My issue with SWF

So I just recently got back into DBD as my friends and my brother agreed to install and we’ve all enjoyed. Besides a few bugs and glitches we haven’t had to many problems and the game is better than I remember but I have one problem. When I play SWF me and my friends are all equal rank so we get even killers but when I play killer I always seem to find unbalanced groups I don’t find fair. Just today and yesterday I played against a 2 or 3 people on red ranks one of which being rank 2 meanwhile I’m rank 16. I don’t find it fair that just because there’s one rank 16 in a SWF group I have to play against purple and red ranks. It ruins the fun for me as there isn’t much I can do about someone with all the best perks and way more experience than me. I think there should be a middle ground that’ll put them with the most fair middle ground for all parties instead of putting low ranks against the top. If not that than my only other idea (probably a bad one) is make it to where 3 or 4 man groups have gens that take longer to do so that there isn’t so much gen rushing by people with perks Im to low level to counter. I’m curious if there is anyone else who finds this annoying and if so please do your best to make sure the dev team sees this.

You need to blur out the names. I know it's your first post, so wanted to let you know it's required on the forums. Sorry if this came across as nagging 😬

Survivor retention rate is far more important than killer retention rate to the Devs, because there are far more survivors than killers, and that brings in more money.

If an SWF has been waiting for a while in queue, the devs allow the matchmaker to break from its normal rules of only finding ranks within a certain parameter to just joining in any lobby that comes up. There are going to be more low rank killers than high rank killers comparative to high rank survivors, so new killers will often be forced to play against red rank swf with their low rank friend. The killer quitting the game due to it being unfair is whatever, as they can easily be replaced.

Survivor on the other hand, since they bring in vastly more money just because there are 4 x as many than killers, the devs will do whatever they can to keep them. So that is preferential treatment when it comes to matchmaker. If 3 new players join the game with their red rank buddy playing in SWF and they are going against nothing but red rank killers stomping and killing them all day, they probably will not be playing the game again. So the devs allow new killers to become fodder for those players as a trade off. It's better to lose 1 potential new player than 4 potential new players.

I never really thought of it like that but it’s still bull. I wonder how long it’ll be before they actually fix matchmaking and throw killers a bone since without them there is no DBD. Thanks for the response!

they wont fix it, when mmr will come, you wont see ranks (Becase ranks wont take part im matchmaker) so you will lose that red marker showing how much MM is messed up

Yeah swf really scrambles the ranking system. When I play alone, after a couple of downright terrible matches the matchmaker realises to give me some easy baby killers but when friends join we sometimes still get baby killers that we'll together completely destroy unfortunately and even after I leave too.

On the other hand, I like that the ranks don't exactly mean you will ONLY face killers of your skill level. The game is less competitive and stressful feeling when it's like well you got un/lucky this time.
