there should be an option to toggle chat filter.
I think people should have an option to toggle the chat filter on and off. I only say this because i dont mind what people say and Its my right to have free speech. Sure people can turn it on and im not against it for people who want it, but this is a Mature rated game people should have the choice on this imo

While I agree with you, I get the impression that you feel that this was implemented to hide curse/swear words when it's actual purpose is to censor derogatory terms and slurs, which I'm sure everyone can agree, are far worse than regular swear words.

Exactly! I think the people who can handle survivors getting impaled on meat hooks, stabbed with knives, and literally getting their tongue ripped out can handle a few bad words. One time I said the first part of the new survivors name (yun-jin?) It censored it!

yea i think it is good for those who are sensitive but i am a FIRM believer of freedom of speech. Just put an option to toggle.

Freedom of Speech is there to protect citizens from being censored by the State. It does not apply to private organisations (such as BHVR).
Like someone already mentioned, the only words that are going to be censored are derogatory slurs. It is not an issue.
Not wanting to be subject to hateful speech does not make someone 'sensitive'.

Yes it should.

Actually I would not agree. Sure I believe in freedom of speech but it doesn't protect against speech that is ment to cause harm to people. Derogatory words and phrases are meant to cause harm create unnecessary discord between people and thereforr shouldn't be protected at all.

That is only if you would take it personally. I realize the things they say are ONLY because i got the best of them in a video game. Sure some of the things people say is derogatory and explicit but again this is on a person to person basis. I am fine with either or but I am for freedom of speech/expression. I let them vent it out move on. Censoring all because of the actions of some is a bit extreme.

Clearly they are a bit mores sensitive than others if words bother them. Sure the private organization has the right to have censorship be part of their policy but again.. People should have the right to toggle the filter on or off. I should be able to do this if I want whether or not someone else does or not. I would love to see a poll of peoples opinion on this.

Actually with freedom of speech all speech is protected, take it from someone who lives in a country that doesnt have true freedom of speech the land that developers call home.
As an example, lets say i dislike a group of people, lets say the Irish (for the record i have no issue with Irish people). Now if i wrote a book about all the reasons i dislike the Irish even while using derogatory terms and slurs, while not actually calling for any action against Irish people, and sold that book out of the trunk of my car, I wouldnt be breaking any laws and that speech would be protected.
In a land without free speech (Cough... Canada... Cough) I could be jailed or fined, for producing that book.
Derogatory words and phrases are not always meant to be harmful, we can see this with the N word and the hip hop industry, or when girlfriends walk up to each other and say hey (swear word meaning female dog).
Context matters, and while you may disagree with what someone says, its your freedom of speech that allows you to have discourse about it. Meanwhile I'll keep looking over my shoulder while hoping i dont get arrested for singing along with dr. Dre in my car.

Like you said, BHVR has the right to censor these words.
And also, aren't the forums much more heavily censored? But I don't see any threads about a forum chat filter toggle.
