I wish they change the whole idea of the perk

Basically if you're the obsession your aura is revealed to the 3 survivors

If you're NOT the obsession the obsession's aura will be revealed to the person with object

I think the aura being revealed anytime the killer can see yours is a bit much, especially unlimited, for anyone (not just the obsession), and since the killer can't really do anything about it. It works against way too much for 1 perk imo. I would change that effect to something else or make it only work for the obsession. Even with obsession only SWF will abuse it though to just relay what perks the killer is using, so I believe it'd be best to give it a different effect.

But its much better than what we have now, which isn't saying much since what we have now is disgusting. But I'd choose this version over what we have now any day.

Much less abusable than it was before however killer sided perks that reveal auras other than bbq and nurses are niche at best and shouldn't be made more useless my introducing this perk in this way.

Who said the perk needs auras involved in the first place lets get even more experimental! Why not be able to see scratch marks of other survivors? or even scratch marks from killers lets call them tears so they'll look different larger and deeper. Or maybe see the auras of all hooks on the map constantly would promote sabo plays which to me is the most exciting/intricate action a survivor can pull off.

Also keep the being reveled to the killer part and give survivors that run it a bp modifier maybe.

I have never used, and don't intend to use, the current OoO. However, if this change or something similar to is gets finalized and added, I will be trying it out for sure.

I'm actually extremely glad that the people who said no were still very constructive rather than destructive and ranting with their answers.

I do like the change but personally, I still think the idea I had in my head makes a bit more sense.

Instead of all this nonsense of trying to figure out all these different creative ways to rework the perk, a much easier way would have been to change it from a PASSIVE perk, to an ACTIVE one.

This could have been really easily done by making it so that you MUST stand still in order to activate Object of Obsession. After standing still for X seconds a button prompt will come up, press and hold Y button (not literally the "Y" key Y stands in for a variable. It could be anything, doesn't matter) for a maximum of Z seconds (Likely something short, in my head I was thinking 5 seconds but again, it could be anything). (If you are looking in the killer's direction, your link will reveal your auras to each other. This effect only applies if you are outside of the killer's terror radius, etc.) After using Object of Obsession the perk will go on cooldown for 50 / 40 / 30 seconds.

I'm not sure which I prefer, the devs suggestion, or my own proposed suggestion above. Either way, compared to the current version of the perk this is a heavy handed blow to those who really like to abuse and milk the perk for everything it was worth. Although I think my version still gives more control of the perk to the survivor (certainly less than the control they have now) and in that way perhaps the devs version of the rework is better than mine despite mine being a bit closer to the original intention of the perk.

It's getting changed, and that's all I care about. Thank God.

I’m a rank 1 killer main and I don’t like the proposed change. I hate object as it is and it definitely needs a change, but I think the proposed change to object will make it super meta as it nullifies a lot of meta killer perks (bbq, nurse’s, i’m all ears, etc). It would need more of a downside to keep it from being OP.

Rework this perk completly into something new.

Less Wallhacks for the SWF's are still Wallhacks.

    Or disable it in SWF.

    Easy fix.
