Why.
Didn't get long in my tomb.
Look, everyone hates the new UI. Everyone's hated the new UI. Everyone let BHVR know they hated the new UI. Which is, ostensibly, why they put it out into the PTB to begin with.
Y'know, "Public Test Beta". Where they give things a spin for feedback before putting it in the base game.
But this has all just left me really, really confused.
Why did any of this happen again? Who the hell was asking for an entire UI overhaul? Why did they do exactly that when no one asked for it? Why did they test it if they were just gonna put it in anyway? Why is it so important to them that we have this new UI?
And you can't go back, apparently. So not only did you do all this, but you put every single egg you have into this basket while everyone told you every minute along the way that it was a bad idea and they didn't like it and would very much like it if you stopped while you're ahead.
Look.
I'm not frothing at the mouth like a lot of other people are. I don't like it, but i'm not mad. I'm just.. very confused by this whole situation. It isn't very often I see someone wade so hard against the tide to make a bad change that everyone doesn't like for them.
But it feels like there's two different groups in BHVR. The people who work on the game, make the changes, do the coding, do the animations, all that, and the people who're actually in charge.
And the people in charge don't actually play the game. Or any game, for that matter.
They want changes, they tell people to get to work, and the people doing the work don't have a say in it. New UI, we want it to look like this, go.
It's all speculation on my part, but since we barely get any communication, that's all we have.

the ptb is there mainly to find bugs. not to see the public reaction.
granted, the reaction has some effect, but that's not why there's a ptb.

So they said in a video where they talked about this update that they needed to change the UI to make room for new stuff. Your guess is as good as the rest of ours what that new stuff might be.
2 -
Unfortunately that reasoning isn't always true.
Take the twins patch where all the bugs in the PTB were brought to live and with a few more for good measure.
This patch is better but we have worse bugs and they just ignored all the feedback.
Also not to mention they have a "feedback and suggestions" section specifically for the PTB
So checkmate

First of all, your choice of words (I can’t find the terminology) have always been intriguing to me.
Secondly, I agree. Though I love almost everything about this update, it’s clear that a lot of people are upset by it and it’s process. It’s gotten to the point where health issues are included and it’s pretty unfair that they either have to deal with it, or don’t play at all.
I’m not trying to bash the Devs and I hope others don’t as well, but when health problems come into place, that’s kinda where I draw the line.

At this point i feel like the are using an ouija board to decide what to do 🤷♂️

Or maybe this:

Which is crazy since this HUD takes up MORE space than the original HUD.

Your note of my wordliness pleases me.
But yeah I thought I was gonna say more with this, and then it turned into general bashing. Whoops.
Point is, this situation is super weird and because of that i'm not mad at the devs, i'm just generally confused. It feels more like someone's got a gun to their head and forcing 'em to make these terrible changes than it does just airheadedness, and i'm wondering if somehow news is gonna come out about BHVR that's gonna make us feel real damn bad for the team actually programming these changes.
3 -
Yeah, you just can't convince me that it's the people in charge that are at fault for this.
Which is still so weird because this has to be the most easily preventable s***storm i've ever seen besides that whole colorblind fiasco

I like the new UI. Looks new and it's finally something different. I don't get what the whole fuss is about. If you don't like it.... Deal with it? Devs will do what they want and the whole UI thing is just silly at this point. We get it, a lot of people don't like it but I'd rather them change stuff so it's not the same boring crap for 4 years.

The fuss is a two-parter-- cluttered spread-out mobile UI, which is fine for phones but poor for multiple design reasons on larger screens, and possibly the single biggest case of "If it ain't broke, don't fix it" DbD's ever had.
I get liking change and adding zest to things that've been the same for years, but change for its own sake ain't always a good thing. Especially if it's a downgrade.
3 -
Didn't they say it needed to change for things they want to do with it in the future that they couldn't do with the old UI?

the ptb is still there to find bugs. wether they get fixed or not is a different issue.
I already said the reaction has some effect, it's just not the focus.
you were already in check, you can't checkmate me

Grandpa dies and goes to heaven when complaints are taken care of.
When a new complaint shows up he has to crawl back out like a zombie to remind BHVR that Night of the Living Dead is a horror movie.

If you REALLY dont get the rather obvious, I'm made a dissertation about why.

I want @Grandpa_Crack_Pipe to adopt me. I think he's awesome and secretly a word wizard 🧙♂️

They have a bad case of Shiny Object Syndrome at the managerial level. Pretty common in the tech industry. The devs I'm sure know this stuff is messed up, but they're constantly being told to push updates that aren't remotely ready and then immediately focus on the next new thing.
