Ungrateful

You can't be ungrateful for recieving something you didn't want or ask for, and that the significant majority of the community didn't like, want or ask for?

Regardless what the issue is, some people will respond immaturely and some people will respond a bit more maturely. There has been some stomping and cries of 'THIS SUCKS' with no further context, but a good number of threads/feedback regarding the changes give reasons why people are upset and what they dislike about it. Not everyone complaining is ungrateful - they're simply upset or disappointed with the changes made and how it impacts their enjoyment of the game. And admittedly, a UI is such a core part of any game that it shouldn't be a surprise that there's a big reaction there. Calling everyone who dislikes the update 'ungrateful' is a little immature itself and leads to... well, all the arguing happening in this thread. Just my two cents.

Who is being a bully? Yes, I called him out a bit at first. Most of my original comment was a general assessment of the forums. My follow up was indeed intended to sound a bit hostile since somewhat juvenile response of "you replied so you care" neither added anything to nor addressed anything from my overall illustration of how far too many people in this group are coming across as entitled and spoiled and wholly unappreciative of the incredibly hard and tedious work the devs put into ANY changes made. Their labor of love, even IF it were misguided and missed the mark, is being dumped on with impunity and frankly needs to be highlighted and treated with the same disdain they show in their demeanor.
Could I have handheld everyone and spelled out which specific aspects of my initial response to @OBX applied specifically to them? Sure. Could some of what I said be misinterpreted to appear as if I were thoroughly group them with the rest of the screaming and gibbering masses calling out for an Exodus? Possibly.
But just as equally they could have asked for clarification on points too. Instead I was met with a sophomoric retort (granted it was followed by well wishes that are appreciated, but also rang a bit hollow and snide placed seemingly as an afterthought. NOTE: In other words, my interpretation of things is as fallible as anyone's and absolutely guided my reply back). A massive problem with what these forums have continued to grow into is that it is becoming increasingly difficult to separate the well intentioned dissenting voices from the poo flinging monkeys...especially when one takes umbrage with someone railing against the monkeys and defends themselves as if every negative aspect described is about them. I suppose I could have drawn a clearer distinction between the various parts of my original comment, but such a breakdown would make me even more verbose than I already am...and I don't think anybody wants that (Of course this is opposed to days where I sound like someone taught a banana slug to type, but that is a different topic entirely).

If you're paying for a product, then yes.

The HUD is probably the least broken thing that happened this update, the most broken is the hitboxes, that's all types or ridiculous, they hit you from a mile away now, and no more 360 looping because why give survivors a chance when you can ruin the game instead.

The forums are not necessarily a reflection of any majority though. And that is a part of the problem that people kinder and more patient than myself are trying to address and getting nowhere until someone smashes the "Can we get someone to address these underwear gnomes in their own terms here?" button.

Yes, a lot of people asked about ui-updates.
Usually they said they wanted to buff solo survivor with information to swf level, a totem counter was the most common request. They dont got that, true, but the new ui does provide more information to solo survivors than before, and i dont read anywhere that it is the final iteration and no other information might be included in the future.
And i think a lot of people dont like it because it is different than before, because thats the reason people dislike something a lot of the time.

sure it’s not the best
Question - Why defend the hud and lecture the community when moments later you're just going to admit the hud is bad?
There's a reason a lot of people are willing to drop DBD completely or at least take an extended break. The UI is an eyesore and it is frustrating to look at multiple spots on the screen because your eyes have to be everywhere. It's a chore and it's especially frustrating that it feels like the feedback in the PTB was completely ignored. No word from BHVR at all about feedback and contrary to popular belief the majority of the feedback was pretty constructive and to the point.
Personally I'm going to take an extended break until the UI is fixed. If the UI doesn't change then I guess I'm not playing but I have better things to do than get frustrated with a user interface meant to provide information. No this isn't a "pls fix this or I leave" post it could affect me less and I know it could affect anyone else less. That's just the reality of it the UI is pretty bad and it feels like they took the feedback they got as personal slights and ignored it.

