Red stain
Survivors will probably disagree for obvious reasons but I think the red stain needs to be removed. It should be more of a guessing game when mindgaming certain tiles. I shouldn't have to walk backwards so the survivor doesn't know which direction I'm looking. I just don't understand why it's a thing. I know people will say get good, learn to moonwalk, etc... I know how to do it. It's just dumb imo. Good killers hide their stain so it wouldnt really change much as far as high level players go. I don't wanna fight over it, but kinda curious how other people feel. Feel free to disagree but don't be toxic to each other.

Play Ghostface.

It should be every killer.

You seem to forget killers also actively show the red stain around corners to make survivors vault into them.
Hiding and showing the red stain both actively affect the (re-)actions of survivors so straight up removing it would be a nerf for killers in my book.
21 -
Yeah I understand it works both ways but every time I have to walk backwards to get a hit I find myself thinking how ridiculous it is. You're right, it could end up being a nerf. I would be curious to see how it played out though.

Run Beast of Prey.

🤣🤣🤣
No

I’ve thought the red stain was out dated for a while now. Wish they could get a weekend without it.
7 -
So you want to blanket nerf killer?
2 -
That would literally remove mind games. The main reason people dislike Spirit is her main "mind game" is standing still. Meaning the survivor has no info to go off. The red stain is perfect for that reason. It gives survivors something to play off of. It also gives killers something to feed disinformation with.
10 -
I very much agree. I wouldn't mind seeing my own stain at least, though it's fine either way.
0 -
No. Red stain encourages skillful gameplay on the killer side and can actually benefit you at certain tiles. What you're suggesting would mess with gameplay wayyyyy too much. This would actually harm killer.
0 -
It's literally a beacon to survivors. There's no mindgame even at weak loops because it exists. We only have Tinkerer and Dark Devotion as a band-aid fix.
2 -
I think this would be a bad idea personally. I use the red stain to mindgame so much that it would be a nerf to me playing tbh. At weak loops the red stain plays only a small amount of importance unless line of sight is blocked, which isn't that often at the weaker loops but around jungle gyms the ability to mindgame with the red stain is incredibly useful.

^ this so much. Using the Red Stain to manipulate the Survivors Movement is a good aspect of Killer gameplay.
IMO there should either be a Perk OR an option to enable the Red Stain for Killers in the Menus. This would also help newer Killer players to learn what the Survivor is seeing. Sometimes you see mindgames, but they are not good enough, because the Killer cannot really see what the Survivor is seeing so they make mistakes, which result in a failed mindgame.
Giving the visibility of the Red Stain as an option would be nice for newer Killers to learn. Experienced Killers will most likely disable it.

Then every survivor would just play safe, then chasing them would be way more annoying than it already is for killers.

The Red Stain is a tool that you can use or hide as a killer to lead survivors into a false sense of security. Removing it would compromise one of the most important expressions of skill from a chase. I am fine failing a decision bc the killer outplayed me and don't want chases to become a biased game of chance.
If you don't like the Red Stain, there are perks that provide the undetectable status for every killer or addons/powers that benefit specific ones.

That would be nerfing killers as they won't be able to mindgame anymore, Red Stain was designed to show where the killer is looking so people learned how to hide the killer stain or use the stain against survivors
2 -
It could be a cool perk idea (to either remove it under certain conditions temporarily or not have it all game). That could be a really cool idea.
But it should stay in general. I could see a lot of people get much more frustrated and complain that killers shouldn't see them. Just not worth it honestly

I do. But they can still hear you, and I know that because as a survivor I can hear a Pyramid Head or Doctor or Hillbilly at a jungle gym or other loop, and know exactly where they are without the red stain. So the red stain is the icing on top. If survivors didn't have enough indication of where you are, the red stain comes into play.
1 -
I don't like that idea. Currently Beast of Prey, Trail of Torment, Tinkerer, and Dark devotion grant undetectable can remove the red stain. If Beast of Prey, for example, removed the red stain completely and didn't reduce the Terror Radius, I could see new killers being dependent on it.

As a killer main a lot of survivors rely too much on red stains which can be exploited
1 -
Learn to hide your red stain. I play both sides fairly evenly but have a little bit of a harder time ranking up as survivor. However, I don't think removing the red stain is going to do as much as you think.

I agree, it's silly. I'm sure years ago when the game was a mess, it made since. I don't see it as a necessity.

It’d be good as a weekend test like they did with bloodlust

I see Doctor as your profile picture. His madness causes illusionary red stains and TR. It can really freak people out to drop safe pallets because they think you are literally on top of them. I think red stain benefits both killers and survivors. It allows survivors to make plays, but allows for mindgames
1 -
You're right, I'm a survivor and I don't agree with that. Not because it makes it easier. I am actually crap at chases and always, always lose the mind games killers play. The typical: I think I know you're trying to trick me so I'll do this instead but they one up me and I've been hit.
It's part of the game and I find it more challenging than not seeing the red stain.

So you’d rather the game just be full of guessing and not using your senses? Would make chases have no skill.
0 -
You just described killer gameplay.
0 -
You’re playing killer wrong then
0 -
This right here.
Don't nerf my discipline add-on
2 -
If you're playing this game without headphones I don't know what you're doing. And I most killers don't do what?
0 -
From a gameplay perspective it makes sense given its another machanic that can be leveraged for advantage during mindgames etc.
A lot of the mechanics are kinda rediculous from a thematic perspective when you look at them. I think the game would be scarier without the red stain but it has a use albeit a silly one from a horror standpoint.
0 -
Oh here we go another take this out of the game because I don't like it post. "I know how to moonwalk I just don't want to because it's annoying" K? Get over it.
0 -
it's not the red stain that need to be removed but the bloodlust need to be gone ;) .atm without red stain = unplayable at all

I just find it ridiculous at times to have to do all the extra stuff to get hits. Maybe dbd is just getting boring to me. Don't get me wrong, it's satisfying tricking survivors to walk right into you. I was just thinking if the stain wasnt there and it was more of a guessing game it might be more exciting. Then again, maybe not. After looking at the responses I can see why it'd be a nerf to killers more than anything. It was just random thought. No need to be hostile. That's what's wrong with the community. Instead of listening to each other and discussing like adults you just wanna say get over it.
