PC - Self unhook skips 2nd state

Step 1 - get hooked
Step 2 - Unhook self on last escape attempt (This can be just before second stage, third attempt, or last attempt with slippery meat, etc.)
Step 3 - Get hooked a second time
Step 4 - Die instantly as you no longer get a struggle phase (the bug)

Happened even to me 1 year ago. Hard to replicate

This just happen to me, is this a bug or something new added? I unhooked self on last attempt and die on second hook.
