Kill Switch update: We have temporarily disabled The Legion due to an issue that allows for infinite power spam. The Legion will be re-enabled once this issue is fixed.

So over other more important things, BHVR is working on... a chat filter?

Is this even necessary? I get it, lots of people say pretty outlandish things, but out of other better things to work on BHVR chooses to implement a system that will protect people's feelings. Again, there is nothing wrong with the chat filter. But why don't they instead focus their resources on things that are far more important, like the desync problem, bug fixes, or tweaking killer powers and addons?

Besides, it is not going to help all that much with toxicity. We can already turn off the chat, I don't think a chat filter is necessary.

This is more likely than not something they've been working on the past while, while contributing to other things.

Maybe it means console will get end game chat? I want to say gg wp to everyone, not just streamers :(

  • I hope the word "cancer" is included in the filter, that seems to be the number 1 comment among the dbd community. I'd prefer it if they took the overwatch approach and automatically translated some of the comments so "gg ez" becomes "mommy says its time for me to go to bed"

In an interview from 7 months ago Cote said they hired an outside company that specializes in chat filters so atleast they weren't taking devs focus away from the game. Chat gets tons of complaints so makes sense they are adding a filter.

Reports do jack #########, none of the ones I've submitted have been acted upon, even direct a direct ticket to support has done ######### all in one particularly extreme case.

And I'm not riled up I'm just pointing out the issues with what your saying

Just put in stock phrases and be done with it. Something like in Hearthstone.

No, BHVR is composed of one person called John Behaviour and that's it.

Considering the current state of the game and their actions lately, it is "questionable" how things will turn out. I know they can work on multiple things at once, but it would be better to actually focus on fixing the more prominent issues.

Well we all wanted this feature since dbd first came out. Way more important than colorblind mode. Right? Lol. Where they get the ideas for all those things is what I don't get. They ask for feedback from ptb, surveys etc. and they turn around and do the opposite. Just to piss people off? Or just to say that they communicate with the community?

I actually quite like the idea, although am a bit skeptical on how much will be censored. I also hope that the chat does not somehow gain any bugs... somehow.

Chat filther: No one shall ever swear again!

Fu ck/ Sh it/ Di ck:

    Allow us to introduce ourselves

joking aside, as if a chat filther will actually tone down the toxicity, AH!, what a joke... if someone can't stand that situation, hiding the chat or directly leave at the end is a faster solution.

I'm really glad they're prioritizing this. They shouldn't be providing an environment where it's normal for people to be verbally abused and have slurs directed at them, so any steps they take to correct that are good.

It makes me sad how anyone thinks a chat filter is unnecessary.

And I really don’t have the energy to explain why it’s important.

Honestly, it's good that they have such easy projects they can reset their minds on. Banging your head against the brick wall that is... I would call out DbD, but honestly this just applies to every difficult problem. It sucks and it numbs your mind and you genuinely need to take a break and do something else. As anyone can tell you, it increases productivity by refreshing your headstate.

So why not work on a chat filter or colourblind mode?

As to the intended purpose, my guess is that less people will need reporting because they'll literally be unable to say those things.