The various forums are the only places to get feedback. The Devs heard the feedback. The Devs did nothing.
I think that's the biggest problem with this patch: all the positive changes were outweighed by the fact that community feedback on a UI update was almost completely ignored.
5 -
But even taking that into account, too many (not all...I won't even say most because I wouldn't claim to have delved super deep into the undercurrent of, at best, tepid vomit surface comments littered around these pages these days) posts and comments refuse to acknowledge any positives and just trash the devs and anyone who actually likes the HUD changes (for example I've talked with several players with very high end ADHD who find the new HUD makes their gameplay easier and more enjoyable). It then looks less like criticism, deserved or not, and more like ungrateful and entitled brats threatening to hold their breath because they specifically were not catered to. It definitely makes it harder to either sympathize or empathize with their POV. It then basically devolves into humans picking a side during a chimpanzee poo fight at a zoo when supporters try to voice their opinions too. Which makes it impossible for the devs to take anyone too seriously.

More than 6.000 hours here and I won’t play it again, lol. This is awful and the game lost a big part of his identity.
5 -
I swear this is a troll message.
Be happy their trying new things? Their "new" things was broken hitboxes, awkward movement and badly designed UI.
No patch should be released broken.

Or people are mad when nearly everyone hates this and they do it anyway. Then pretend they just need console players to try it before they decide to get rid of it. Then turn around and say it's too late no going back. We should be grateful that they flat out lie to and ignore us? Yeah, I'm good.
5 -
So instead they refuse to listen to literally anything and just do whatever the hell they want while throwing out token statement about listening to the community.
This is not even close to the first time this has happened, it's just one of the worst and most visible. The Devs do what the Devs want to do and don't listen to any feedback.

"Ungrateful"?
We are allowed to give feedback on a terrible and objectively bad design choice.

What insane amount of bugs though?!
I play this game excessively and the only things in recent memory are the OCCASIONAL totem that can’t be cleansed, a SMALL number of impassable gaps, and the initial problems with The Twins (But new Killers always have bugs).
This game has been the LEAST buggy it has been for a while.

Honestly... you have to understand people who are passionate about this game.
Not only did almost everyone dislike it in PTB, top streamers they speak with didn't like it... and even their own "fog whisperers" have memed it after release...
And then to respond that well... we can't undo it everything prior is gone... is a joke. The UI is almost effortless (yes I have experience) to change. UI follows you around every single game during every second... So yes people can be upset. It's not about being ungrateful. It's about a company going "oh yea ######### your opinions" and additional time on a test server with almost NOTHING changed.
Do I HATE the UI? Eh. I don't like it, alot. I find it clunky, amateur, and scattered info. But in this situation I understand the outrage. Will I quit the game? Nah, I like the game. But it did degrade the experience.

OP YOU ARE SO CRINGE. How much is BVHR paying you? I uninstalled and won't be "coming back in 3 days"

Listening to does NOT mean catering to or defaulting to. That's what so many naysayers don't seem to grasp. They very well could have taken the negative comments in and will work on finding a balance between what we have currently been given (try to remember also the HUD changes are apparently connected to later things being implemented) and specific issues addressed with the feedback.
It isn't like they can just completely scrap months worth of coding which will affect more coding and other plans at the drop of a hat. Nor should they.
Besides even IF they did many of the same voices crying foul now would be belittling the devs for not implementing anything new or for them taking too long between "welcome" changes. And we both know it. (NOTE: I'm speaking very specifically about the true whiners and not people willing to have decent and civil discourse on the matter.)

Oh no, gideon is horrific and the map designer should be heavily ashamed of themselves.
The killer will spend all game breaking doors and god pallets.

Even if they did fix the metric ton of bugs and issues this shouldn't have gone through.
they should have shown the community these things to see what we think before even pushing it to the ptb and if it did go to the ptb it should have been like a beta where they improved it from the feedback before releasing it into the next ptb as a final product. Yes that is basically over a 3-6 month period but it is for quality and satisfaction which the devs didn't aim for at all with the UI and movement.
Unlike the maps where they are easier to please the eyes of the consumer and balance since they have experience making maps animations required a lot more detail and revises before they look good, taking feedback from others assists this dramatically. Both the UI and animations look a little rushed and they are not that good because they didn't take feedback at face value this could have been prevented if they used the form of improvement i suggested and it doesn't take a genius to find this out or even to improve this i thought it off the top of my damn head.

