Sweaty games - lack of motivation

Hey guys,

So thanks to really unfair matchups lately I've deranked from 1-2 to 8. It's so hard dealing with this game right now, and together with playing solo survivor 90% of the time this has made me lose my motivation.

I can't remember the last time I faced a killer with higher rank than 4. My teammates are all the way up to 15 and I find myself mostly rescuing them or getting killed early. The games have been so try hard that my brain is exploding. I've been trying diffrent builds, but no matter what I try the builds always seem to be useless or countered.

This is not meant to be a competitive game, and I just want to have a good time playing. But all of my games lately are just so frustrating, lopsided for the killer and just so try hard and SWEATY.

My last game, we were 2 survivors that spawned by the exit gate at Leary's. We didn't even make it inside the lobby before we heard the killers terror radius, both trying to hide but the Bubba knew we where in the room and downed us both with his chainsaw. We had nothing to work with. Hooked us at 2 close hooks and camped us both roaming between. The 2 others got downed trying to rescue us, no one but me had BT, and the game was over in 2 minutes. I got like 700 BPs..

This is just an example of many frustrating games lately. Waiting 10 minutes for a game like this just sin't worth it.

I feel like I need a break if I can't find my motivation again. How do you guys deal with this?

Being rank 1-2 and not getting killers that are above rank 4 is normal, at least for me.

Getting rank 9 and 13s in your team of survivors when ur playing solo ... is completely messed up and demoralizing.

However... the vice-versa can happen as well. This is a screenshot from a couple of days ago.

Matchmaking is broken, what a surprise. I could've taken more screenshots like this, but I didn't bother.

I've farmed with the other 2 that escaped, hence why they have such high scores. The game ended really fast

    ------

Then again, looks like you developed a burnout and some frustration.

I would recommend taking a break, at least a couple of days and try your luck again.

Also yeah, Que times for survivor right now are terrible. I feel your pain.

I have the same frustration as well, it's not nice and I reckon it all boils down to BHVR not having a vision for their game. There's no set objective so it's all over the place and some killers just like to get the one hook kills and other swf teams just like to rush gens and t bag at the exit gates.

It's tough on both sides and it's hard to find that balance between stomping and being stomped that makes the game rewarding and fun atm.

That being said I do a few things to lessen the frustration.

-Play with a friend if you play survivor, just a duo is fun to play with and you can take the game less seriously if there's someone there to keep you level-headed and discuss your frustrations with or just meme a bit.

-Play the other side, just play the other side of the game if one is being very frustrating, that usually helps keep things in perspective for me

-Take a break, obvious and simple but it's necessary sometimes. Just be glad you're not one of those streamers who is now stuck only playing this game to be able to keep their channel/stream alive. Play something else. I hear Civ is a good game.

-Dont go in expecting to survivor or 4k. Set a low goal like simply doing a rift or getting mettle of man to proc, god bless Scoot Bund patron saint of mettle of man and flops. This helps me to focus on something else and by passively using what I know to get that goal I'm learning and achieving my goals.

It's difficult not to get frustrated in this game since by its nature it is a pyramid of difficulty and frustration of solo queue, killer then swf and no in-between with no set 'win' condition officially stated. Just try to have fun and if you're queuing up again like a gambler who lost again and again just cut your losses and take a break. A lot of doing well in this game is mentality.

TL;DR: Take breaks, play the other side, find a duo partner and set lesser achievable goals rather than getting out or killing everyone every game. This isn't life or death, just take it easy and remember that it's a silly arcade-y game about trying not to get stabbed by spider legs before you can pull a lever for 12 seconds :)

    Thanks for the reply guys.

I have decided to take a break for a while, and only play if I can get some friends to join in and enjoy the game with.

Hoping to get my motivation back soon.

Contrary to popular belief, games as survivor can be frustrating too.

I would say the first thing you should go prepared with is to not expect to get an amazing team. It just eases the frustration when you already know you might get hooked, and absolutely no one is on a gen, instead they are hiding or in a locker.

As for your build, I would say bring at least a couple of meta perks, DS and BT would be my top choices, this guarantees that there will be an obsession and the killer won’t be so easily camping, at least not without knowing someone could have it. This also gives you an extra chance should your teammates farm you and there is a locker nearby.

The next thing to know if you’re probably gonna carry a lot of the aggro. It is something solo queue teammates refuse to engage in for the most part. So I would definitely bring some kind of exhaustion perk and maybe even a medkit to heal yourself.

Usually when I play in solo, I just keep telling myself to do my best with the situation i am thrown in. Because literally that is what it will be.

It's like you said sometimes you have to take a break from this game. I've just come back after a month off and it helps a lot. But I have to agree that I've been playing this game for a long time and the overall experience has been going down over the last year honestly.

Try playing at a diferent time; long queue means that you will probably get a rainbow lobby. I've learned that if I play survivor past 7 pm it will either be easy since I get paired with a green rank killer as a red rank survivor or absolute mayhem due to an inexperienced team and a rank 1 killer. I either play killer past this time or adjust my survivor playstyle to what the team needs. I have gotten crappy results with rainbow teams but also good ones, sometimes a team like that needs you to run the killer while they do gens. The matches they all hide are a loss since I can't do everything but at least I get some chase practice.

So I'm not the only rank 1 killer to get 7-16 survivors, happy to see that, I often feel bad after a game... oh and, are you a Billy main ? It's more rare than gold in red ranks !

And, yep, my games when I play survivor are also "garbage", urban evasion players to the opposite side of my hook, self-care while suffering Sloppy,... That's pretty rude to 3 gen run a killer and to die on the first hook because... No reason ?

Just take a break, as they say : "just play another game" :p you'll be fine after a little break
