What's the point of prestiging your character?
I don't see the point of prestiging and getting a p3 survivor and the reward you get for doing it has to big of a cost. The game is already such a grind so why would anyone l want to start over and do it again? I would have to get all the perks I worked so hard to have back again. Also I have event items and offering so if i prestige I lose them forever and I have to wait until the next event which could be a different item. And your reward for sacrifice all of that? Just blooded clothing.
So if the grind makes it too much of a chore to do and the reward you get don't justify the sacrifice you made and the hard work you did ,whats the point of prestiging your character?
Also while we're at it whats the point of the player level other then to give shards? And deviotion level? Do they actually do or contribute to things?
How many more pointless things are in the game?

There's only a few things that I can thing of that may make it worth it to prestige a character:
- Bloody clothing. This is mainly for bragging rights or combining pieces of bloody clothing with other pieces for customization.
- More likely to get rarer things in the bloodweb. This helps and harms you, however. It helps you by increasing the chance of getting bloody party streamers which are one of the most consistent offerings to get you more bloodpoints, but you end up spending slightly more bloodpoints each time you want to reach the next prestige level because of this increased chance of earning rarer items.
- Nothing better to spend your bloodpoints on. This reason is purely for those who are in it for the grind aspect.
That's about all that I can think of.

It's an endgame mechanic/reward.
You're not supposed to do it as soon as possible.
If you really want one for a certain character (pre-endgame), then you would need to work for it.
Simple as that.

A free nice looking cosmetic. There isn't really any more than that.. the chances of increased rarity items its imperceptible but for example if you want, lets say all the perks in your character you will lose a lot of BP by not doing the prestige. That the way i think of it.
Therefore i personally prefer to prestige right away because what its best? a p3 character with all the perks, or a lvl 50 with all the perks? But of course it really depends on the time you have for spending it in the game.

I guess I understand.
to me it just seems like sacrificing all your perks, items, addons, and offerings to start over for a piece of a cosmetic doesn't seem worth it. But to each his own. ( I think that's how the expression goes)

Don't think there is one for survivor since item usage is so freaking optional. For killer though some killers you just need to prestige to make them more consistent.
Wraith for example is entirely add on dependent. He needs add ons to do well and his add ons are all at the correct rarities, his worst ones are the cheapest, his best ones are the most expensive. If I prestige wraith 3 times then it means I get a 30% more likely chance for greens, 20% for purples, and 10% for reds. It's worth it cause I can more consistently run with his best add ons instead of low tier stuff.
This doesn't apply to all killers cause some killers best add ons are yellows or even browns. Mews guts for demogorgon or yellow bag for trapper, and even brown bag for trapper. Bootstraps for the pig. It goes on and on.

I didn’t think it was necessary for killers to prestige. Ok then

-flexing
-free cosmetic (up to 3)
-very marginally increased chance of rarer items in bloodwebs
-gives you something to artificially extend the grind and keep you playing
Seriously with the grind for prestige I'd have quit this game a while ago

It's a lot less 30%, 20%, 10% and a lot more 0.3%, 0.3%, 0.1%

Lol I'll trust the wiki

That's fair, I'm just going with experience here haha

I think that's cause of number dissociation. At p3 you get a 10% higher chance of getting an ebony in your tree. At level 50 you're garunteed (I think) 2 ebonies per bloodweb. This means every 10 bloodwebs you'll on average have a shot at 21 ebonies. This makes almost no difference. However it does add up over time and is much more noticeable with the greens and the purples who have a higher chance of spawning. Though math is bullshit and so is the rewards in general for getting characters p3. It honestly only helps super add on dependent killers like bellboi wraith.

I like having a bloody head on my survivors/killers to show how awesome they look.
Oh and flexing

Thats the point of prestiging dude... its not a necessity. Its just for showing off. If you are willing to do the extra work then go for it, if you dont want to then dont do it. Dont really see why you make such a drama out of that.
1 -
I wasn't trying to make a drama out of It I was just asking a question and sharing my opinion on it
If you want to grind out and prestige then that's your choice but personally I think its pointless and doesn't have any real use for anything.

Aight sry didnt wanted to put any words in your mouth.
Well you know I am for example someone whos obsessed with "having everything". So thats why I prestiged every Killer on 3 to max level. I barely use the skins, its just the satisfaction to know that I got them and that made me happy.

I have so much fun doing it. Since the bloodweb is random, it's so fun leveling up and experimenting with whatever perks you're earning. Plus, once I P3 a character, I have ease of mind knowing I won't lose any event items if I decide to prestige them later.

So would you call yourself a compleationist?
0 -
Well I dont know honestly, I had over 4k hours in Dbd but I have like 60% of the achievments, I dont care about them and never really do them.

There is always the possibility that the devs will add further prestige rewards.
i think they actually mentioned this in the 4th anniversary stream. But like Early Game mechanic and (greater) daily ritual rework this wasn’t mentioned again..

I’ve got every survivor to P3 and I did it as I wanted the bloody faces for everybody. I’ve only P3’d a few killers though, because I don’t see the point of doing it for the killers I’ll never play.

I don't prestige, as you only get a bloody cosmetic for that character, and if I play a killer or survivor enough I tend to just buy better skins with shards if I have enough, if you want to show off what killer or survivor you main then P3 them. I would only prestige one just to get the achievement, as its mostly pointless.

The point of prestiging is pretty much just for the... prestige.
I'm getting a bit tired of being the pedantic guy on these forums but it's almost like the word means what it means.

Spooky clothes.
It reminds me of the movie “cube 2: hyper cube” where the characters are stuck in a multidimensional death trap where many copies of themselves exist in parallel.
One of them goes crazy and starts killing and eating the others and collecting trophies from all the copies.
That’s killer prestige. Soaked in blood from all the survivors you murdered.

My reasoning is that any points spent past 50 without prestiging are wasted. You're not getting any closer to the potential cap, and if you end up unlocking all the perks for that character then when you do prestige you're going to have to do it all over again.
It takes about 1.6m to get 1-50, and then about 3-4m to get all perks after 50. So, in total you spend 6.4m to hit P3-50, or ~10m in total for all perks too. To hit 50 and unlock all perks, it's roughly ~6m BPs, which is about the same as it is to hit P3-50. It seems better to just hit P3-50 asap, so you can then slowly unlock the perks, knowing you will never have to prestige again.

The Prestige of it.
😅

Personally I prestige characters that have little to no cosmetics at all (Freddy, Quentin, Myers, Laurie etc.). I'm gonna say though some killers with prestige clothing barley look any different to their regular outfit. :/

completionist, if I ever wanted to do it later I probably would have invested way too much time and bp into the survivor to get perks I want, only for them to be reset.
Better to get that out of the way asap

Maybe someday devs do news legacys chico jajaja I don't know for me do prestige is some extra object to do in the game I don't know what I'll do when I prestige all my characters

Honestly I like the P3 symbol more than I like the skins (most of the time, Cheryl's P3 is where it's at imo). It feels me with joy seeing that symbol and knowing I put my time into to doing something very few people have done (according to steam achievements a P3 50 is somewhat rare, which is hard to believe considering how often I see it, even then I like being a completionist so it helps me feel special lol)

Well I prestige because I play 3 killers: Ghostface, Nightmare, Demogorgon. so I rotate. If my Freddy is at lvl 50 I prestige him and continue with Ghostface or demo and spend points on Freddy until he's lvl 15 then I prestige another killer and so on so on. This keeps the game interesting and forces me to use more than 1 killer
also, bragging rights for my p3 lvl 50 killers.

I do it because I think they'll add future rewards
