Let Me Die on First Hook? Hope You All Fail
Just had a match where all three teammates were focused solely on gens and nothing else. I was the only one not a try hard red rank. I saved multiple people from hooks and these three didn’t even bother to try and save me. They just focused on gens and said he was camping! He was nowhere near me. Done with these people.

You can always try to run Kindred and Deliverance to negate a bit of those issues... maybe add Decisive Strike for good measure.
Solo queuing is pretty bad though and yeah people suck.
6 -
It's dumb you have to run kindred in solo queue a lot of the time, you shouldn't have to waste a perk slot on that kinda thing- but it helps.
I wish they would add what scott suggested, with a communication system via pre made selectable messages, that would help a lot.
I am surprised they were at least doing gens, that's more than I ever get haha.

I had Kindred. That’s how I saw them all gen rushing on the other side of the map and didn’t see the killer’s aura at all around me.
2 -
I had Kindred and saw them on the other side of the map gen rushing and the Killer’s aura was no where near me. No heartbeat nothing. They said he was camping but they didn’t even try to make their way over to me.

You can always see the other survivors when on the hook regardless of perks, I meant it more as a way to show people if the killer is camping and also allow them to see if someone's gonna save. Sucks that the killer wasn't around though, they even knew you had Kindred..
1 -
Yeah I feel you there. Scott Jund just proposed this idea to buff solo queue and it’s very good. Entity knows we need it because of how painful solo queue is.
2 -
Yeah it’s getting really bad for solo. Especially for the constant DC people.
0 -
The entire match all three of them were clustered together gen rushing. They weren’t planning on saving anyone I bet that wasn’t in their little threesome group.
3 -
Fun time for the whole family. Of course you weren't in the family so...
3 -
Sadly, this is probably true. One of the reasons I'm a STRONG advocate for splitting Solo and Team into different Ques is the 3-Person SWF is the worst. They often (well most of the time in fact) treat the Solo saddled with them as a "Red Shirt" in the classic Star Trek meaning of the term. You were a useful asset to them, nothing more. And yes, as you are not really "one of them" you are considered an acceptable sacrifice. It is just one more way in which SWF is problematic when not it its own Que.
3 -
Not that Kindred helps sometimes. If anything it just makes me angrier that no one is rescuing me.
0 -
And his idea is nothing more than a stopgap between current solo queue and SWF, so there's really no reason that it should hurt ANYONE.
0 -
Amen to that.

It's stupid on how you have to base your whole build around helping yourself because your teammates are practically useless.
Oh well.
0 -
This desperately needs to be a thing.
I'm kind of shocked it wasn't done sooner much less at all.
But no, let's rework survivor animations and break the game instead of making healthy changes to solo queue lol

Thanks for sharing your story with the class.

I hope Show and Tell I got an A

I'll even give it a A+

Kindred won’t help, you can feed all the info to survivors but if they’re stupid, they’re stupid.
1 -
It does help, I know it does because I often take actions based on what I see with it.
So if I do, some others probably do as well.
It absolutely does help. However yes, some survivors who are bad are till going to be bad regardless.
It does help though because again, I often change my actions based on what kindred shows, so often I imagine other survivors do as well. Not every survivor is a potato some are often just handicapped by solo queues lack of information.
2 -
When I encounter groups like this I usually try to stay on the opposite side of the map from them. I work gens, break totems, loot chests, search for hatch, and anything else I need to do for a daily or challenge. I play it safe and hide anytime I hear a heartbeat. I have gone from dying first to often being the last one down or even escaping. ######### them. Solo queue is rough and I assume I'm a lone wolf until I see differently.
0 -
Usually you can’t tell they are a little group until it’s too late for you.
1 -
If I see they have no intention of saving me and they very reasonably could without throwing the game for themselves, I'm dying on hook.
I really hate how you have to bring Kindred to make solo queue tolerable. There is no amount of game sense that is going to let you know if someone is being saved or not/whether or not it is the smart decision for you to save/etc.

My general rule is, if there's more than 2 gens left and I am allowed to go to struggle on my first hook, I just don'ts truggle and leave for next game.
I don't mind going to struggle phase from first hook when only 2 gens are left and my teammates are scrambling to finish the gen, but if it's still early or earlymid game and you don't rescue me I want nothing further to do with such a bad team.
My finger will "accidentally" slip on the struggle key and now you guys can have fun with the killer as I prepare for my next game.
Now that survivor queues are instant again it's no big deal.
5 -
No dude, Kindred absolutely helps.
There will still be potatos out there, but in general using perks that give your teammates info is huge in solo queue.
That's why perks like Aftercare, Better Together and Blood Pact are extremely underrated. Kindred gets all the attention but those three perks are also gold in Solo Q. And I'd bring a Wedding Ring each time if only Green Key had a different color from Purple and Pink keys. Wedding Ring is that amazing. But painting a giant target on your back by bringing a key in lobby isn't. Why is why I smile whenever I pull a Wedding Ring from a chest using Ace in the Hole.

As much as I respect you for defending Kindred as I use it all the time, but like I said before it can’t help stupid survivors.
When you’re on a hook, all survivors auras are revealed to everyone. This is GREAT info, the fact that everyone can see each other is HUGE, but that doesn’t stop survivors from Self caring in a corner, hiding in a locker or crouching somewhere.
Kindred can not help stupid survivors.

Was this on the Japanese map against a Plague?
If not this exact thing happened with me too. I was the killer, got a hook early on; left the area to find the other three survivors; came back and found survivor 1 going into their third hook stage. No one even attempted to save them, even whil I was across the map.
1 -
No this was a match against a Deathslinger.
0 -
Kindred can't help stupid survivors, but not all survivors are stupid.
Thus Kindred helps. Not running Kindred means good survivors will have a harder time figuring out what to do. So while I respect you for pointing out that there are stupid survivors, I can't agree with you saying that Kindred doesn't help.

