What are the Iridecent Shards good for...
I got plenty of Iridescent Shards to purchase a full skin for any of the survivors or killers but when browsing the in-game store, almost everything is behind a paywall that requires real money to be purchased.
Every single good skin (which there are very few of) are always locked behind a paywall and all the scrummy-looking ones that not many of us even want in the first place, oh yes, those are the ones BHVR is more than willing to let purchase using the Iridescent Shards.
I can see a clear pattern here with every skin being released behind a paywall that actually looks like worth spending shards on. I do not believe this is just my own personal taste I am talking about here. Let me know if you feel the same way or if you think there are plenty of good skins to buy in the shop using Iridescent Shards.
EDIT: Since someone pointed it out real quick, no, I am not talking about licensed killers, I understand those are behind a paywall for a reason.

Buying killers and survivors/ perks from the shrine
5 -
Iri shards are only good to unlock non licensed killers and survivors and maybe get some skin that can be bought with them.
Otherwise, they are useless.

Personally there are plenty of good cosmetics that are available with shards.
8 -
I agree with that. It depends on the character, but most of the time, I find something I like from the Shards cosmetic.

Buying perks from the shrine you already have so it gives you 150k BP
1 -
Plenty.. Really? All I could see as worth purchasing are a few and they costs 21600 shards. And takes enormous time to gather.
3 -
I have 90k shards and nothing in the store is attractive to me. Hopefully the next chapter releases some nice cosmetics.
2 -
Why would I want to do that? I want to buy skins. That is the topic of discussion here.
1 -
If you have not been following how the skins are being released, most of the nice cosmetics are behind a paywall that can not be bought using shards. Just now, for example, the Death Slinger received an awesome-looking Stampede skin (literally the only good-looking skin on him), and what a surprise, it is not purchasable using shards.

Then buy skins? There are some that you can with shards.

Genius...

Yea, this thread really is of genius level.

You can buy all the non-licensed Killers and Survivors with shards (that's most of them). Did you already unlock all the characters?

^ This is a big one.
I personally buy every single killer/survivor with shards that is non licensed. That's a ton of free content.
I don't think ever ever had to buy a single character with money that was non licensed because of this.

I bought all my characters with money. Mostly cause I use my shards for the shrine

Definitely an option! That would be a route people can take if they don't have as much free time to unlock the perks by leveling them up. All just depends if the person has more free time or money. Many ways to go and just depends on the persons situation.

Agreed ask "what are shards good for" then gets cocky when you tell him. The grind in Dbd is ridiculous if you plan to P3 your characters. if not then this is not for you but if so then re-buying perks from the shrine is a viable option. Especially if you don't want to buy a 5-10 dollar skin for 100+ hours of work. I like to buy zarina, DS, PH, and cheryl perks to get 250k. What I do is when my character is level 50 and I go to prestige them I buy a perk or two to get them back to level 15 so they can carry 4 perks. I also convert time into money and skins don't save me time getting bloodpoints from the shrine does. I can buy skins I like can't buy BP's.

absolutely NOTHING, say it again now!
also I think your are just being dishonest if yourself, you only want the once that cost money because you value them more because they cost money.
Plenty of irridecent shard skins look great, heck often the auric cells only stuff is just a recolour of the shard version.

I have like 4 different games I alternate through. Most of them either have battle passes or limited time events I have to finish, paired with the fact that I just get really tired of dbd after like 2 hours of playing I really can’t get that many characters level up. I have like only 5-6 killers at lvl 50

I'm p3ing all my killers now (already did all survivors), and I get the points from the shrine for the exact same thing. As soon as I get 2k shards I just spend them and get the BP

Definitely understandable! I personally never get tired of DBD but I can definitely see how it would for lots of people!

It’s mostly because I’m only really great with doc but once I get like rank 4with him people actually know how to play against him. I’m just boosted with other killers even spirit and Freddy which is actually sad.

A lot of people here are quite supportive of BHVR's way of handling the skins. I do believe many of you absolutely misunderstood my point and pointed out things like Shrine perks and unlicensed killers when the whole point was within the subject of skins and nothing else. I find it disappointing to see that people are so willing to pay for something that many other games provide a chance to unlock by actually playing the game, and not only this, willing to pay way more than the skins are worth. Buy 5 default priced skins and that is already 50€ for you, nobody sees a problem in this, really?
Based on what you have said, it is clear to me that you find nothing wrong with the skins, so let us continue to pay the ridiculous price they ask from us and only buy skins using shards that are designed with the left hand during lunch hours. (Well obviously I am exaggerating here a bit but you know what I mean...)

Same. But I have half less amount.
I like to unlock new cosmetics if it fits to some piece from the rift to make interesting outfit combos. Yui's shorts from rift fits to her happi coat for example. Together it looks like bathroom outfit.

Shards are good for plenty, including buying skins. If you don't like the skins you can buy with shards, that's a you problem, not a game problem.

Well duh that's how cosmetics work. The best stuff are behind a paywall. There are some good free skins but not that many. Use your shards instead to buy new killers and survivors.

I've never found a genuinely good reason to spend shards on skins as skins with that currency option tend to be three times the price of a playable killer when it's a very rare tier. Every time a Mid-Chapter begins, I work my way up to 18k shards, allowing me to gain access to the latest original chapter without spending a dime. Bonus time to gain even more shards if the next chapter happens to be licensed.
