Removing Smurfs from DBD

...and possibly hackers.

I'm proposing to make it mandatory to link your BHVR account with your game to play it. Or make something akin to that.

Now, now, hear me out:

We've all seen THAT survivor/killer's steam profiles: absolutely blank page, steam level 1, hidden friends, hidden games and statistics, stupid and provocative nickname. These people - kind of annoying most of the time, right? But why are there so many of them?

My guesses are:

1) DBD can be bought very cheap throughout the year on sales. And that's ok, I'm not here to badmouth it.

2) DBD is shareable through Steam Family Sharing. You can have 1 "main" account with all the DLCs and just share it to your "smurf" account. Yes, you will start with lvl 1 on all characters, but with the knowledge and experience from your main acc. a lot of doors will open for you to just ######### around in other people's games (don't forget - you will start out playing on extremely low tiers with these smurf accounts).

AND, you can even cheat with it... Now, this is where I start speculating because I don't have any 100% accurate info on this topic but still, hear me out.

Here, the wording is kind of vague but as I understand it the moderator refers to this specific Steam guideline: "Your Family Sharing privileges may be revoked and your account may also be VAC banned if a borrower cheats or commits fraud."

As I understand it, if someone cheats in a VAC-SECURED GAME - they and their shareable accounts will get banned, no surprise there, Valve is pretty strict with their VAC bans. BUT, DBD is not a vac-secured game.

So I don't think there is any repercussion at all for cheating on your shareable DBD account, getting banned. And just creating another steam profile to share your game to again.

That is why I'm proposing for this change. Making steam accounts is easy. Making one and linking it with BHVR account (which you also have to create) is harder and allows BHVR to have more control over hackers/smurfs. Similar system is already at work in games like R6:Siege and CS:GO. It doesn't remove smurfs/hackers completely but it helps.

Again, not 100% sure how this works but still it's an idea. And I'd like to hear what you think about it.