The HUD seems like a WIP tbf.

What does that have to do with being "Ungrateful?"
And the devs are not entitled to our goodwill. They need to earn it.
I'ts fine if they want to try new things. it's not fine when everyone tells them it's obviously bad and they don't give a #########.
3 -
See? This is why we shouldn't listen to you. You're so petty that you correct people when no one asks for it. Kind of like how NO ONE ASKED FOR THIS HUD!
3 -
"Ungrateful is thrown around a lot. People say the player base is full of whiny children. But that implies we are never satisfied, and that we ask too much. No one asked for the map changes. No one asked for animations. No one asked for wave after wave of Cosmetic. People are even tired of the new chapter spam. People want what they have wanted since 2016, bug fixes, and perk balancing. People loved the style of the game, the dark aesthetics, the not so realistic styles. The UI shows they don't understand game design, but thats not the only reason its hated. Its hated not because it was so negative to the gameplay, but because no one even wanted it in the first place.
DS was comfort nerfed. It doesnt change how it will be used aggressively. The problem with it is survs can body block and run into lockers to force the use. All DS needs to do is reset when someone else is hooked and the problem is solved.
Object was annoying but certainly no priority.
They spread themselves so thin, they are trying to do too much and it shows. Ungrateful implies we are not grateful for how much they are doing for us. We dont want all of this. We want them to take their time, and to do each thing well before moving to the next. They are letting the game die because they can't listen to the community's needs and actually, carefully, address the issues

i mean they said they were aware of the backlash and didnt care. They said they had their reasons and to "trust them", and havent said another word since...
1 -
DBD is a game that people pay for. Paying customers are 300% justified in giving negative feedback to things they dont like.
1 -
If it ain't broke don't fix it.
They like fixing things that aren't broke and leave broke things broke.
2 -
Us console players have to try it so we can give our feedback. Even though many of us have seen it, have watched streams with it, and have collectively sided with the "we hate this" camp. But BHVR believes we have some form of PC blindness that makes it so we can only understand and see something when it is on Console.

Ungrateful is the wrong word.
I think you mean untactful, yes there is a lot of overeaction and a lot of people are rediculous in how they have responded, but much like the aura changes, the new UI appears pretty bemoaned and I couldn't agree more. I found it really hard to play this evening in the killer first person view.
I don' tplay a lot of games in first person view it often gives me motion sickness. DBD is one of the few exceptions, along with Skyrim another game where the hud is uncluttered at the bottom of the screen.
New UI made me nauseated today and I'm gonna stop for the night, if it doesn't change I may not be back because hell the dizziness and headache isn't worth it and something was really off puting about that set up.
Couldn't really appreciate the other changes, the UI was to distracting.

What exactly is ungrateful about demanding a certain standard of quality in a product you have purchased? You make it sound as if they updated the game out of kindness and goodwill. This is a multi-million dollar game studio we're talking about my dude. Sure, they're not EA or Blizzard, but they certainly have the resources to do a lot more than what they deliver. No players, no game. It's in their best interest to get their act together.

Getting headache from the new UI. And these hits I'm getting are unreal. I'm not ungrateful but doing nothing for 1 1/2 months instead of doing this update would've been better. F**K, I'd rather play against Undying 24/7 and having to destroy 3x Ruin and then Undying just to figure out that the Ruin is the bugged totem infront of the harvester instead of squinting and getting headache.

There's just no point to some of these changes, I mean, I like the surv animations myself, but the UI is indeed, really questionable in design, guessing the survs are in a discord call or something.
It was pointed out by somebody else how it also affected motion sickness even more, which makes it less bearable overall, this is not a good thing for your game and THERE SHOULD BE an option, in miscellaneous or something, that allows you to have the old UI back, instead of this .
