The Trickster should be a shapeshifter
Really. If you read up on the mythology of tricksters their chief ability is to impersonate or shapeshift. It would be a far more interesting killer to play against than some cheesy looking dude with knives.

- That concept would never work in a game like dbd.
- The Trickster is called that because he preforms tricks with his knifes.

I agree but the game engine probably wont allow for a power like this. If you go back to legions teasers then you will see how much they butchered their power due to programming issues.

- Trickster doesn't always mean they know some magical stuff to trick people, infact the new killer is a killer who does tricks with his Kunai's and his Baseball bat, with him throwing alot quickly and, with the add-on, can have him bounce off the walls, and he literally spins a baseball bat when doing a recovery attack
- SWF would completely slaughter a ShapeShifter killer

1) Never work? Why? It’s just coding. Killer takes the shape of the person they wound. How hard is it to change a skin? No harder than developing any other power I’d imagine.
2) I know the rationale behind why he is called that, and it doesn’t change that its a crap name for the character. Plenty of other people have given more appropriate titles for him.

Swf can potentially slaughter ANY killer, but just because it’s a shapeshifter doesn’t mean that it couldn’t have any other abilities. He could cast illusions as well along the lines of Doctor or Freddy. A character like this could put paranoia through the roof.

SWF completely eliminates the possibility of a shape-shifting killer
3 -
That just shows your lack of imagination.

Tell me some of your ideas for a shape-shifting killer that can work when discord exists instead of saying I lack imagination.
1 -
Already did. Shapeshifting wouldn’t be the only power. There are plenty of killers whose primary abilities don’t work against swf groups. That’s what add ons and perks are for. Shapeshifting doesn’t have to work long term to be effective. Even a couple of seconds can mess players up.
0 -
For instance, shapeshifter enters a group of players, hits one of them: FLASH! All players are blinded for one second. When they can see again, there are two Neas. Which is which? Think fast before you get hit. Even an swf group would have a hard time communicating fast enough to counter something like that.

Well then he just has a part of his power that wouldn't work once a team figures it out. He is just missing out on a part of his power. Imagine if the Pig didn't have her ambush, she wouldn't be able to use a big part of her kit.
2 -
Even without being in a swf her ambush doesn’t usually amount to much. Good thing she has her traps.

The ambush itself is, the stealth is what you are going to use most of the time and is actually pretty useful.

Not against somebody using spine chill, which is probably most of us. Stealth is handy, but can be countered easily. Shapeshifting could have the same ability of shutting off terror radius and could even be made to deactivate spine chill for added effectiveness. The visual aspect of the power is only part of what could make it a good killer to go against.

But for spine chill all you have to do is look away when approaching a survivor on a generator or hiding.
1 -
Yeah but his main aggressive power is countered directly by comms, the secondary ability would also be underwhelming too
It just isn’t meant for this kind of game

And? So?
Honestly I don’t understand your point. Not all counters are foolproof but that doesn’t mean they’re totally ineffective.
That said, I have never and I mean ever been completely surprised by Pig while running spine chill. Ever. If he has ever gotten close enough to use his pounce it is because I allowed him to. Pig entering spine chill range without him setting it off at least once is extraordinarily unlikely.

1. That's a non argument built from lack of imagination.
2.throwing a knife isn't much of a trick. Of course if you bounce it then we will talk but it's overall a poor name.

How would shapeshifting be considered “aggressive”? Ultimately it isn’t any different from any other stealth ability. Wraith’s cloaking ability isn’t that effective either. It doesn’t fool anybody. But it’s what makes him unique. It’s the other abilities aside from stealth that makes killers like Myers, pig, and wraith deadly. It would be the same for a shapeshifter.

I don’t know about shape shifting but he should be able to do more ‘tricks’.
1 -
There are multiple ways to make this happen 1 if the killer can shape shift then why can't they change the survivors appearance
even hide it to that outline when they first added reque removing all shape and color to the afflicted player
2 they can have several decoys that look different like imagine mirage ult in apex
What are they gonna do in a swf say this ones not real

Why does shape shift have to mean stealth? Literally just have it shape shift into different forms. Like give it 2 or 3 modes of attack. Just think of a killer who can m1 in one form have some sort of crowd control in another and then a ranged attack in the 3rd. Make em a 110 or even better make them the only killer that can at will switch between 110 and 115. M1 is reserved for 115 and the other 2 ideas are reserved for 110.

Lul no that's dumb

You’re right, and it doesn’t. You also make some very good point on how to create a shapeshifter that wouldn’t be walked over by an SWF group.
See? This is what happens when people begin using their brains and imagination instead of immediately shooting ideas down as “impossible”.

How is it "lack of imagination"?
A shapeshifting killer would simply just suck. They'd be unplayable against swf (because the survivors can just ask each other who they're with) and it would only work a few times against solo-que players before people start catching on. Unless the shapeshifting killer had some sort of strong secondary ability to make up for their first one sucking, no one is gonna play them.

Lol. I'll just quote myself and repeat myself. Lack of imagination.
0 -
It’s a lack of imagination because you can only imagine one scenario where impersonation might fail against an swf group (which btw most players don’t play swf). There are other scenarios that can happen where verbal communication wouldn’t solve a damn thing. But again, you need to have an actual imagination. I’m not going to do your thinking for you.
