What Trapper builds do you use?

I'm a rank 1 killer but I have not put a lot of hours into Trapper. Considering he is very bad at gen defense I have been using Pop, Corrupt, Surge, and Oppression to keep the gens from popping. Does anyone have any other good builds I can use for Trapper in Red Ranks?

I don't feel like trying on Trapper and mainly play him to chill.

    Thrilling tremors

Remember Me (trap exit gates too)

    Brutal Strength (don't have pop)

    Corrupt Int

Remember me can be nifty when using addons which injure upon disarming or take longer to disarm.

    my current one is:

    • Corrupt Intervention
    • Pop Goes The Weasel
    • Brutal Strength
    • Monitor & Abuse

    I'm currently using:

    -Discordance

    -Surge

    -Pop

    -STBFL

It's a very aggressive build. With no Corrupt you don't have any time for setup at the start of the match, but the Disco/Surge/Pop combo is nuts at helping you defend and regress gens and Save the Best is an absolute beast of a perk in the late game. You can do a lot of exciting clutch plays.

Personally I would swap out surge with surveillance other then that pretty good build

  • malatruse
    malatruse Member Posts: 784

    Pop

    Discordance

    STBFL

    BBQ

It's gotten me pretty far. Paired with dark traps and a bag addon, of course.

depends on the day. here's what I used last

bbq, pop, agitation, surveillance (I was doing a basement challenge, that why I used agitation)

but STBFL is really good on him, corrupt intervention(for that easier early game to set up).

third seal (with the addon that makes people go down if they escape by themselves).

remember me(no one can open gates with you around).

surge(you m1 a lot, and this saves time you might not have as a set up killer).

trail of torment isn't all that good on him but I really like being undetectable, helps against OoO aswell.

whispers (helps knowing if someone is around to see you put down a trap)

    also the generics

ruin + undying - personally I don't like this, but it does work

devour + undying - this is much better, and with traps you can potentially hide that you have this until you have 5 stacks (also, trapper is the best character at defending totems, bar none)

Twins is probably the best totem defender in the game imo

    I usually run

    STBFL

    Infectious

    Pop

    Corrupt

    Or if I'm feeling nasty

    Devour Hope

    Undying

    Corrupt

    Pop

    Corrupt, Surge, Agitation, STBFL

Agitation is nice for getting survivors into my territory so survivors going for saves are under threat of my traps.

You could switch Surge for Pop if you prefer.

    Corrupt

    NOED

Last 2 perks I change depending on how I'm feeling. Agitation is good to get them to a trap heavy zone, sometimes Pop, sometimes chase perks like enduring/spirit fury.

Corrupt, Pop, Thrilling Tremors (Surge is an alternative) and STBFL is my favorite build for Trapper.

Ruin, STBFL, BBQ. 4th perk depends on my mood or the survivors: Franklin, MYC, Discordance, Agitation.

Franklin's is really fun if you trap a survivor's item around a decent loop you lock down the loop and the item.

Ruin is my Corrupt. I expect it to last a minute or two tops and behaves similarly provided I apply a little pressure during set up. Upside that if the hex is well hidden or easily trappable it can give the gen slowdown the Trapper really needs.

After watching Otz play Trapper and personal experience, STBFL is very good for trapper as he's just an m1 killer once his traps are laid.

Trapper bags that hold 2 extra traps, the darkest trap dye, or quick trap setting , and an indoor map offering. Middle school, Hawkins, or Leary’s. As long as have that, I could care less about perks. Maybe Enduring.

Even with trap darkening add ons, without grass I find indoor maps a challenge with trapper... Am curious to know your strategy.

I typed a response to this which was lengthy, but it was deleted for some reason, and o don’t want to do it over, so I will summarize by saying the doorways are tiny, and abundant, survivors aren’t always watching where the step indoors.

    Sneaky Trapper Build:

    Trail of torment+Dragons Grip+Oppression+BBQ.

ToT makes you undetectable and highlights gen for survivors, DG Discourages survivors from immediately tampering with said gen or getting exposed, Oppression will give you a direction to go with the missed skill check, BBQ is just my preference. If you need time to pre set up swap it for Currupt.

    ____________-----___________.

    Snowball basement build:

Agitation, Iron Grip, Mad Grit, Save the best for last.

    Simple gnarly Trapper basement build.

