Who else hates the new animation update?
I love playing dead by daylight, it took me a long time to get good at the game. And no matter how good I get there’s always a challenge, making it fun! I love the decorations added, very beautiful. It all looks nice and crisp, I hate how we can’t bop and weave (dodge killers) anymore, practically just forcing a player to be stealthy. What’s with killers hitting me 10 ft away? I get the annoying lag of being able to hit me through the window (when it clearly shows i jumped through faster then the hut). Played 4 games with my bestfriend who’s a lvl 1, and I’m a lvl 8, and even he had difficulties. Are these adjustments tooo OP for the killer? Or is it both killer and survivor struggling? The animation was just fine before.... Anyone else have similar experience with this latest update?

Main thing I hate is how urban evasion looks now

Well I do like how the ground animations look. The standing and running animations though...

Yeah it doesn’t even feel like dead by daylight to me anymore, it feels like a cheap knock off. The graphical standpoint is gorgeous so I’m loving that. The new animations look pretty cool too but The new survivor movement feels hindered to me almost like it’s slower but I know it’s not. It’s much more stiff then it was before. Have you tried to juke a huntresses hatchet in the open? Well you are 99% going to get hit, you can’t bob and weave like before. It’s like you’re turning radius has been reduced drastically. It’s almost as if you pivot when trying to turn too sharply. It doesn’t feel smooth anymore, feels clunky. I’ve put 700 hours in this game and just started to feel very confident in my looping but now it’s like I have 0 hrs in the game. I know my hours are peanuts compared to others so I can imagine the frustration of people have say 5k hrs on survivor.
If they were going to change something so drastically as say survivor movement they should’ve just made a dead by daylight 2. The majority of this mew patch is just terrible. Sad because this WAS my favorite game, now not so much. It’s hard for me to take matches seriously anymore. With the new hit boxes and new movement I literally just go into matches just messing around knowing I’m going to get hit from a mile away and I just laugh at all this crap NO ONE asked for. Are they trying to kill their own game? Really makes you wonder.

I think its a very common complaint no one really likes these animations they're really bad and make the survivor feel slower.
1 -
im fine with them mostly
5 -
I hate them. The only good one is the slugged/recovering animation.
The really bad one is the injured animation. The rest are mediocre, a step down from the what we had before this update.
2 -
I love them honestly but the new movement feels bad
3 -
What's not to like?
0 -
It's all in your head. The movement feels exactly the same.
3 -
I don't really care about most of the animation changes, but that idle stance.. hoo boy.
0 -
To be fair, poop-scooting around with Urban always looked dumb.
4 -
Nah you can’t 360 or quick turn to double back as easily. You also can’t spin while slugged
5 -
The new animations are so awful. They look inhuman.
2 -
No it isn't, the reason that you can't 360 anymore is that the devs changed the way that survivors turn.
1 -
I like them mostly, they need some more polish, but seriously they have much more weight and realness to them then the old animation.
1 -
its funny because most of the animations are more realistic than they were before. We are just so used to the old way that the new animations feel weird
3 -
I disagree. Especially if you look at it from the killer perspective. The legs move too close together and don't have any swing. The back never moves, and the shoulders don't move enough. And none of it is fluid, it looks like they are missing frames of animation.
1 -
I like them in a sense.
It's like a a nice shirt that's all wrinkled and in serious need ironing. Looks nice but it's stiff

They look like clunky cartoon characters.
1 -
i only like the new nooding i can feel like terminator then

The new animations are a lot better and feel more realistic, but people just aren’t used to it yet and sadly this game has a stubborn community, that hates everything new and complains so much, that it gets changed again. That’s one of the reasons why this game feels so outdated.
2 -
Preach. You couldn't have said it better

Have you ever watched humans move? Because the current animations are not the way. The back should move when walking or running. It stays static and straight. Legs do not move that close together, and they actually swing when you walk and run. This isn't about new versus old and needed to get used to it. These are bad animations.

While some of the animations look odd, the one thing that they did improve was the issue of frame drops when survivors attempt a 360. I play on xbox and the changes have eliminated the problem and smoothed out the animation so that the reaction time is no longer lost in frame drops and choppy transition.

I hate them. Worst change in a long time. The walking animation with Fixated doesn't seem to "loop" properly so my character is constantly glitching out and will stutter for a second before shooting forward.

Of course they need to be more polished, but they are still better than the old ones where everyone was looking like Quasimodo. The old animations look outdated and it would be a horrible idea to bring them back.

worst patch ever. its unplayable

I think they looked fine. They moved smoothly. They looked scared, or weary, or exhausted. Numerous types of emotions could be captured in it. Now they look like robots. Malfunctioning robots who have only watched humans animated during the 70's

I don't mind the new animations compared to everything else wrong with this patch.
0 -
People keep saying they were more realistic because survivors are supposed to be scared, but I’ve never seen a horror movie where someone looked like this.
One thing that I noticed tho, is that many of the survivors have weird disproportionate bodies, which gets more visible with the new animations.

The animations are a separate thing from networking and player movement.

I like the new animations. The quick movement left/right then back is terrible, though. Really needs to be fixed. Can't do multiple quick turns anymore but the animations, I like. You crouch slightly lower than you use to behind stuff so it makes hiding easier.

Did they just use Ghostface's animations?
The UI is a downgrade to the one we had.

And the old animation were any better, come on lol
1 -
No. They’re really unnatural:
- When you run it doesn’t seem like the survivor is doing a “great effort”, he seems like a sleepwalker running.
- When you’re injured it’s physically impossible to stay still.
- The moves when you’re turning seems sooooo robotic
Maybe the old ones weren’t very aesthetic but they were clearly more natural and their fear by their old postures were noticeable. Now they seems like they don’t feel threatened anymore.

They where at least fluid and looked good. These look like trash.
