The Free Track of the Rift needs more stuff
Tome 6 is already out, meaning a new rift. Now, I don't know about you, but to me it feels like this Rift has even less things on the free track than the previous ones (actually I am pretty confident that is how it is).
I think that is an issue, every other game where I've seen a battlepass system they always fill up the Free track with just as much stuff as the paid track, or at least half of it. I think it's time the devs did the same in DbD. Even though I am one of the people to always buy the premium pass because I always get to level 70, I still think the Free Track should have more stuff, because it benefits me AND people who don't buy the pass.
I remember back when the Rift was leaked that we saw slots with BP and Shards and I think that is a great idea! It's a quick and easy thing to populate the Free Track with. You could also do more reskins or even existing skins in the store.
For reskins, you could literally just change the Hue of the item, here is me making a mockup of such a possible cosmetic.
I took Ghostface's original cosmetic
Changed the hue to -90
and got this reskin.
Boom, a new reskin done in less than a minute and you can do this with multiple pieces, doesn't even have to be a whole set.
The other thing you could put on the Free track are existing cosmetics from the shop, like Common tier ones, maximum Uncommon. And what if you already have that skin? Give people shards instead!
Overall, I think it's time the Free track of the rift was more populated with things, rather than feel like you are forced to get the paid track. You should always feel rewarded for unlocking a level in the rift!

As much as I love this, you know a lot of players would whine that the cosmetics are just slight recolors and not give a ######### that they are free

Yes, I mean, I've even seen people complain about the reskins we got now, because they are from mobile. Completely forgetting that we wanted them on PC when we saw them when they came out on mobile!
Like, I'd hope not that many people would complain, but even just adding shards and BP would be 10000x better than just having nothing.

Seriously what's stopping them from putting shards into some of the slots? It doesn't even need to be something crazy just put like 500 shards in a couple of the slots.

It could even just be spread out, 50 shards every level. After 20 tiers you essentially get 1k shards. Obviously I am stingy because idk how generous they want to be. Personally I'd love it if we could end up earning 5k shards or more per Rift, but to be honest, anything would be better than nothing at all.

I mean, a small amount of extra auric cells would be neat too. Like, yeah, you get all 1k you spend on the premium pass back, but like, if you give like an extra 50 per rift or something like that, it will be a long time before you get enough to even buy a skin or something.

The thing is, the "Paid" track, isn't really paid. It's free as long as you get to lvl 70, which is reeeeaaaally easy. BHVR is already giving you a lot free stuff as long as you put in the time. Greedy give me more it's mine I deserve it culture...

at least that is the logic they are using... In reality more would pay for the track because they get more from it.

Something i would like to see added to either track of the rift would be loading screens. With this they could have less of the useless charms. For the loading screens they could use the old art that was used to show off a new skin.

I have no idea why Bloodpoints and Iridescent Shards aren't part of the rift. 500K total BP and maybe 5K total Shards would be nice. It wouldn't be crazy to put Auric Cells on the free track as well, as high-tier rewards. Maybe 100-200 in total?
Also, why so many reskins on the Premium track? A reskin doesn't feel "premium" - it feels cheap. If the cosmetics take too much time to make, why not throw one of the older Auric Cells-only store outfits on there? I'd be fine with that every now and then.

I know it's nothing personal when the team decides to put so little in the free rift.
But still it feels like they don’t want to reward their players even when it not comes to cosmetics.
As a player who bought some cosmetics with real money, I feel like they just want more and more money and not really give us anything for free, for the enjoyment of the game or to make the players happy.
It's maybe the only game that makes me feel so sad because I don't enjoy anything outside of matches.
Free bloodpoints is nothing really.
I would like to get free Iridescent Shards or Auric Cells.
We can't get both too easily like bloodpoints so I wonder why they don't want to give it to us once in awhile or when they make a new events.

What? I don't think asking for the free track to have more stuff, even something as simple as BP or shards, is really greedy. I paid for this game, for every DLC, bought a bunch of auric cells, bought a bunch of cosmetics. The least they can do is make the free track seem worth it.
I agree with this wholeheartedly. Personally, I find that making the Free Track contain so little just makes people less interested in engaging with it at all. Which means they play the game less. But, if the Free Track now suddenly is filled to the brim with things, people feel encouraged to actually play the game to unlock tiers. Which, if they unlock enough, might make them go "you know what, I already unlocked so much of the Rift, might as well buy the Premium Track"

I've bought a bunch of stuff to, but BHVR didn't twist our arms and makes us buy anything, that was our choice and we got what we paid for.
So, yes, I think asking for more than what I paid for is greedy.
The base game + all the DLC's (not including the soundtrack or cosmetics) is $147. I've spent nearly 4,000 hours playing this game. 4,000 divided by 147 comes to about 27. That means, for each $1 I spent on this game, I've gotten 27 hours worth of entertainment.
Worth every penny.

I've literally commented as to why filling the Free Track would even be a good design decision. It's not greedy rewarding your playerbase for engaging with a mechanic. Greedy is them making the Free Track so barren that you are forced to buy the premium track to feel you got something out of it.
Neither I, nor everybody who agrees with me, is greedy for asking that the Free Track be populated with simple things, like BP or Shards. Greedy would be if we asked that the Free Track contained a bunch of rare or even legendary cosmetics. Bloodpoints and iri shards are far from being a tall ask.

They should definitely add BP and shards to the free track. Right now only about 20 spaces out of 70 have something and it just looks bad being so empty even if you open up the premium track.
Putting something like BP and shards into the free track would also encourage those that wouldn't buy the paid track. Right now nothing is encouraging those that haven't bought premium track to play. There's a big difference between getting a reward every 10 fragments and getting one every 30-40 fragments. If you've received 8/10 fragments you'll play few extra rounds to get to 10, if it's 8/30 fragments you're not going to bother. If players are playing those few extra rounds to get the BP/Shard reward they'll probably make it further into the rift and be more willing to buy the premium rift to get the extra rewards.
Free track should be filled with cheap stuff like BP, shards, charms, and recolored outfits while premium should be filled with the better stuff like new/rare outfits and auric cells.

Now lets look at the language you used here ----> "forced to buy the premium track"... The fact that you chose these words is very troubling. You need to walk back what you said and go talk to someone who's actually been forced to do something against their will before you start spouting of nonsense like this, sounding childish and ignorant.