Bring yellow or purple trap bag. Pre place 4 or 5 traps at basement (out of the way like near back lockers and side cubby to make sure you don't step into one carrying a survivor). If at shack, place one either in pallet doorway or just outside window. Force-carry a survivor to the basement, pick up your basement traps and litter the stairs and landing.... Wait for the avalanche 😈

You could use a tracking perk instead of oppression. Personally I would drop surge unless you get a lot of value from it.

Pop, corrupt, STBFL and aditation. The last perk though is usually what I swap around depending on as do most. Thing is, Corrupt and pop are basically mandatory usually.

I play Trapper a lot- but I do so generally in hopes of getting destroyed so I don't even run those perks most of the time; I generally use trapper as a derank and chill killer before playing a killer I am new or rusty with.

  • EvilJoshy
    EvilJoshy Member Posts: 5,295

Funny. My friend also plays trapper when he wants to derank but he keeps getting noobs and ends up ranking up. He even changes his name to We_Trap_Da_Basement and people still go down there.

    GodLikeTerror Member Posts: 1,054

Corrupt, STBFL, Shadowborn, BBQ. Swap shadowborn out if you would like for something else like whispers or swap BBQ out for whispers to make sure nobody is watching you set down traps.

  • [Deleted User]
    [Deleted User] Posts: 5,229

Yeah it's funny; but if I try and play a killer I am new with, nothing but red rank SWFs all day haha.

I literally just had a game where I tried to take them out of basement because I was in a game end position at 5 gens and I didn't want that it's boring- and I accidentally still "killed" them all because they kept stepping in traps and disconnecting.

Who needs Gen slow down? The real fun is when 5 Gen done.

Him, I'm seeing a trend here.

And I seem to be sitting on the far edge of a distant cousin of that trend:

Distressing / Unnerving Presence / Iron Grip / Agitation - works well for me as a basement trapper

  • CANxOFxCORN
    CANxOFxCORN Member Posts: 204

    Basement Trapper

Agitation, Iron Grasp, Monstrous Shrine, HEX: The Third Seal

Pre-Game, by setting traps at or around basement. If killer shack, the window, and 1 doorway (If it is a K-Shack on the outside facing a wall, I like to trap the back door, allowing for me to easily access the front). If its not a killer shack, place them in places you normally would, just close by.

Ideally you flush them out running them towards the basement (If possible collecting traps along the way).

Once one is downed, Agitation combined with Iron Grasp insure you make it to the basement.

Monstrous Shrine now comes into play, making the rescue more urgent.

Place traps in the stairwell, to make a rescue that much harder to successfully happen.

The fourth perk is optional, however I really like HEX: A Third Seal, the blindness wrecks solo queues when you get them, and if it is taken out, you still have your base build regardless.

Note: I usually get a 3-4k with this unless facing the god squad swf, in which case i still get the 1-2k, however, usually no one gets unhooked which means you will only get to chase/hook each survivor typically once. Resulting in your end game BP being like 13k-22k. NOT a great BP Build, but very effective. Also for what ever reason, even tho you arent camping/tunneling, this build is frowned upon by a lot of survivors. The Game, and Lerys are horrible maps for this build. However Haddonfield becomes one of the best, basement is ALWAYS at the Strode house.

    Agitation

    iron Grasp

    Nemesis

    play with your food

take them where you want them. Preferably a well trapped area or basement for your leisure. I’ve played games with this build where I never had to strike a single survivor and had 4K.

This is my current Trapper build trying to get survivors in basement with Agitation and then proxy camp a bit defending close gens perhaps but not letting basement out of sight.

Why would you want to, the only totem really worth protecting is devour

  • Alice_pbg
    Alice_pbg Member Posts: 6,556

    irrelevant.

if you wanna protect multiple totems at once, trapper can do it easily. twins can only cover one, and they are basically powerless while doing it

Actually not, it requires 4 unique hooks before 5 Gen done.

Some map like MacMillan store house & Nurse map have titles further away from the main buildings, make it impossible to collect traps.

Swamp realm too, traps just spawn at the very corner.

No trap set up , no game

Fair enough if we are still talking about trapper, but I was speaking more generally at that point.

Man I played on new Cortus yesterday, your trap spawns are GARBAGE on that map like holy cow I had nothing to work with.
