How do you guys feel about the DBD Lore

I'm talking about the overall lore that we have for the game. Honestly, its just way to complicated for my brain to wrap around. Through recent Tomes they've been painting the Entity from what went from a mysterious yet powerful being, to this creature that would put Cthulhu to shame. They are just making this thing way more complicated then it needs to, so much so I stopped caring about the lore of the Entity as a whole. You know I actually had a theory for how Pennywise could come into the game, and the only way I thought it could work if he was the Entity or it being a deadight like him, but now I just gave up on it. It would've been better then what we have currently as the Entity.

But that's just me I personally like the lore of the killers and the survivors more and some have very interesting stories to share.

So, my opinion on this is mixed. I do love learning lore about the realm, but were getting more stories about characters backstories while i would prefer to learn about the survivors and killers already inside the realm, and how the realm works. We found out that survivors dont remember a trial if they died. This is because if they remembered each trial, they would most likely lose hope and go to the void. Now, the void I thought was inaccessible to normal survivors, but literally Jake Park has went into the void and then left. (this can be seen in the poster where he has his hollowed blight outfit and is looting those zombie looking creatures. Those creatures are survivors who have lost all emotion and are empty.

What i want to know, is how the survivors and killers react with each other in the entities realm outside of trials. The observer also is able to read into memories in the air and form objects out of thin air. This is because the realm is made of the auric and he uses auric cells. Does this mean survivors and killers all access the auric cells to form their own clothes? Or do they just find all these cosmetics around the realm in different houses and buildings. We know the entity has consumed multiple universes, so it is safe to assume the entirety of earth is possible to go across. Plus, Jake Park has a 1930s outfit. Did he randomly wear this, or is this a Jake Park from a different timeline? There are so many questions going on unanswered, and I REALLY want them to give us more lore about the realm itself, rather than survivors and killers before they were inside the realm

Character lore is inconsistent as hell. They make a really good character lore and then almost completely 180 it when they do that character's Tome lore. Or they ignore their orginal lore all together. It sucks.

You'd think they honestly try but no, the last time a characters lore was actually good, was Claudettes, and Doctors their lore made sense

I love the possibilities behind it, the real world inspiration for their original killers, but feel like they could do with hiring a professional lore master. Just one person who's whole job is putting it all together and making sure the tomes don't mess with established canon or become overly repetitive.

Overall I like the themes and ideas this game has, and I like most of the lore. But I hate how the tomes always contradict the characters original lore.

Like Lisa's lore ignored everything about her orginal lore. The Legions lore literally contradicted itself. Showing Frank and Julie as the only one's that took part in the janitors murder when in their orginal lore it was all 4 of them. It's stupid.

I think lately they are putting too much in the basic lore for characters. I liked more the short paragraphs of earlier characters which can be explored bit by bit from cosmetics descriptions and archive entries rather than those very long and detailed backstories we're getting lately.

I like the lore I just feel it's jumbled or we don't have the whole picture. It would be nice if some diehard fan gathered up all the info and made a video on it.

I was stunned at how they completely rewrote Hag's lore. I always thought Lisa Sherwood was a girl from some old tribal type village from a much older time period where the village elders practiced writing religious symbols on walls. That whole tragic and creepy story of her walking through the woods to get home, getting caught in a storm, and then being captured and eaten by a bunch of cannibals. She is left rotting to death but free herselfs and kills the cannibals then disappears.

Then we get her tome and its a story about some modern High School girl who was fooling around with symbols from her Grandmother's old book. Something happens to her overweight Math teacher and her b*tchy school friend. All very boring compared to the original lore.

Same it just makes me really question the writing team for this games lore. THey jsut seem to be pulling so much out of their asses and saying Scre the old lore.

  • Eh I don’t really care for the lore.