Or they ######### in the end game chat because you weren't on comms with them and weren't able to read their minds. Thats always my favorite part....
5 -
This is why I run Deliverance in most of my solo matches. I try to not rely on team mates at all right now.
I don't normally get hooked first, so I always make sure to make the save, then at least I can save myself if my team mates don't want to make saves.
2 -
I feel your pain. It's why as a solo I run kindred (although that doesn't always work 100% of the time, but when it doesn't and killer isn't camping your teammates really are the biggest potatoes if they let you die 1 hook. But its annoying, you shouldn't have to run kindred. If the killer is camping then doing gens is efficient but sounds like these guys were making excuses.
With survivor rank wonky just now I'm running Kindred (anti camp), DS (anti tunnel although not always effective against hard tunnel) and bond (at high rank overall but not always survivors will try run the killer away from remaining gens. At low rank definitely not the case. So at least I can see them coming). Im running these 3 and a 4th of choice every single game just now

My team usually run into the solo queue that'll
1. Kill themselves on first hook
2. Lead the killer to you
3. Hook bomb
4. Let you die on hook
That's honestly the majority we run into if we're running 3. When it's just my wife and I we tend to have better teammates.
0 -
Yeah ill not try very hard especially if i got hooked as a result of a teammate (such as they blocked me on accident, brought the killer to me, they did a loud action, etc) and they make no attempt to save me as well as their teammates. I've had games where the exit was opened, me and 2 players went to save the 4th and id get downed (first hook) and the 3 other survivors leave me (killer hadn't hooked or injured the other 2 at all). Very annoying and frustrating that solo play gives very little reason to be team oriented
0 -
Well i would suggest using Kindred, but even that perk cannot help sometimes. (aka from someone who was in the basement with an Insidious Bubba with Kindred and still people came to save me...resulting in both of us going down)
0 -
These people are the reason I'm starting to not have fun
If your team was so gen orentanted you wouldn't have an issue first hook dyeing
You were probably caught first in the basement and didn't want to play that match ind if it is a face camper just walk away and dont bother to struggle
0 -
It can't help stupid survivors you're right. Personally I use it to help me determine if I need to go for the save. It's honestly one of my favorite perks.
2 -
The same crap has happened to me all week if I don’t play with at least one friend. It’s honestly the main reason I hate playing without friends. I shouldn’t have to rely on myself for a team game.
0 -
I hadn't played in a bit and one of my first matches was dying on first hook after everyone else had been hooked twice/rescued. To be fair, I let the entity stab me during 2nd phase as they finally did come over to rescue me... and they brought the killer with them. And they didn't even get anything done while I was hooked!!!
Sadly I think he was going to spare me based on how he acted.
0 -
Which is why I assume they are until proven differently. If they get hooked and they don't seem to be a group, I'll try for the save. Otherwise I stay on gens. I have lost track of how many times I've done 3-4 gens while the "team" has been busy trading hook time. I ALWAYS run Kindred and Self Care or a medkit. It sucks that it's necessary, but you have to look after yourself first. I also really like Lithe and Urban Evasion or Spine Chill in solo.
Don't misunderstand. I've sacrificed myself many times for a teammate, especially if they've already helped me and even on occasion when they haven't. If you left me on hook to struggle so you could finish the 2nd gen, or heal your buddy, then you can wait for your buddy to unhook you.

It's a survival game for goodness sakes. The game doesn't constitute that any of the other survivors have to help you. Sure they get rewarded when they do it it's not a requirement depending on how the other players want to carry out their match. Also as a survivor , your main objective is...to.... not...get ..caught.
0 -
This is why every time i know the other 3 are SWF I dodge the lobby. ######### that
0 -
I wasn’t hooked first. In fact I saved these guys once or twice before I got hooked myself. But boy was I abandoned right then.
0 -
Ah. So your one of those teammates that everyone hates to have on their team.
0 -
Unfortunately kindred doesn't always help. I just had a game where teammate got grabbed off me while another was behind the wall. Instead of coming to save while the killer went to find a hook he took off to make noise near the exit gate then leave. Don't understand why he didn't save so we could both escape.
0 -
Honestly as someone who swfs a lot, most of us do tend to have no faith in the rando. Most solo players are totally incompetent. Most good survivors have friends bc they like winning and not just running around clueless with other clueless players.
And yes, if we are carrying you the entire game and we let you die to escape, that's kinda how it should go isn't it? If you play genuinely well and you take hits for the team, I will go out for you. If you play like a potato, especially a selfish potato, we'll consider you disposable if not a target if you try to be real selfish.
Why the devs continue to throw noobs at us players with 1000s of hours is beyond me. Playing with babies is frustrating and most swfs dont want to deal with it.
0 -
Yeah I now started using Self Care/Botany because frick teammates. It's less wasted time than getting healed by someone because 2 don't do anything for 16 seconds. That way only I am useless only for around 24 seconds.
0 -
I had a game last night where I lead the killer around the map for several minutes while the rest of my team did the gens, only for my team to leave me on the hook. They didn’t even attempt to come for me. Thanks team.
0 -
So the killer wasn't near your hook nor pushed them off the gens...
I only solo Q and appreciate when they finish their gen first. Most ppl seem to forget you have 1minute for each hookstate. Just make sure your mate doesn't get into the next hook phase. And yeah, run Kindred. A lot. It's still the best perk in solo Q.
0 -
They didn’t come for me or try. I had already saved them before on hook and wasn’t a “potato” teammate. But the minute I got hooked that was it. They just gen rushed and left. I didn’t see the killer around me at all.
