Why does Spirit attract terrible people?
I’ve noticed that every Spirit player I’ve gone against has one thing in common, they all try to be as annoying as possible. Such as extreme tunnelling, hitting people on the hook over and over, slugging the last survivor and just following them around instead of hooking etc. I’ve noticed it more with Spirit than any other killer. What is it about Spirit that attracts these type of players? 🤔

Sweeping generalization

Strength, probably. Stronger killers tend to attract sweatier players.
I'm not saying always, I've ran into plenty of good Nurses and Blight's that were complete bros. And on the opposite end, I've ran into Wraith's and even Demo's (completely besmirching the name of the beloved Demodog) who were more sweaty and annoying then any other killer. I will admit, Spirit is consistent with her players being very sweaty. I think I've had only two that didn't treat the game as actual life or death.

I'm a spirit main and I try and play as fairly as possible; I think because spirit is a powerful killer (not OP as most would say but top tier), people have an automatic stigma against her. I thjnk as well its highlighted more than other killers; because spirit is more powerful than an average killer the theory would be they don't have to resort to the tactics you mentioned ie extreme tunnelling. So when they do that its even more annoying

If it makes you feel any better, I make it a rule to never do things like this as killer, along with running Stridor on Spirit (unless it was hitting an Élodie on hook with het old scream). I play survivor more often than killer and know how annoying Spirit can be so I try not to play like other Spirits. One thing I cannot stand about other Spirit players is when they run Stridor to counter Iron Will and then shake their head at a survivor they just downed, as though they could have done anything about it.

Not all spirit players play the same way
And it's not the killer, but the person who is playing that killer

I ran stridor on spirit for the tome challenge and felt bad for doing it. I fully agree playing both sides makes you not only a better player but a more empathetic one. Also about the head shaking you mentioned its just about respect, only time I'd ever do that would be to a toxic t-bagger

I assume it's to tilt the enemy. Like I know survivors that are really really good. They pull out all the stops because they know they're that good. Of course, sometimes it bites them in the butt. For whatever reason they perform way worse whenever we SWF for fun, even though they try to show off so much.

I know it’s the person playing. But I’ve noticed that the people who like to deliberately try to make others have a miserable experience seem to play Spirit. I’ve noticed it with her more than any other killer. It’s gotten to the point where when I know I’m facing a Spirit, I expect that behaviour lol.
Maybe like others have said, it’s because she’s strong so it’s easier to pull off. People can play however they want, I just find it odd that some people like to try to annoy others. It’s just weird to me. Why try to be a dick just because?

Explanation
A sweeping generalisation applies a general statement too broadly. If one takes a general rule, and applies it to a case to which, due to the specific features of the case, the rule does not apply, then one commits the sweeping generalisation fallacy. This fallacy is the reverse of a hasty generalisation, which infers a general rule from a specific case.
Example
(1) Children should be seen and not heard.
(2) Little Wolfgang Amadeus is a child.
Therefore:
(3) Little Wolfgang Amadeus shouldn’t be heard.
No matter what you think of the general principle that children should be seen and not heard, a child prodigy pianist about to perform is worth listening to; the general principle doesn’t apply.

Terrible people play all the characters in this game, for me, it's usually Freddy, but I've had teammates more toxic than any killer.

I blame Streamers.
All Spirit Streamers are assinine jerks and their viewers all idolize and emulate them.
4 -
I’ve yet to face a Spirit player who hasn’t tried to deliberately be a dick. So... 💁🏻♀️

They have been bullied on loopable killers and are now dead inside.

I have actually mentioned this a couple times before on the forums. the hook notification is like a dinner bell to spirit players. Even in mid chase "Oh sparky phase time" do don't dc cause it's a waste to my offerings and items but man spirit make me want to eat a bullet frfr. On the flip side Doc is another complete douche tap one button oh hey found you he he, tap one button wait no one tunnel then. Tunneling Doc 3 times yesterday and not easy to deal with when your trying to get close for a save and you get zapped by his radar so he knows your coming. So petty.

But you haven't faced all Spirits, hence my point this is a sweeping generalization.
To answer an assumption that people who play Spirit in your experience play like dicks, I suspect they started out playing regularly powerful Killers, got sick of playing the game nicely but still getting abused in in-game chat, or subjected to teabag victory rituals, and googled "what's the strongest Killer", and proceeded to take out their annoyance on (sometimes innocent) survivors, by playing a powerful Killer, and not winning in a graceful manner. It's often the way this game goes.

Wow, look at you over here assuming every Spirit player is bad. I play Spirit a lot and go out of my way to not camp or tunnel. I even give people hatch if someone DCed early and/or someone suicided on hook early. People like you are the reason this community is so divided.

Thanks for that Mr. Dictionary. I know what generalisation is, but from my OWN PERSONAL experience I’ve never gone against a Spirit that didn’t try to be a dick. So my question was and still is, why do these types of players pick Spirit? Why isn’t it Freddy? Or Pyramid Head? I can only comment on what I’ve experienced.
1 -
Well, good for you. But from what I’ve seen, most Spirit players aren’t like this. And save the ‘people like me’ BS. Don’t be so dramatic. We’re not going to war. 🤦🏻♀️

Ah yes, let's ignore facts and logic so we can talk about your "lived experiences" i can guess how you vote.

They probably got bullied to hell as a Trapper or Wraith and are taking it out on others with a stronger character. It happens. Personally the only killer I notice that is consistently toxic is Ghostface, but it figures since he can camp, instadown and tbag

On my end, Huntress is the most camp.tunneler one. Second to PH
I play Trapper & Spirit the most, I do put top tier perks on Spirit, mainly to relax playing, double hook and let them escape.

lol I love how this guy just straight up copy & pasted a google search as a reply😂

Where have I ignored facts or logic? I asked a simple question. From my experience, Spirit players all go out of their way to be dicks. I can only comment on my own experience. I was wondering what it is about Spirit that attracts that type of behaviour over other killers. And also, I don’t vote as I don’t care. 💁🏻♀️

Definition of an absolute loser. 🤦🏻♀️😂

I don't think I've ever gone against a toxic Spirit in my past two years of playing. I've came across sweaty Spirit mains of course, but they weren't toxic.
