Patch 4.5.0 Initial Reaction and Honest Feedback (Survivor Main Bias)
Good Evening,
I’m hoping that players and devs will take notice to what I feel are common opinions amongst a large majority of the DBD community after the most recent patch update (4.5.0). It will be a mix of both positive and negative feedback.
The Positives:
- New smoother, aesthetically pleasing, and receptive skill check
- New flashlight animation change (added back the illumination upon successful blinding)
- Crouching while shining the flashlight
- New hatch entering animation
- New healing animation when picking up a downed survivor
- New Gideon Meat Packing visual updates (I haven’t played on Asylum yet)
- New score effects and status alert (moved to the right side of the screen for easier reference)
The Negatives:
- STATUS WIDGET POSITIONING AT THE TOP LEFT OF THE SCREEN FOR PLAYER NAMES, HEALTH STATES, AND HOOK COUNTS
- Why It’s Bad = valuable map sight is blocked in a crucial area of the screen. The bottom left of the screen now has a larger item and add-on visual, which is not crucial to have. Furthermore, the status widgets are more difficult to read the player names, and ESPECIALLY to judge the hook timers. Increasing the size of the widget just takes up more crucial map sight. I do like the new animations and graphics on the widgets, but most definitely not the placement and hook timer bar.
- OBJECTIVES MOVED TO THE TOP CENTER OF THE SCREEN
- Why It’s Bad = Again, more valuable and crucial map sight is obstructed. When you think of the status widgets, objectives, score events and status effects, items, it forces your eyes to criss-cross in all different directions... which survivors can’t afford to do when they have to be mindful of their surroundings and the killer.
- UPDATED SURVIVOR LOCOMOTION AND HITBOX REGISTRATION
- Why It’s The Death Of This Game = the past survivor locomotion had nothing wrong with it. Why fix what’s not broken? Besides that, the new turning locomotion is extremely stiff, less sensitive/sharp, and much easier for the killer to track movement (multiple killer main streamers have confirmed this: i.e. Otzdarva). The posing for survivors while standing now resembles a bodybuilder’s T pose (which is not very stealthy), and the injured running animation looks like a half-Naruto run (sorry for the jab lol). With DS receiving an exploitative nerf in the coming weeks, survivors can’t afford to have their locomotion nerfed in such a disadvantageous fashion. Lastly, if the easier to track movement wasn’t enough, the nail in the coffin is that it seems like every killer has a Freddy lunge now. The hit boxes extend out so much further, that it is extremely tough to anticípate when to bait as a survivor.
Conclusive Initial Reaction to the Patch Today
- After I played two matches, I didn’t even feel like playing another one because the survivor movements were so hindered, and the hitbox registration was so odd and frustrating. P.S. The POV upon being downed and hooked was also extremely low to the ground and skewed in an odd fashion.
While my negatives were a mix of fair points and a little bit of emotional frustration... I hope this review, the opinions, and suggestions are helpful in shifting the game towards the direction that Behavior is aiming to grow in. A happy community means more investment in the game. And more investment in the game leads to more money for Behavior, but more importantly... more enjoyment and support from it’s community. If it is any consolation... yes I do play killer as well around the red ranks (although I’m not that great :) )
Sincerely With Health and Well Wishes,

Flashlight draining very fast than before, hitbox ultra unfair...
I left this game.

As a Console Killer, I am so happy that Survivors can't spin ######### everywhere.
It was really difficult to keep track with the low FPS and I cannot wait for the DS nerf.

Put the dang UI back in the bottom left corner of the screen. Smooth out the animations. And maybe take a couple pallets off The Game.
Then it would be a decent patch
8 -
I agree on taking couple pallets out of games like a fuking circus at times

I’m assuming you’re playing on an older console? Because the new gen consoles have very legit FPS. Maybe not as high as some top-notch PC’s, but definitely from a competitive standpoint it works fine. Check out TheShowStopper. He plays killer on PS5.

Yeah i find myself also running into crap i usually wouldnt with the new movement.
They also changed the camera when downed so you can't see crap.
These new positioning changes is also really bad for deathslinger players sometimes, they do be missing alot this patch. might be a considence but idk

Hit validation broken, being hit on the other side of dropped pallets, being hit through a head on animation. This patch is hot fvcking garbage.

