Error logic not found

-Game crashes doing something stupid

-Game recognizes it has crashed on it's own terms and you did not DC, kill the internet, or manually close the game.

-Create an error report, relaunch game

-you have been temporarily BANNED from matchmaking for DISCONNECTING

I would like to suggest a minor code update to address this issue:

If: GameCrashed=true then BanPlayerForOurError=How'BoutNo

how long before people figured a way to crash their game on purpose? Game crashes do not happen all that often, and if it's happening a great deal I would recomend you submit a ticket to have the information looked at and see what can be done as game crashes usually are windows or other programs on your pc causing issues, and even submitting the information can be augmented by a ticket. but also submitting a ticket under the guise of having them look at things and perhaps do something about that crash because of the penalty is possible I won't say they will but it's in the ticket options. but if you only crash once in a blue moon you won't have a problem getting back into the game after 5 minutes.

the people that abused the good will of Behavior are the ones to talk about here. they are the ones that made it necessary for the DC penalties to be put in! as it is they put in the thing that would discourage any kind of disconnection. it is on you to maintain your computer, games and connection to the ISP. out side of that you have no control over it if the network interupts but how is the system supposed to know any of this when there are people that spoof anything on the internet is well known, and it is well known that people use programs already to disconnect from multiplayer games to gain advantage. these are not what if's but more when it happens. So think of it this way, if people did not take advantage of out of match functionality which is at minimum an exploit or hacking to get advantage or just punish others or to do what ever, then it would not have been necessary.

If they find a way to do so, it should be fixed as soon as possible and people abusing this crash should be heavily banned because it will be an exploit.

Right now, the things stands that developers punish players for their mistake in the code. Do you know for how long game would crash if you get an infection score event as plague at the end of the game?

They need to remove the penalty altogether. The only thing it does is ban legit players due to crashes they can't control. The DCers will either still DC or will die on 1st hook both of which screws the entire game anyway.

If you open up the task manager and force quit the game, the game would see that as a crash. Because to the game something unexpected happened and it terminated incorrectly.

You could do the same by pulling the plug on your machine or by killing the internet. Anything that ends the game without actually hitting the quit button looks like an error.

The game only starts handing out bans after several DC's to deal with crashes...

right now as it stands it's rare for the game to crash. I have had one crash in 9 months. i have however had 10 internet outages in the last 3 months. sure it SUCKS that i get a 5 minute penalty when something like this happens. but want to know a secret? the crash i had two months ago was because of my display driver making an incorrect call, NOT because of the game code what so ever. Yes I would Love an automated system that knows the difference between an intentional crash of a program using windows based tools and programs (note, OUTSIDE of dbd's code). the only way to make that happen is to engage a much stricter Anti-cheat and other programs that can cause an issue with windows causing a program crash of what you are trying to protect.

as to the came crashing if i get an inflection point as plague I'd say it won't as I have never had that happen to me. 9 out of 10 program crashes are windows related, not game related and I've seen some doozies.

well if they still dc they get penalized just like anyone else, therefore it is working properly and should stay. "suicide on hook" well i'm sorry you feel that it is bad to allow players to try and get off the hook and continue to play, i mean how can you punish someone for using functions provided within the match???

I agree with everything you say, but the last, it is not handing them out till multiple crashes happen something else may happen, the crash may not be seen as a dc for some reason or the time it takes is more than the current penalty time you get for it to restart and what not. say you get a 10 minute time out because of a crash and you have to reboot your computer, it takes 7 minutes for you to get this to be done, reconnect to the internet and then reconnect to the game takes more than 3 minutes at that point you never see the penalty.
