Survivors and Killers- When do you know you've "won"?
I was watching a video earlier that detailed how certain mistakes made on either side could sort of cause a butterfly effect that resulted in a match being won or lost. Since I'm still learning, I wanted to ask the community what these scenarios are like for them, seeing as new players might not realize a mistake might have cost them the game, and I'm really interested in this insight.
So, for either side: when do you know you've won?
Survivors, is it when a killer overcommits to a chase? And killers, is it when you've successfully broken whatever team synergy existed prior?
Obviously this isn't a black and white thing, and certain things that may seem to work in ones favor may ultimately not result in a win, or vice versa. And, of course, there are the obvious ones that almost always result in a very specific result- like a DC or an afk. But I'm genuinely curious to know more about the nuanced situations that you feel really dictate the tides of the games, and maybe even suggestions as to how you feel others should deal with them! I'm especially curious about the situations that may seem less obvious, or ones that you weren't aware could have that much power in a match.

Well obviously games are unpredictable so I never KNOW I've won until I get the 4k. But I usually see the game is going my way when I can clearly see that I've applied enough pressure on the survivors that they are more concerned with being healed, getting woken up, or when survivors stop teaming and start looking for the hatch. having hooked 2 survivors before 2 gens are done or having one dead on hook or even killed is also a good sign.
Also I consider my game a lost if I've killed less than 2 survivors, a tie if I've killed 2 or 3 survivors and I only feel I've won until every survivor is dead.

When the killer lets the middle gen go despite chasing a person near it. Also when they try to chase a person at a super strong loop for a minute+.

When the other side DCs

To me, it's a hook to gen ratio. If we have 4 gens done by the Killer's second- third hook we probably won. It takes a lot of stupidity and mistakes on the survivor side for the killer to reverse it. It happens... But I usually escape in those situations anyways, unless I want to be altruistic.

If I get 0-1 hooks i lost, 2 i tied, 3-4 i won

When I get facecamped after doing nothing besides looping killer. There is no greater achievement fo me in dbd

If I can get 1 hook per gen for the first 2 gens I'm doing Ok and it could go either way. If I get more than that, I'm in good shape. Less? I could be in trouble unless I can get a 3 gen.
Also I don't think I have had a game where the Survivors managed to come back from it if someone tried to body block a hook and I got it anyway.

Easy Peasy.
For killer I know I've won when high ranked survivors stop playing cocky and start playing like I'm actually a scary killer. It's a delightful moment and I savor it like fine wine.
For survivor I never know when I'm going to win (killers always have a chance to make a comeback), but I know for sure when my team is gonna lose. It's that moment where I get chased for a minute or more before going down and then I see the auras of my teammates and not a single one are doing gens. And then my soul shrinks just a little bit more.

When you've had fun, anything else is irrelevant.

As Survivor:
When the Post match screen shows all my hard work at helping my team, completing objectives, and effectively distracting the killer long enough to secure our victory, via the amount of bloodpoints I earned. As long as I earned more than anyone else, I know I was the MVP, and whether I survived or not doesn't matter.
As Killer:
...
When I hear the lamentations of their women!

When I cause depression, I run blindness builds and it usually crushes the spirits of any team.
Blindness OP.

You can always look at the blodpoints at the end of the game.. the one with the highest wins..

Killer - Win
- if survivors go for protection hits (eg when i want to hook somebody) or flashlight saves & stuns constantly. this gives me free pressure. basically if survivors chase me instead of me chasing them. This playstyle only works for them if they have at least 2-3 god loopers and 1-2 persistent gen workers
- when i hook like 3-4 people before the first gen is done, it's most of the time a save 4k
- when the first survivor i down suicides on first hook or DC's
- when i see survivors just memeing around because they gave up (when i'm in a mood i meme with them, we shouldn't take this game so serious)
- indoor maps give me a good feeling because they complement my killers of choice
- i've won many game because of a good 3 gen or survivors ######### up an unhook in endgame, never give up!
Killer - Lose
- when my first chase leads to nothing and then i have to leave and my 2nd chase also goes on forever - then i know i will have a hard time getting some kills
- when i'm getting stubborn and don't want to leave that god survivor who is looping me in a strong loop
- when i have BBQ and see 3 survivors splitted up on 3 different gens, this gives me a bad feeling
- when i lose the important gen in the middle early or if i get a spread apart 3-gen, this is not a certain defeat but it makes things much harder
- maps like Ormond, Rotten Fields, Haddonfield give me a bad feeling straight form the beginning of the match
Survivor - Win
- when a killer is getting lost in a chase and is completely ignoring me on a gen, generally if he is chasing someone for a long time while the others are doing gens
- sounds strange, but when survivors leave me on hook for a while (sometimes even letting me go into 2nd stage) to churn out gens splitted up across the map, that's usually a good sign for a solo team
- if some important hex totems are getting cleansed in the first minute of the match
Survivor - Lose
- when survivors go down VERY fast
- when i'm on hook and all 3 survivors run towards me even though i have Kindred
- when the Killer is getting down after down and no gen pops
- when the Killer is Freddy, i just can't win against him

Good BP and a safety or pip for Survivor, but if it was a fun match, I'll take that instead. Had some great ones tonight where I was thoroughly enjoying chases and actual gameplay rather than M1 simulator.
Killer. Just give me some good BP and fun chases. Try to outthink me instead of running in a circle, and I'll be quite happy. Mindless tedium of looping bores me though, so I usually just walk away from those chases and find something more interesting. Pretty much fun games = win.

When the killer gets one person out of the game at 3 or more gens.

Survivor, when I had fun that match even if I die on hook, if there were funny moments, or good plays on either side
Killer, well, good luck having fun as one without sweating like a mf with meta perks and addons, I mostly play addonless killers with fun gimmicky builds, only to get stomped on by meta ,then being called 'gg ez' in aftergame chat

I base killer wins on hooks as I think that’s the most important thing
