Seriously why isn't this a feature? If I knew the game was going to be laggy af even though my ping is 40 I wouldn't play. I dont even get why I'm matched with players across the world, it's not fun to either have teleporting survivors or bad hits when pallets are fully dropped. Surely this isn't much to ask?

Probably because many people would lobby dodge if everyone in the game didn't meet their minimum ping requirements
