Whats the point of the Killer hook counter?
The hook counter doesn´t count hooks but hook states. There´s a huge difference between 4 kills and 12 hooks. Someone who camps 4 hooks to death counts as a 12 hook game. Which is just inaccurate.

Scoring should changed to count hook states and not just hooks imo.

That's very counter-intuitive, if killers can't also see the number of hook states each survivor has gone through. Hopefully it's just an oversight, perhaps from an earlier version when killers could see each survivor's hook state or something.

Ahh, i was wondering why i got 12 "hooks" after killing all with Devour Hope.
Not even taking into account the issue you bring up; the icon is a Hook, yet i fill it up with kills of my own doing.
Is kinda weird devs, ngl.

Personally I like it because it lets me figure out how close I am to winning- for example if I'm 6 hooks in and only have 3 bbq stacks I know that everyone I've seen before is dead and I can focus on those 3 before finally going for last one. It's just some nifty info that I enjoy.

Well they decided Killers shouldn't be allowed the same information as Survivors, so they had to come up with a nerfed version of hook counters. Thus we have this pointless addition.

Now you can see numbers go up instead of down.

Because people would likely complain if it was the other way around.
It's counting up to 12 hooks, if 2 survivors go into second stage on their first hook, you'll be 2 points behind where you think you should be on the wheel.
Its best to think of the wheel as survivors "lives", they have 12 total, if they die on 1st hook it still counts as losing all 3 lives. It's a way for you to count your progress to complete victory I think rather than a way to count your actual "hooks"

They could change that to add some lore flavor or even balance changes in the future. I'd like to see more of the killer x entity dichotomy.
According to the wiki, the Entity has "the intent of feeding on its victims' strongest emotions" and " is described as an "Emotion Vampire", with sustenance coming in the form of strong emotions, such as the Killer's rage and anger, or the Survivors' desperation, hope or even affection towards other Survivors."
Hooking a survivor could count as an act of devotion by the killer, awarding certain benefits during a match. Meanwhile, if the killer camps for hook stages, he wouldn't be granted those benefits as they "deprived" the Entity of the emotions it could've been fed.

I find it useful myself as a measure of personal performance. In games not going well I'll set a personal goal of trying to get them at least over the halfway mark so I don't feel like such a complete and utter failure as a killers. LOL

I´m so proud i camped those 4 survivors and it counted as 12 hook perfect match.

It's not inaccurate it is still 12 hooks if the killer managed to guard that hook so good that all four survivors died on hook. That takes a lot of skill try to get 12 hooks that way against SWFs it's impossible 😀

Honestly if you can straight up camp four survivors to death, that kinda deserves some pride. You gotta seriously potato to screw up generators if the Killer is just playing British Royal Guard for like 8 minutes straight.

It's really quite useless because it just gives you a sum of the hooks, which doesn't effect how you play the match at all.
I suppose you could argue it's there to encourage 12 hooking but honestly killers are gonna proxy camp a hook sometimes if it means an easy second stage, so again, what's the point of the counter.

It's still useful to tell you how close you are to ending/winning the game. If it really annoys you that much, then just ignore it. It's actually very useful for tournament/high level playoffs.

It's better at teaching killers to follow their objective and progress in relation to the generators that's survivors main goal. I imagine it's also there to teach killers to also get more hooks, rather than just camping without a reason.

I was binge watching a killer playing on YouTube and they always struggle to even count the exact number of hooks. It seems so useless that you can't tell how many at a glance unless you're close to no hooks or close to twelve hooks.

Something that's base kit, not just for killers who already choose to play normally, like making entity progress slower the closer the killer is.

I thought it was useless at first too, and to be fair it is for the most part. However, to my surprise i've actually been able to get value out of it more than I realized I would.
I like to two hook all survivors before I go for the kill, and before I would often loose track of how many hook stages i've gotten which has led me to kill a survivor before I intended. Now even thought it doesn't tell you who those hook stages belong to, i've still been able to use it to help me infer who is on what hook stage.
The easiest example is there are still four survivors left in the match. I have seven hook stages, so that means there are three with two hook stages and one with just one hook stage. Obviously if you have good memory you could probably remember this yourself, but I tend to forget a lot. Especially if a survivor hits second stage on their first hook and I don't catch it.
