Fog shouldn’t be an offering...
Fog should be a staple on every map, based on the feel of that map. There should be maps with heavy fog, and maps with little to no fog. Why does it look like smoke coming out of the floors on indoor maps? Because it’s ridiculous that’s why.
What if instead of fog being the offering, different weather types were the offerings.
Wind
Rain
Hail
Snow
Dust
If more than one offering is chosen, it creates compound effects like:
Hail
Sleet
Or if two or more of the same are chosen it makes that effect stronger. However, indoor maps shouldn’t have these effects at all unless it’s an indoor map with open sections. They are indoor maps, not outdoor maps.

I...actually like that idea - the weather types. I don't know anything about game development or how hard it would be to add, but it's an interesting idea. I'm always up for snow in games because I live somewhere where it's rare xD

It sounds like a development nightmare, but dynamic weather would be a really cool thing to have. A thunderstorm would look amazing on some maps.

That's a big ask as a few years ago the developers (understandably) didn't want to deal with adjusting the lighting of all maps due to now retired dark and bright moonlight offerings. So I doubt offerings like these would ever be a thing.

*scared console noises*

They mentioned before they liked the idea but felt the technical and balance limitations would be too much; and instead keep them to minimal effects like the snow in the windows on lery's.
They didn't sound open to changing that development ideology sorry.

The only way to get what you want is for the devs to rebuild the game from the ground up. If they tried to implement it with the current engine, multiple console and PC fires will erupt all around the world.

That's a cool idea, but this games spaghetti code probably couldn't handle it.

Because Devs want map less Killer dependant (still happens with Huntress indoor map, Blight in coolwind..) so fog should be equal on all map.
I like the idea of weather type offering though. But it can be a waste if its indoor map.
Beside weather offering would counter each other like map offering, since 2 weathers can appear at the same time

From experience playing Friday the 13th, rain is a nightmare. It causes major frame rate drops. No thank you. Hard pass.

They’ve done a few maps with some weather, the one that has snow, and it seems like another has rain. I’m not a programmer, so I honestly don’t know what the difference is between that, and something like this. Is it different somehow?

As much as I'd like to see weather offerings imagine the performance issues.

Yepp as a few others have said, the performance hit with regards to weather in the game would be difficult I guess. Implementing rain, storms etc would be incredible from a player perspective but I am not sure how low end PC's/Consoles would be able to handle it.

if this game ever gets wind effects, I'll finally be able to say that wind in a video game bricked my console lol

I mean this game would get hyper realistic, because you would literally feel the wind effects lol

but I am not sure how low end PC's/Consoles would be able to handle it.
I mean,we get really horrible FPS drops because the game is loading a status effect (e.g exposed, bloodlust etc.)
So considering how poorly optimized this game is it would probably let our consoles/low end PCs explode in thousand pieces

On the "immersion" aspect something to remember is that these are not places in Real Life, they are realms created by The Entity for The Trials to take place in. Why is there Fog coming up out of the ground inside of a building? Because The Entity thinks it makes things More Scary (tm).
