To Save Or Not To Save

Playing solo Q, and a survivor tries to Kobe right before I arrive at the hook. This has become more of a trend lately, not a one time deal. I’m thinking of just starting to leave these people on hook and go back to what I was doing instead of unhooking them.

Everyone can say stuff like clicky clicky, or T-bagging is toxic, but it isn’t. This type of behavior is what’s toxic. Survivors who ruin their team’s chances.

What do you other solo queue’rs think? Should I just let them find their own way off hook?

Well if it doesn't send them into struggle your just being an #########.

If you're right there and they want to try to kobe and they don't go into tier two they did nothing wrong but try and attempt a fun way of escaping a hook without the repercussions.

Like seriously. Plus people have done this for a long time, it's not become a trend recently

No, they did everything wrong. If they want to do that, do it some other time than after you waste another player’s time. Do it before. When you do it right as they arrive at the hook it’s a jerk move.

While I agree it is a horrible thing to do, just don't think about it and take the altruism. It will benefit you. Even if they kobe just heal them for points too.

Unless... you already did good and think you piped. You can do whatever you like then.

So far, that’s what I have been doing. Mostly because I don’t want the whole team getting screwed. But it’s becoming more and more common a behavior instead of less. I also want the altruism points like you said, but I don’t know how many more of these clowns I want to help.

How could you take something so seriously? Kobe, funny #########, no kobe, laugh at their failure and unhook.

If it was rude or toxic to attempt escape it wouldn't be a mechanic...

I unhook them, and then heal them.

just because someone does something stupid doesn't mean I'm not getting my points

This was actually a bit of a debated topic a while back if memory serves. I find it mildly annoying if I'm running any kind of unhook perks but I'll still rescue them, unless they've done nothing all game or annoyed me a lot in some other way. In which case I am petty enough to leave you to die.

You know very well that what they are doing wastes the rest of the team’s time. You probably do this to your team mates huh?

Clicky clicky is pretty toxic in my opinion as these guys give no damn about the fact the killer player could suffer from epilepsy.

As for the topic I don't think much of people trying to kobe but I've seen a couple people hit struggle because they forgot they were hanging for a while before I got there.

These guys make me chuckle I admit.

I ######### hate it because I usually run We'll Make It, and if the guy actually does kobe in front of me that means I'm not getting the extra healing speed from my perk.

I won't throw a tantrum bc of it, and unhook/heal them anyways (unless we're premade bc I have TOLD my friends multiple times not to do that to me and they know that if they insist and /do/ kobe they are not getting any heals), but I wish people in general didn't do it.

I 100% leave them on the hook, and I'm usually in a 3 man swf, we leave anyone that does this ######### to rot on the hook and make sure the rest of us know not to get them. It's extremely rude, they don't do it for laughs, they do it to jack your points. The only way to teach them is to punish them for it.

If i'm already there, not unhooking at that point means no BP for me & me making it harder on myself than they just did.

Even if they go to the Killer just to die after i unhook them, that's more useful time they give me than them suiciding in phase 2.

Whats more toxic is Survivors who unsafe unhook without Borrowed Time when the Killer is clearly face camping

How does it waste anyones time?

Do you has brain? Attempting escape doesn't stop anyone doing anything, you realise you can unhook the person before they even complete the escape?

And I don't do this but having a problem with kobe attempts (when they won't have a consequence particularly) is just outright stupid

It's not a mistake if I did it on purpose (big brain)

This is a very specific scenario I’m describing. Where they wait for you to come to them, and then they try to Kobe. Not talking about them doing it other times. It’s toxic.

how small are people's ego's that they cry and scream if someone attempts an escape at no detriment to the team. People need to grow up.

If you dont save the person on the hook you have ruined the game for all 4 survivors in the match just because you feel the need to be petty.

  • JediWithASniper

Nope. When you choose to try to Kobe after waiting for them to cross the map, and pull off their gen to save you, and then you either unhook, or cost the team a hook stage, you deserve to be left.

The reality is that it often costs the team the game. But players who do crap like that are going to cost the team the game anyway. It’s about time more players just leave them I say.

That’s been one line of reasoning that I’ve used.

No, growing up would be not to do this ######### to your fellow players. But I guess we found someone that does it.

    enjoy staying on the hook

Seems to me the debate is basically what I thought it might be. Do you sacrifice the altruism points and flush the garbage, or do you perpetuate bad behavior by getting the points?

My biggest concern has been that if I just walk away, they will sit there and smash the button until they waste a second survivor’s time, and then suicide right before that guy saves them because lolzs. So then they manage to double dip on their toxicity.

Anyone have any experience with that possibility? Or do they just suicide themselves?

I go for the points and unhook.

Even if they hit Struggle because of their own stupidity, that's another hook state the Killer has to earn. I hate idiots who do this, but if they get some cheap thrill out of it I really don't care. I do sometimes turn around for a couple steps as if I'm going to leave them, just to let them know I am not amused by their antics.

I'm not above being petty at times and selfishly doing my own thing while others can rot, but it's only ever because they are Jedi Warriors trying to out-Force the Killer, or if they screw me over in some other way like dragging the Killer to me even though I'm already injured and they are untouched.

Accept the fact there are morons in the game and just play around them to the best of your ability.

Might as well try to get some free points if I'm about to get rescued anyways. It's only a 4% chance so it probably doesn't happen most of the time and even if it does, you still get points for healing them. If somebody kobes when I'm about to save them I think it's hilarious because kobes are always cool. The only time it's not cool is when you go to stage 2 for no reason but I think most people know not to do that

Leave them and let them search for a new game. Its not like the queue time is long or anything (as Killer).
