In-game Mic Chat in DBD IDEA
I’ve been pondering this idea for a while. Mic chat between killers and survivors (not survivors with other survivors). I think this could be fun if implemented correctly and can lead to a more social gaming experience and lower the frustration of playing killer and increase the fun and immersion of survivor.
I realize there are several things that need to be taken into consideration for this work.
My idea is to utilize localized (proximity) game chat. So the killer’s mic can only be heard in his terror radius at a reduced volume of 50%, of which increases to normal volume as the survivor gets closer inside the killer’s TR. The killer’s mic would sound mono so direction can not be determined. For survivors talking to the killer there would be no change in volume and again mono so direction can not be analyzed by the killer.
For stealth killers or killers with the undetectable status effect, I would recommend mic chat work at 4 meters while undetectable. That way the sastifaction of jump-scaring a survivor could remain without ruining stealth hits and grabs.
Also I think mic chat from a survivor should be muted when downed, picked up, or on the hook.
TL;DR add proximity chat to dbd between killers and survivors.

I'm sorry but... Hell no. You know the reasons yourself I'm sure.

Let me tell you to replicate it: Go look up a video where someone is berating you and threatening extreme harm and you and your family, then play it whenever you think you're close to the killer/survivor.
You now have an in-game mic.
Edit: And make sure the video is full of racism, sexism, homophobia, transphobia, general religious xenophobia, and for good measure a few threats of non-consensual intercourse.

I admire your idealism, and in a perfect world, this would be a lot of fun.
If only it were that easy.

That's great! Now killers and survivors can complain each other to death.

Yeah considering how much everyone hate each other that would be swell.

I love the idea of a survivor being able to scream at me for tunneling anytime I start a chase. Maybe after I hook someone and I'm trying to listen to the sound of grass rustling from their teammates being sneaky right next to me, the guy on hook will bless me with the sound of them screaming about my family. Sounds like a GREAT idea that will definitely work good more times than not.

Glad you didn’t read my post. Thanks for stopping bye.

Wow. Didn’t realize Dbd players were this soft. Seriously grow a pair.

That’s...the point. Any guess why people hate each other on this game, here’s a hint, DEHUMINIZATION.

If that’s the only online/competitive experience you’ve ever had I feel bad for you.

That’s vague, and ominous! Care to be more specific?

Not everyone shares your baggage and deep-rooted social trauma, FYI.

No, I really don’t. I come from COD where people have laughs and trash talk. So please, care to offer a legitimate argument against this? A lack of mic chat is archaic at best for modern gaming.

So you think it's perfectly fine that that is how the significant majority of interactions will go?
0 -
Never mind, you are just one of those people that would abuse it.

You don’t know that. I have no idea why you are so paranoid. Besides the fact there’s a feature called “muting.” Just because you don’t want to participate that shouldn’t silence the rest of the community.

Have you ever played a game with voice chat? People are still vile and toxic it doesn't matter if it is text or voice. There is no difference. I don't buy an argument that the game is toxic because there is no voice chat since I had different experience.

So your subjective opinion is the final say because you said it?.. Ok.

I suggest checking other opinions too since no one agreed with your post I think lol. And check youtube for toxic voice chat experiences. Plenty of them to see. Heck check every corner of the internet and you will see how many people encounter toxic people in voice chat. It is not really subjective if you played enough of games with it. People say most disgusting things.
If you think horrible people will magically become flower sniffing hippies just because of voice chat you are very wrong. They will do exactly the same.
