Random map pick - How does it work
A question for devs/mods or someone who knows it 100%
I would love to understand how the map pick truly works!
There are 15 realms and 35 maps, if the game picks a random map does it pick first 1 realm out of 15 and then a random a map out of this realm. Or does it realy pick a random map 1 out of 35?

It selects a random 1 map out of 35, to the best of my knowledge. However I have no official sources for this as the Wiki doesn't tell me

Don't forget that it seems like the game looks what killer you currently play and therefore gives you the worst map to play that one

IIRC it selects a realm first, to ensure all realms have the same probability.

I mean, I've had whole days with nothing but two maps (unless specific offerings were used), and that makes a "random selection" seem pretty improbable. Maybe that's just me, though.

When you play killer, it selects the worst map for your killer
When u play survivor, it selects the map you hate the most.

I think it picks a map at random, I read somewhere (it may be my imagination) that it used to pick realm then map but since some realms have only 1 map it skewed the selection a lot so now its a map at random.

Even if some realms have only one map i still prefer this way, getting 5 Autohavens in a row is not fun.

I'm pretty sure Mclean has explained this before on his stream.
It starts with realm selection, where it picks a realm (where sometimes some realms have a higher probabality than others)
Then it picks a map from that realm.

Take on account Midwich, The Game, Mother's Dwelling and Lery would appear a lot more often.

I swear some killers have a bias as to what maps they go to. I swear I go to Coldwind farms frequently if I try to play either Legion or Spirit.

It should be a roll for the realm and then another roll for the map in that realm. Doing it by just all maps together seems like bad design.

Same! I’ve had many days where I only got auto haven and other days where I got the game 3 times in a row, etc. Definitely doesn’t work as intended.

It seems like it picks 1 map everyday to send you to over and over and over again.
Usually with corn. Cause the entity hates me