Yes. Like most people, I play on the older Consoles.

Unfortunately, the saying, “out with the old and in with the new” rings true here. They can’t regress the game to serve an old generation. Like Bob Dylan said... “The Time’s They Are A Changin’.” The old movement isn’t the issue, the currency of your console is... sorry to say... time to save up.

- Updated survivor locomotion and hitbox registration
- Why It’s The Death of This Game = the past survivor locomotion had nothing wrong with it.
I truly hope they realize this part is key.
+1

I'm sorry but it's embarassing that you need a next gen console in order to get okay FPS on a 5 year old game.
I never had this much performance issues with any game so far

Not everyone is able to afford a console. Plus with the store bots buying all the Ps5s, It's nearly impossible to get it. Learn to be in other people's shoes before telling them to get a better console in such a blunt manner.

The old animations were so rigid and janky though. Now it feels so much more relieving, although we don't exactly have inverse kinematics systems and some interactions like hitreg and crouching still have issues. I'm glad they're updating maps and animations after long requests now, although sucks that they had to make the meatpacking plant super bright and ugly afterwards becaise some people can't see in darkness that well with the sun glaring into their screen. They could very easily just add a brightness slider and eye adaptation filter to the game to fix this.

Thanks for reading the forum. Your comment is irrelevant to the purpose of this discussion. Sorry that you had to personalize the post and then project your frustration online. I hope you find your happiness.

I've only seen people dislike the new animations. The old style was what we loved, dbd isn't serious enough for this kind of realism attempt, it needs to be a bit goofier

I'm just mad that my ps4 keeps freezing... ;-;

Thank goodness there are people like you who can say it better then I ever could.
The new survivor movement is absolutely awful. If they wanna make clunkier surv gameplay please just make dbd 2 and leave this one alone. If I wanted to play a clunkier version of dbd I'd be on F13 rn. Ugh. After 5k hrs I never thought THIS is what would actually make me stop wanting to play lol.

It’s sad. I was thinking “the twins update was the worst this game will ever have” and then they trump it with this patch.
On the feedback section over 90% of people hated the new UI but we still have it.
I play games as killer and hope the survivors don’t ragequit from the hitboxes issues.
The new movement is a joke and has been bested by games from 15+ years ago.
The only thing I can say is good is the core chase gameplay, when it’s not ruined by hitboxes.
I hope they revert most of this patch as soon as possible. I have played DBD for a very long time and this “update” really does make me consider moving to another game.

Absolutely not. First off, Black Ops Cold War runs at a stable 45 FPS on my Xbox. There is NO reason that DBD shouldn't be able to match that, as CoD looks leagues better.
Secondly, BHVR PROMISED 60 FPS on Console back in March of 2019.
Finally, there's still a pandemic. People are struggling to pay rent let alone buy a new $500 machine and expecting them to do so in order to play a 5 year old game is utterly ridiculous.

On my ps4 pro, it still runs fine. Will get the PS5 tho when RE Village drops.

Sounds like a “you” problem if everyone else is running the game fine. I also run the game on my xbox one (1st generation) and have no issues. The Pandemic is not an excuse. You can do DoorDash or a multitude of other things to get creative and make extra money. We’re talking about a console here, which is cheaper than a cell phone nowadays...

You need only look at r/deadbydaylight or deeper into the Forums to see how awful the Console experience is. So no, it is not a "me" issue.
It is $500. Arenyou seriously asking people who are struggling to make ends meet to spend money to play a game they already own? Not a good take.

This guy is trolling. He has to be.
There is no way he expects people to buy a new Console to play this game properly.

I’m not asking, I’m suggesting if you are struggling to make ends meet, you do something about it. Instead of being passive aggressive and complaining. Stop playing the victim and solve the problem, not complain about it. Thanks for stopping by my thread. Good bye.

Promising optimization and instead just waiting for a console update is not the way to do it...
Many people can't even get their hands on a ps5 thanks to scalping, and it isn't even worth it yet anyway.

I am not.
