Matchmaking is Terrible
So I hit rank 15 with my killer and suddenly every survivor is red or purple ranks. I went from frequent 4ks to struggling to even get 1. Every match I just get gen rushed. When I happen to find somebody, they're untouchable. When I finally manage to hit somebody, they loop and loop and then get healed immediately. It's just getting to the point where it's not even fun, every match is like 2 min long and everyone escapes. Every. Single. Match.

Game is grasping for Killers to play against Survivors.

They should really make a preference setting or something. Do you want similarly ranked opponents/teammates or do you want short que times? Because apparently the game can't do both.

Are there really more survivors than killers? I would've thought way more people wanted to play as killer

That would be nice. Idk if it's worth mentioning but I'm on xbox with crossplay on, most matches are against pc players. Without it, I'd never find a match to begin with lmao

The game is killer sided kiiiinda... if you play perfectly as a good killer you just win.
But if you don't you just get utterly blown out. Killers basically have no room to relax, make a mistake, or play 'nice' in a high end game, which results in massive killer burnout. The devs don't care about playability at ALL. Its purely balance, but the fact of the matter is I think most killers would gladly accept a lower winrate if it meant more time to relax.
The undying nerf is a good example of this. Yes, it was 'too good.' Like it objectively was one of the strongest perks in the game. It also solved a MASSIVE GOD DAMN PROBLEM WITH KILLERS in that it actually gave them time to breath in a match.
Right now the killer Q time is about 6 seconds, while survivors at high ranks are 30 minutes. This means that for every survivor lobby that finds a match, 300 killers find a match. As there are 4 survivors to a lobby, this means that we are looking at around...
1200 god damn survivors for every killer, at least at the top end. Its ridiculous. This is why the new survey focused on subdividing player types and then asking about motivations and why people take breaks and stuff. Its REALLY clear if DBD can't retain killers it is not going to survive, the current lunar callender event didn't come with a player bump which is really troubling (And is almost certainly why the event was extended, DBD depends heavily on surges of players around content cycles before them slowing down and this has NOT been happening for their last few major events or updates, which is terrifying for a single game outfit like BHVR).
It doesn't help that the DBD community is, frankly, one of the worst in all of gaming because BHVR basically markets their game as a bully sim at this point because the survivors are more monetizable (They are the more social side, they can see their own characters, and they are the more numerous side). They triedti to replicate that with Deathgarden, but without an installed userbase the game's bottom fell out: A lot of people are attached to DBD because good matches as killer are fun, but no one was attached to Deathgarden, AKA "How can we make flashlights even more infuriang?"
So BHVR sorta... doesn't WANT to fix the 'The game is miserable for killer' problem for economic reasons, but they need to maintain the bare minimum quality of life for the game. This is why nonsense like endgame collapse, a very round about surrender system with lots of limitations that was WAY HARDER TO IMPLEMENT THAN SIMPLY A 'I GIVE UP BUTTON' exists: Killers were quitting because they had no way to end the game if the survivors didn't want to leave without basically winning half a chase 4 times and the survivors each running out, but survivors like teabagging at the exit gates a little bit. Despite this having a very huge negative impact on the player experience for killers, the very minor benefit the experience had on toxic survivors meant they moved heaven and earth to keep that in the game, which really tells you a LOT about their priorities. Stuff like Blight being broken basically since his release with the need for pretty simple fixes, but the second survivors experience de-reg issues that gets patched right away.

The game is so survivor sided, most killer mains switched to survivor.
That's why new killers get matched against red ranks. Simply not enough killers around.

I just played today on steam (where I'm rank 19 as killer), just to get some points to spend on my Cheryl. There I only have 1 killer above level 1 and 4 perk slots unlocked that is Bubba and I'm not used to the controls on pc, because I usually play killer on ps4 (where I'm rank 13).
So I chose Bubba, brought the brown add ons that I had and expected a game of Claudettes hiding and stuff, but I was surprised that I was going against purple and red ranks (yes, at rank 19) that seemed to know how to play every loop? When I finally found someone I could chase without wasting 3 minutes, I was already at 2 gens left.... so gg, I guess.
I played 3 matches like that in a row and gave up on playing killer on pc (at least for now). I'm also not doing the killer dailies I have there... there's simply no chance that I can hit 5 fully charged shreds with Demo without add ons and only a perk against this, and I won't even get points for the match anyway. I'm sorry for those who are starting now and have to face this.
I'm gonna stick to killer on my console. The opponents are exactly the same, but at least there I have killers I know how to play, perks and add ons to work with and I'm used to the controls. The matchmaking is just atrocious.

I am tired of brown ranks who play like the best red rank players and red ranks that potato hard.
