DS NERF!!?!
what is the new ds gonna do?
Comments
-
The new DS will become inactive if you do things that progress the game. So... repairing a generator, cleansing a totem, unhooking a survivor, healing a survivor. I forget all of the specifics, but if it isn't something you might want to do in a chase, it'll probably turn off DS.
5 -
So basically if i have ds no gen repairs no cleansing totems no healing or any other interactions for the whole game whatsoever?

Essentially anything other than running away, throwing a pallet, or vaulting a window as doing anything other than those things means you aren't being tunneled.
3 -
Nope
Nope. If you aren't being chased after an unhook, go do gens. You aren't being tunneled, so it's fine.
If you are being chased after an unhook, DS will be there to help you, so it's fine.
All this change does is remove the "60 seconds of invincibility no matter what" situations.
6 -
No.
By turn off I don't mean the 1 time stun goes away. If you do an objective it'll be exactly as if the DS timer ran out. You'll get it again next time you get hooked but THIS activation is gone.
0 -
But the real question is will it have to be used once in game?
0 -
Yes it's still only once.
1 -
That's ass if you cant repair gens or do anything other than running throwing pallets or vaulting then i would make it so you can use it more than once
0 -
If you feel that way then you are literally the reason the perk was changed in the first place. You were using the perk as a 1 minute immunity, not an anti-tunnel perk.
Its purpose is to protect you from getting tunneled, not a 1 minute second chance immunity for playing badly.
It doesn't need more than 1 activation per game, it will still be meta. It's that good. Old DS was way overpowered.
14 -
It isn't. It just means that you can't progress the game while having partial immunity which wasn't exactly fair for the killer. Progress the game? Alright but you lose your protection.
12 -
Seems to me they are promoting tunneling rather than make it a true anti tunneling perk again i haven't used it many times because i only have it on laurie and david king
0 -
They aren't promoting Tunneling.
If you're actually being tunneled, you won't have a chance to touch a gen or anything else that turns it off. What they are doing is trying to prevent people from using DS offensively. Things like going for a really dumb unhook because you have DS and BT and the Killer can't really get either of you even though you're unhooking in his face.
8 -
how? if youre doing gens you arent being tunneled
5 -
I dont do gens while chased point blank
0 -
I once had a match, where i hooked survivor A, then B, then C, then D, before i downed survivor A again (no slugging).
Survivor A, then disconnected and left a tunneling comment on my profile. Apparently killer isn´t allowed to hook a survivor more than once per match.
2 -
Idk if i played too much friday the 13th or idk what tunneling really means but in f13 tunneling means chasing one survivor and him alone and ignoring others
0 -
Then DS is your perk! It will protect you from that! (once)
0 -
New DS is still relevant in that scenario just like old DS. Where new DS is no longer relevant is if you decide to do generators. If you decide to actively start working on gens, you are fair game.

I reckon that one of two things will happen after the changes go live. Its either that community accepts that DS is not as good as it used to be and adapts to everyone using Borrow time and every lobby goes from 4 DS to 4 BT.
The other possibility is that DS changes become very negatively perceived and they end up changing DS in 1 month to being even more powerful than it was previously. My hope is that survivor community just adapts to everyone using borrow time so that Decisive strike just dies as a perk once and for all. It will fair trade off given that Hex:Ruin was taken away from killer but somehow, I always feel like killer will get short end of the stick in the end.
1 -
How does it promote tunnelling if you're immediately being chased off Hook and being tunneled decisive strike will still be there to protect you however if you're actively progressing the objective you're not being a tunneled that stage so you don't need tunnel protection.
Honestly I'm fine with them allowing you to use it twice hell I'm fine with them doing both that and pausing the time in a chase as long as you can't cheese the perk by working on a gen in my face I'm good

So, in your opinion, what is tunneling? I was under the impression that tunneling was relentlessly targeting one survivor until they're dead.
1 -
Every lobby already does run 4 BT's with the 4 DS's.
I don't do this "fair trade" stuff. That is flawed reasoning. We make changes so that there is balance between both sides. One side may be far enough ahead that they need 3 things nerfed while the other side only needs 1. You don't just buff or nerf an equal number on each side, that doesn't make any sense.
For the record I think all the second chance perks are unhealthy for the game in their current state and need changes, BT included.
1 -
You lose it for being useful in the game. Only in DBD is that called a perk.
0 -
Blame the people who abused it
3 -
You'll lose it if you want to cheese objectives risk free after the changes. No more free stuns/stall unless you're actually beiing tunneled.
2 -
So then whats the issue? How does this change promote tunneling? Any of the actions that deactivate DS you have to go out of your way mid chase to do.
0 -
Then DS sounds like the right perk for you.

I'd say it is not exactly common for every single lobby to have 4 DS and 4 BT. I'd say it on average, its like 2 DS and 2 BT. The new average is just going to be 4 BT and 0 DS. I'd say new DS is as threatening as current MoM. Perks that you have to "change" the way you play in normal game loop of the game are rarely ever good perks. Survivors are definitely not going to afk for 60 seconds to keep decisive strike active. They're going to be immediately go on generators or healing thus disable the perk almost instantly. New ds will be MoM, a powerful effect that is too situational to really be used.
I do agree that DS and OoO 100% needed to be weaker, so in term of their goal to gut both perks out of existance, mission accomplished but in term those still being useful in practical gameplay.... well that has ways to go.

New DS will very much still be meta. It's still one of the better perks in the game. Not even remotely is it on the level of MoM.
Most games the killer will still be slugging them because you aren't watching them at every second to know if they've touched an objective or not. Survivors aren't going to stand there for 60 seconds to keep it active but that's not why it's being ran in the first place. It's being ran for the times you are tunneled, which if people really are tunneled as much as they like to say they are then it still should be working like usual.

I don't think so. I think killers will try to do something along lines of DS fishing. they will try to bait the survivor into doing an action that disables DS. a common occurrence in games is that people often heal after unhook. say if there is two people injured, one has ds active, the other does not but both are injured, a killer might let the person get healed as they juggle to injure a another survivor and as soon as that person completely heals, they'll go straight back to the hook to attempt to attack injured survivor who is healing other player. I think another possible attempt would be to regress a generator in front of the hook survivor in hopes they gen tap. If they don't tap generator, it means they have DS and if they do, it means they do not have DS.
This is all assuming survivors continue to use DS. More likely that they stop using it thus leading to less games having obsessions and killers slowly stop respecting the perk itself over time even if an Obsession exists because they see it being used much less in lobby screen.

Tunneling is targeting one survivor and letting the others escape because of how ######### toxic these little ######### shits are and ######### trashbag dcing is just bad so i suicide on hook if a killer tunnels and face camp so they will have less points and a middle finger
