How to play the clown?

Serious question, at the moment I cant see how his power is of any usage?
The range and throwing speed is way too bad in order to use it when the survivor is just running away from you
When the survivor is looping you aroudn a pallet/vault, then you can hit your power if timing if correctly, but it doesnt do anything to stop him from looping? Ive played survivor and the "blindness" effect doesnt really affect you tbh, you can still identify killers position. The slow is not really noticeable?

Edit: I like the recharging mechanic though

The slow is very noticeable, idd say its the prime feature of the Clown.
Its more apparent with the addons ofc, but I believe it's the point, we should play killers with addons.

To add to the statement above, you don't want to aim directly at the Survivor, you have to be smarter than that. Strategically throw the bottles in spots the Survivor wants to loop, like right before and after a pallet or a window vault. You want to slow them as much as possible to get close to hit them. Like, if you seem them running for a pallet, lob that ######### ahead of them to make them think twice about using that loop. More often than not they'll take their chances through the gas and it might buy just enough time to get close to them to hit them before they can throw the pallet down.

The main uses for it so far are :

    • Use it directly on a pallet to make it harder to see, eventually try to sneak a it or force a hasty pallet down.
    • Use it around vision breaking objects, to make your movements harder to read. The double vault jungle gyms for example.
    • Around some objects to punish the survivor if he wants to step back, making the mindgames a bit more advantageous for you.
    • In looping spots, to slow the survivor a bit to force him to drop the pallet and not to loop.

It's nothing much but it's not "THAT" bad.

-The bottles can be used in locateing the survivors, finding survivors when they are besides gens, hooks where one is hooked,a loop or gate,i think that how survivors think and how good overall is the player changes the tier hes in,besides that in a inclosed part of the map with big walls bottles can be used as a land mine, placeing it at a bottleneck place and going the other path to locate the runner/looper.

Yes locating Survivor is a good strategy. If a Survivor enters the cloud he will give you a noise notification.

Leave one on a Gen after kicking it, or on a hooked survivor. Or up the stairs of the basement.

Before engaging a chase, if you can, throw on in a pathway and try to go in a direction that will force the survivor to go in.

Always try to aim at where a Survivor will go instead of throwing it directly at him, Survivor will often outrun your throw.

Do not engage a chase with no bottles.

If you really want to aim at a Survivor, try to do a full charge throw, watch the glow of the bottle when you charge, this indicates the max distance/speed has been reached. This throw will be more difficult to dodge and has been chance of hitting the Survivor.

Recharge after you downed a Survivor, this will save you a bit of time, especially if you have Pop Goes the Weasel equipped.

    Hope that help!

Save them for windows. They force slow vaults and that is basically the only useful thing about this Killer.

Use bottle of bleach + an addon that increase the time they're under the slow effect. Watch the complaints filter in. The slow will be really noticeable in that case.

Bottle of Bleach is only 5% extra slow tho (on top of the 15% basis)
It's decent, but probably not his greatest add-on.

the % seems low but it is a huge game changer.
Changing Movement Speed slightly in the game has way more consequence that it seems.

The solvent jug is way underrated. That 30 seconds of Exhaustion cancels out that Balanced Landing, Lithe, Dead hard, and even sprint burst if you catch them before they can start sprinting. So I run that and the cork as often as I can. Cause that reload of 4 swishes instead of 8 is Big

Your supposed to play clown by using his power (bottles) to divert and focus survivors to where you want them. Cutting off loops and blocking pallets with gas is the most effective use his power as opposed to directly hitting them. Sadly with the nerf survivors can now fast vaults windows while effected by the gas, but the slow down is still large enough to get a guaranteed hit in most cases. He is fast (same as normal killer) even though he look super thicc =D. This helps him guarantee those hits and makes chases very dangerous for survivors. There is also a notification when the survivors enters the gas radius, if they do not have calm spirit, which is useful for flushing out those survivors stealthing around the generators.

Pop is sadly almost unusable for the clown. the time restriction, and a lack of any kind of movement speed buff means that he cant make it back to a gen that's being worked on in time. (most good survivors run far away from any gen work during a chase) It could use a handul more seconds added to the timer, or just " the next generator you damage"

Right now Pop seems to work best on people that can zip around the map quickly.

I am not a pro clown, but the bottles do well for me.
You can shorten loops or force early pallet drops.
You can reroute the survivor by throwing bottles to where they want to go and most of all I can use the bottles to slow them down before they reach the next looping spot with a simple direct throw.
It's not rocket science to use the clown good.
Of course I have a lot of room to improve as clown, but the basics are easy.

That post is already very old.

By now I have given up on clown, pretty much like any other killer considering that I dont see clown AT ALL anymore.

Good survivors know when to ignore the gas effect and still make ti to the pallet or when its time to switch the loop. And the fact that he has no map control..... well
