Does BHVR take disciplinary action against abusive in game chat?

I can't be the only one who feels as though the report button is for show and doesn't actually do anything.

Then again if action is taken when we report issues we have no way in knowing, so my question is, does anyone actually know of someone who was banend for breaking the rules? I'm not talking about hackers or legacy hack, because it does seem apparent BHVR cares more about people hacking in legacy than they do about verbal abuse in the post chat.

Not gonna lie man they either don't or take forever to do it.

I reported a hacker 3 days ago and they haven't even responded to my thing yet

Yet if that person hacked in Legacy they'd be perma banned faster than the speed of light.

Immaterial things are more important to them it would seem.

  • I have a feeling, based on very little evidence, that they do if it's excessive. I.e a one off "kay-why-ess" wouldn't do anything, but repeated reports of telling people to die does in fact result in a ban.

@Avarice10 I'm glad to be honest. If they're open to hacking for legacy they're open to hacking anything. There's a big correlation between those who hack legacy cosmetics and those who use any other kind of hack or cheat.

Ditto. Exactly 3 days ago as well for me. Funnily enough I reported a hacker before that not too long ago and they responded 11 minutes after the support ticket report at midnight. Literally midnight.

I'd assume it's EAC doing that.

I remember I reported a player sending death threats, received notice that 'they were looking into it' a week later, and nothing came of it. Since then, I've believed it's a waste of time. They claim one thing, but don't actually do anything.

Smite, the MOBA? They implemented a system that tells you when action has been taken against a reported player. Always liked that. Would be nice if other games took that.

They do, but pretty sure you have no way of knowing unless they get permabanned. At least on Steam that's the only thing that puts a "Game Ban" on their profile, the temporary bans leading up to an eventual perma don't do that. And the only speech-related offense that is an immediate permaban is "serious threats". And yes, I kept track of profiles I reported because I wanted to see if something happened too, and I did see some results.

I'd really like a "Thanks for your report, action has been taken" sorta message. I feel it would make a lot of people trust the report system more, especially for stuff that isn't instant perma like cheating, threats and that kinda thing.

Possibly you lost game and you reported for that. Cry reasons are not bannable lol

Cheating, insulting, trolling... Report for that reasons

If game rules are broken, including abuse in end-game chat, action will be taken. It's not all insults or personal attacks - a simple "######### you" wouldn't get anyone in trouble really, but if it's a slur or much heavier insults, threats, etc., action is taken.

Please consider there are many daily reports and some actions you won't be able to see, as not everything results in a permanent ban as you can see here: https://forum.deadbydaylight.com/en/kb/articles/139-game-rules https://forum.deadbydaylight.com/en/kb/articles/141-game-ban-escalation The ACMs is a dedicated team and doing their best.
