How to play against Freddy

Just a quick few tips that actually do help when playing against him. He is definitely not OP by any means and although he can feel overwhelming, you can play around his strong power.

Drop pallets early if you are in the dream world or about to fall asleep:

Doing this will rob him of the use you will get out of his snares (which are far stronger than his fake pallets). His snares are the reason he is strong in a chase, and if he has no snares or dream pallets then he is pretty much on Wraith's level of chasing power. The only thing he has would be his dream projection that he can use in a chase, but only if the survivor doesn't notice you channeling it.

If you are asleep leave tiles early:

If you are asleep and he is chasing you towards a tile with a pallet, just drop it early and leave to avoid getting hit. Or, if you are greedy or have a medkit with charges, the better option would be to take a hit and heal up later while still leaving the tile so you waste more of his time. Of course, this is assuming the tile has a safe pallet, if it is a weak one you are kind of screwed (just like you would be with any other killer).

If you are a good looper working on a generator ""ALONE"", then purposefully fail skill checks about every 30 seconds if you can:

This will make sure that you are always awake and unaffected by Freddy's snares during chases and just in general will keep him from harming you.

What do I do if he starts his dream projection on the gen I am on?

You have to predict if he will teleport to you or not. Is he chasing another survivor? Then he is just faking it. Did he see you with a perk such as thrilling or BBQ? He is coming, so run. You have to look around if you can and keep an eye on what he is up to. Besides, if he scares you off then you won't lose much progress.

When should I wake up myself with an alarm clock?

Whenever it is convenient for you to do so. If you happen to have run to it while doing objectives, then go ahead and wake yourself up. If Freddy is using the red paintbrush addon, then use these whenever you can because it is much harder to wake up if you don't.

When should I wake up my teammates?

Whenever you can honestly, it does slow down the more you do it, but it still protects that person from falling asleep for a full minute. It robs Freddy of some power especially if everyone stays awake.

"FreDDy iS Op!"
