With exactly *170* perks so far, why not a 5th perk slot then?

Enough is enough, it is about time to add a 5th slot!

I personally don't like the idea of a 5th perk slot. The devs would need to look into every single variable it might affect and some might slip through and the entire game balance would change. Besides there are only 5 totems and if you run haunted and all hexes, one perk gets left out. You can say make 6 totems but then it would have an impact on how strong inner strength or perks like noed alone can get and then it...it shakes up too much in terms of balance

At most of the build 5th perks are not that useful. Most of the both the killer and the survivor perks are quite useless. So 5th perk slot is not that necessary.

Do you realize how many changes will have to be done for a 5th perk slot? It'd be a disaster!

Totem builds with more than 5 totems (haunted), what would happen there?

    Ruin/undying/bbq/tinkerer/corrupt would be the meta

Dance with me/lithe/quick and quiet/iron will/lucky break of distortion would make every survivor hoodini

Forever builds will become meta once again.

    I think we should not

Just because both sides have it, doesn't mean its balanced.

That's 4 extra perks the killer has to deal with vs 1 on the survivor side. And that not looking at WHAT is going in those slots.

That would throw off the balance of this game even more, it's build around people having max 4 Perks at any time.

To many variables to do this without having to accept that it will be chaos for over a year.

If they wanted too they could add like 4,5 perk slots were some of the weaker perks count as halfperks and can be taken as a 5th.

That would be a way to implent it and (slightly) reduce the chaos that would follow

The whole perk system needs a rework. We don´t need 3 tiers of each perk. Especially when the first tier even does more harm than good (Autodidact anyone?)

So yes, a 5th perk slot would be nice.

I'd advocate for cleaning up the perks first. there's a lot that could be combined into one perk.

Ruin doesn´t work together with Surge or Pop.

Killers can equip Ruin, Pop, Corrupt and Lullaby right now. But even that won´t stop the insane speeds at which gens are done right now.

Because nothing would stop Survivors from running:

Adrenaline - Dead Hard - Iron Will - Unbreakable - DS

Also, let's not give Freddy players the ability to slow down gens even more.

So, the more perks we got, the more slot? There is a moment we will have enough to be like: we need a 6th slot.

Four is enough in my opinion. We have to make choice: do I take this perk? Should I use this combo?

Also, I feel four slots encourage me to change my build from time to time to test different things. The more slot I got, the less I would feel the need to change and experiment.

Yeah, you see a combo of 2. Not a combo of 4. Changing the max amount of perks won´t change that.

Because a Build like this would be dumb as hell. In general, someone who uses Ruin and PGTW or Ruin and Corrupt does not put much thought into their Perk Builds.

    @Topic:

The game is balanced around 4 Perks. You cannot just throw in a fifth Perk, just because there are so many Perks.

The game is also balanced around low rank solo players. SWF on coms are a much greater threat to the balance than the additional perk slots.

    Yet SWF exists.

As a killer I would like a 5th perk slot but I think it would do me more harm than good. Survivors have a lot of good perks and Id rather not let them bring more to the match.

So you want survivors to have five second chance perks stacked together? Think about an entire SWF stacking things like Adrenaline, Borrowed Time, Dead Hard, Unbreakable, and Soul Guard together. Do you really think that something like that would be fair?

  • XombieRocker

That would be a massive boost to survivors.

There could be 1000 perks and I'd still say no to a fifth perk slot. If anything needs to change, it's that it needs to be easier to get the perks you want. The sheer number of perks available actively disincentivizes me from unlocking teachables because of how difficult it will make it to see the perks I want. That needs to change sooner than later. But a fifth perk slot? No. The game was not balanced around that.

How about cutting out the perk tiers?

I agree with you, but... just...

Who the ######### runs three hex perks and then Haunted Grounds?

That sounds like a stupid build I came up with once, though:

Hag with Undying, ToTH, Retribution, and Spirit Fury. The survivors had no idea what was happening.

The reason why we have 4 perk slots is to prevent survivors and killers from using perk builds that would completely break the balance of the game more than it already is
