You know this update is very troubling if streamers are actually taking a break from the game

Monto just recently made some interesting tweets, and I can generally tell that this update left him unhappy with wanting to play the game. Of course he's doing the right thing of taking a break from the game if he's generally not happy with how it looks at the moment, but this definitely raises some eyebrows. Monto has quite an influence on the success of DBD for how much content he's put out for the game, and he's definitely drawed in some new people to play the game. But with someone like him taking a break because of the negatives the mid chapter brought, do you really think that we're getting a glimpse of the potential downfall of DBD? Just think about what the Binding of Kin and the mid chapter gave us, a handful of bugs along with a new UI that people didn't want that gave people headaches or potential eye strains. I know Monto isn't a Fog Whisper, but with someone that has a big audience that he does him taking a break will also lead to a lot of his fans doing the same. Now if someone liked Otz took a break from DBD, I would expect there to be massive uproar in the community.

@MrsPuddles well that's good for you, but recently I've seen Monto hasn't enjoyed it. And Umbra everyone's favorite Huntress main hasn't even played the new update, because even she doesn't like how everything looks. I'm just saying if the well known DBD streamers are taking a break from the game with how bad the update is, then you know BHVR didn't do a pretty good job so far.

The game will only die once BHVR decides to pull the plug on the game, and stop making content for it. But with the game we have now, it won't be in a good state if actual competition arises.

Well if we look at the ancient World of Warcraft, that game for as old as it is still going strong.

I literally have no idea who Umbra is, but I’m sure if I streamed DBD, I’d have to take a break as well. Mostly because the teammates I get are absolutely infuriating most of the time. I’m still enjoying DBD as much as I did before the update. Like any game I play online, sometimes I love it and other times I hate it because of the people I’m paired with. It just is what it is.

My point was, it shouldn’t matter if a popular streamer stops playing. Why should that effect my views on the game? I’m capable of forming my own opinion.

I wouldn't say it's a worship mentality, it's only that when people use streamers opinions and treat them as if they're fact. And yes streamers can't branch away from a specific game, because it's hard to get their fans of wanting to watch other stuff. At that point the viewers basically care more for the game, not the streamer themself.

No Doubts. It could go a long while. It has to either keep a long term players. Or constantly be bringing in newer ones to replace those that left.

Judging solely off the forums. There is a mix of both. But, you do see a lot of people leaving the forums never to return. As well a lot of new accounts.

    But, inevitably, everythings eventual

I don't think popular Streamers taking a break for DbD are going to cause others to do so too. I think it is odd to suggest that people would not make their own choices. However, I do think it is telling that people who make their living streaming video games are deciding that DbD is not currently up to their standards. That is not a good sign. Will it kill DbD? No, of course not. Games don't just die, i.e. turn off like a light. They fade away like film franchises, slowing going from classic cinema in the first movies to embarrassing schlock by the last few sequels. Dead by Daylight is going to be around for a long time, but that doesn't tell us anything about the quality or how many of us will still be showing up to play it.

People who get PAID to stream playing video games are EXCELLENT canaries in the coal mine. It means they are making a professional choice which impacts their wallet. That has weight. BEhavior should take it seriously.

So many people in this thread are so so so silly. You don't have to make this about you and your distaste for the streaming community. It's one mans likeness for a particular popular player with many followers who makes some sort of income playing, that despises the current state of the game enough to leave.

The game right now is in a pathetic place. Sure, feel forced to defend it all you want... it is objectively buggy as hell. Balancing is an absolute mess and far too many outdated mechanics.

It's a wonderful game concept and base design. It has many redeeming qualities and can provide the same for years to come. But currently, it's in an AWFUL state.

Basically how we all feel. The game has a lot more potential to be better, but gets held back by ignorant decisions by BHVR.

Can I be honest? I think the devs were so prompt to respond to the backlash because of the negative publicity this update is getting not on streams but in Steam reviews. Look at the spike in negative reviews when this patch came out. Went from something like "very good" to "mixed". That is affecting the image of the game very notably, more so than a streamer who already was inconsistent in streaming DBD before this update saying he won't be streaming until things are fixed.

There are still tonnes of core DBD streamers who stream the game regularly, like tru3, tofu, bronx, otz, and so on. Streamers not streaming DBD is not an issue. DBD is still one of the most popular categories to stream on Twitch.

"everything is fixed" lol. So he's basically done with dbd?

And it's disappointing that everyone who has expressed their unhappiness with the game, just wants it to be in a healthy state where everyone can have fun playing.

As you say, if it is their business, and sticking with DBD affects their viewcount and cash flow, then it absolutely speaks volumes if a high profile streamer is willing to risk their monetary income and livelihood because the game is in such a bad state.

But people like Otz and Tru3 who have the largest following on DBD, and are also Fog Whispers. If they were to actually take a break from the game, it could spark an uproar within the community and at BHVR. Those two have gone above and beyond with the success of DBD, and those two have always discussed things that could be better and improved on. Which is why you see people always recommending them to newer players.

I think he means until the UI and hitboxes are improved, bad wording on his part I guess.

Genuine question and I don't mean to be rude but how? Are you only playing killer at the moment? I'm a killer main personally but occasionally I like to balance it out by playing survivor I legit just couldn't do it. After 3 games I was on the verge of uninstalling this game because of how bad the hitboxes were. Only reason I gave the game another chance is because BHVR is working on the UI otherwise I'd be out anyways.

Are you not experiencing hitbox issues?

I'm a survivor main mostly (play killer occasionally) and im also taking a break till this is fixed. Survivor hitboxes/desync make the game genuinely unenjoyable and almost unplayable and my only other option is to wait nearly up to 10 mins for a killer game and most of the time killer just stresses me out too much. So thats why I'm gonna take a break

    This 100%

I would love to play another game but there's just no Multiplayer game out there for me that could really replace DbD for me.

This game has so much potential, but BHVR just chooses to waste it.I really lovr this game which is why it hurts even more.

I seriously hope this company gets a wake up call one way or the other. They really need it.

Otz has one of the bigger followings if not the biggest, but you Tru3 doesn't have the second biggest, unless you meant amongst the Fog Whisperers. If not, you have many other DBD streamers with huge followings as well: Bronx, Umbra, ANGRYPUG, OhTofu (he's a Fog Whisperer afaik), hexy, and you have streamers in other languages who get thousands of views. You have korean streamers who almost rival Otz's numbers.

There are plenty of streamers to go around. But I think your general point is the poster boys of the game in certain areas, if they quit, will it be problematic, and I think sure it would. But I don't think any fog whisperer is that much of a poster to where if they quit it would be problematic for the game. I just think whatever makes them quit is going to be the problem, since it would have to be really intense and seriously bad. Much worse than this update.
