Are offensive usernames bannable?
Serious question. Does BHVR ban offensive Steam usernames, or is that completely something that only Steam handles? Someone was named "Minorities Only" and only killed survivors of color, is this something that can land them a ban in game, or only on Steam?

I'm not sure who handles that. The username would be steam but because that username was used as a way to bully and harass in game feels like a BHVR problem. So idk.

Hence my confusion.

That really is a tough one. I can definitely see why it's confusing.

I've seen some pretty offensive usernames and they didn't seem to have any effect because I saw them again, same person too, over the course of a week or two.
If it's bad enough to get reported, maybe? Otherwise, eh, who cares really.

That can lead to a ban in game, yes. You'll have to have definitive proof of what they are doing however and make a full additional player report information ticket with support.
That is the kind of example of the rare instance where "Tunnelling" is possibly considered an actual bannable offense.
Reporting with steam however for the name, is tricky, because they will have no understanding of the context so nothing can be done there. If the name was clearly offensive in it's own right, than you could report on steam as well and action will eventually be taken; but this one is too vague for that I imagine.

For example, Fall guys give you random names to moderate people with obnoxious usernames.
If you think about it, this is stupid.
It is a steam problem, not DBD or any other game as an individual.

It’s an offensive game by design. Let it go.

The name "Minorities only" by itself doesn't violate any steam guidelines, so steam reports won't do anything in this case.

You'd have to report it to BHVR. Steam can't do anything cuz the name itself doesn't break any rules. Even then I'm not sure BHVR would do anything unless they were absolutely sure. Maybe they just really hate Claudettes but the name doesn't have anything to do with it. It all depends on the context.

Steam usernames, just like nametags on console, are handled by their own platform, so if you think one is insulting, report them to Steam.
Regarding the rest, targeting is griefing, if someone is specifically targeting some players and they get reported multiple times with evidence, that can lead to a ban.

Can I get some clarification on this as a new player. If I have someone on hook and their team is silly enough to go for the save without borrowed time, right in front of me, so I defend and re-hook, then they do it yet again, so I repeat resulting in a kill, can I be banned for “targeting” or “tunnelling”?

you can get banned oni if you target one person and dont even try to kill others dsurvivors, thats kind of targeting can get you banned and you have to do im many times to one survivor
1 -
no, it would need to be targeting specific person/people over the course of several matches as the OP explained in their first post.

Alright good because the scenario I have has happened several times and I’ve only just started playing lol.
