Friendly warning about ps messages
Meeting new people through dbd and in general is nice and all but you can be banned for simple jokes if one day they randomly decide to report your messages. One by one.
There is a chance to be permanently banned and kiss everything you own digitally goodbye. Forever.
I decided to set everything on private and just have my close real life friends in my friends list. And I changed my id to be extra sure.
How are things on xbox btw? I was a really loyal sony fan since ps1but now I am rethinking to either switch to xbox or pc.

Whenever anybody messages you on anything (especially PSN), you shouldn't get baited into saying something you regret, because then the person that messaged you has accomplished their goal of being toxic with somebody else being punished for it.
I personally like to make them mad with no-effort responses, but if somebody happened to tickle my fancy, I usually get the last word in & block them. Why continue an argument you'll never win?

I got banned by PlayStation because a salty survivor I beat couldn't take his L like a champ

I’ve had my messages and friend requests turned off for awhile now. I’ve yet to meet a nice person over PlayStation. So I’ve just given up. It’s easier to just play solo. I’ve never played with somebody and thought “wow I’d love to play with them again” 🤷🏻♀️

Whenever someone messages me nonsense I report them immediately. You can even get banned on the PlayStation forums so don't go there. If you get banned there, your actual PSN is banned also.

I've been banned for 3 day's and didn't even say anything bad imo.
Sure I've seen that got warnings but didn't expect to get banned over it.
Where did I got those warnings for?
Very simple, some people just don't know when to stop and just continue to message for hours.
So i simply responded "just shut the f uck up and go cry somewhere else, or get a live"
And just because the F word was in the sentence they reported that and i got the warning for it, which eventually led into a 3 day ban.
I'm someone who love to get into a discussion with salty people but not for hours (yes there was even 1 who couldn't let go for more than a year), so at a certain point I just say let's agree to disagree and move on.
Yet if they continue for a while after that, then I used to respond what I said earlier.
After the ban I just don't respond anymore on salty people.
If i have to watch out for using the F word and Sony doesn't look at previous messages, than better not react to it anymore

I am sorry to say this but yeah it is possible... There is even a case about some guy that got banned in similar way I can find it if you want.
That is why I am thinking about moving on from Sony. It is ridiculous to lose everything so easily.

If your messaging a friend and you curse can you be banned? Or do they have to report you?

Is the person responsible for banning not checking the evidence or if the report is justified?
Banning is a severe punishment and as far as I know, several people have to report the same person for inappropriate speech just to give that person a ban.
Users need to be more careful and avoid quarreling in chat, we all know that quarreling is unnecessary.

Most of it is just automated they don't check anything. If you for example say you are an a.. to your friend jokingly and they report you, you get warnings or a ban. If someone said horrible things to you and you say shut up and they report you. . . you are the only one that is going to suffer the consequences.
Now imagine joking with a friend in multiple separate messages. One below the other. You and your friend have a fight and he/she decides to report all of them. It will pile up and you are going to become permanently banned from ps.

Didn't Xbox have the procedure that, if you simply got enough reports, you'd automatically be banned?
So y'know, you could be reported many times ONLY by sore losers, and YOU'd be the one facing the consequences.
I've never owned an Xbox, so i don't know a lot about it, but i believe this is/was a thing.

I enjoy it more on Xbox, as people really have to go an extra mile to message you, and if they're on a separate counsel type (pc, switch, ect) they can't post-game message you at all.
As far as the automatic ban system, I'm uncertain as I've never ran into it..

It was on the 360 back during MW2 days.
Now though? Xbox needs to see evidence of wrongdoing AND their appeal system actually works. I appealed when I was falsely banned for cheating and I was gifted some free stuff as compensation.

I used to get com-banned on Xbox all the time because I would flame the ######### outta salty survivors that messaged me. Sadly, I had to stop cursing in my responses, because it was getting out of hand.
I don't know what it's like on PlayStation, but from what I've seen it's salty.

My son was banned Saturday for telling a killer he was ugly Asf. That was the exact spelling I got on microsoft and checked the ban. He has also been banned for saying to a friend that "Adam said you can die in a fire" he was caught in the middle 2 friends beef and got suspended. Xbox will send you a message if the reported message gets the person banned I have seen it multiple times so when I get multiple messages now from survivors/killers I either give a thumbs up or if I'm really not in the mood I will report because anything can get banned on xbox.

The reputation system on Xbox isn't really better. If a SWF decides to report you for no reason (and these "special" SWFs will always find reasons as it let them feels better after "losing"), there's not much you can do about 4x reports. DbD was the only game my rep went negativ at one point. Then they introduced crossplay. Till then i don't have to bother with rep and msgs anymore. The only thing i miss are the GG msgs.
My advice if you really don't want to activate crossplay would be: Don't react to any msg besides a "GG". Trust me, it's always a timewaste.
Or just deactivate msgs if you're not in a good mood or if you're very sensitive in general, it's more healthy.

Personally i love baiting people who trash talk me into swearing so i can report them. Its one of my favorite things to do on xbox.

I got some hate mail from a salty survivor and I responded by saying that I camped a bit because it was annoying chasing you little s***s around.
I didn't even mean it insultingly, its not even that bad. But they replied saying "oh that's nice, I'm going to report you for that"

xbox automatically comm bans when you send a swear, slur, or anything profanity, meanwhile you are playing rated M games, its pretty stupid but i just switched to PC so I don’t care anymore

I haven't had any issues with it.
Most SWF's on Xbox hate me lmao and I imagine that they have tried reporting me before. I just send them Gg :) and that's it.

This is exactly what I was warning people about, you'll never win an argument against these people. Even if you line up the facts and have countless points as your reasoning, they'll still find some bullsh*t answer, insult or excuse to throw back at you and then the argument just never ends. Can't debate with a hard-headed person.
With this being said, it is purely your own fault for using vulgar language. Do I think they should've been banned instead since they provoked you? Yes. Do I think you using the F word was awful & deserved the punishment? Hell no! But given PSN guidelines, they reframed from that and you didn't. That's why I said, either block them from the get-go or just avoid using colorful language. It's simple, stop letting them get into your head.

Not saying my experience is fact, but Xbox is not nearly as bad as it use to be. Toxic messages wise. Maybe I'm just lucky? Others may get more or less toxicity than me. Even though I haven't got a toxic message in awhile I still try to gg people when I can, win lose or draw. 99% of the time they return it.
(I play both sides 40/60 btw)
