Why dc as killer? Why not just ride it out?

I never really understand why a killer chooses to dc in a game, especially if the game is close to over. I've had times, as the killer, where I've definitely wanted to in some ways but I choose not to still.

For example, yesterday I had 3 games back to back with rank 1 survivor squad in the first one, second was all red, and the last was red with some purple. Each game had 3 gens done within the first few minutes and it gets old in back to back games. I just decided to stare at a wall and just goof around. Definetly better than dcing imo. I was a baby plague (like level 15) so I expected to lose but didn't expect to lose that badly.

I never DC but i wouldn't stare at a wall either. I just play the game to see how it turns out.

I generally do that honestly but if I get multiple rank 1 swf flashlight games back to back with super fast gens it just gets to me. I really enjoy the game and don't mind losing necessarily but to get shut down so early on just isnt fun

If you were just staring at a wall or goofing off...then you also gave up. Since you wanted to keep playing, you waited it out but others might call it a day or decide to play something else and just DC.

No difference. If they took off the DC penalties again then you’d have less killers goof off and less survivors suicide on hook. Everyone would just DC.

To me goofing around is much different. Dcing not only penalizes you but effects survivors scores and challenges which I think is a shame (not including their own fun). I agree I totally gave up but it at least doesn't negatively effect others while dcing very much does.

Having games where gens get done in first 5 minutes with noed lasting 10 seconds just is rough but not so bad id dc

Only time I DC is midwich. I’m not playing a map that has no gameplay

Ragequitting doesn't really allow for such reasoning you know. Survivors know, they have a lot of experience with it.

I don't do it personally but many on the forums say they do it to deprive the survivors of BP as well as getting out a game they don't like

I don’t DC these days. The only times I’ve ever DC’d as Killer is if I’m just totally fed up with the survivors I’m facing and I know there’s essentially no hope of victory.

Why do people hate midwich so much? I just got back into dbd and feel mixed about it and can't my finger onto why exactly

If you’re playing as survivor you have two options

    1. Hold W
    2. Go to a unsafe pallet and die

It’s just extremely boring and makes killers like hag or clown impossible to play against

The question is why are you getting r1 swf as a r 15?

If it's a really bad match and it's a squad that just want to make the match miserable I won't dc, I'll just go stand in front of the gate switch and watch YouTube until they finish the gens. If you're going to make it your mission to make the other sides match miserable you can't expect them to want to participate.

Same goes for when I'm playing survivor to, if the killers aim is just to make the match rubbish then I'll just move yeet out of there on the hook and move on. I've got way to many hours in this game so I've got to the point where I'm not going to play a match that's going to frustrate me when I can just move on and play another match and save myself from being bothered by it.

not rank 15, level 15 killer but I am rank 6 as killer.

If I know I can't win, I'll go for points. Breakable walls, using my power, and even chasing people grants that, though I may not even hook someone depending on matchmaking. And everything you do as killer grants you a quite fair amount of points, so that's just my goal in those kind of matches.

Please don't DC unless you have either an IRL situation that needs your attention or are actively trapped due to something like a gamebreaking bug. Thank you.

I DC'd last night after I had a clean yoink taken away for some reason (went into the yoink animation on a gen but then the survivor was back on the gen and I was dazed somehow) then I hit the survivor to injure and while I was wiping the blood animation, she finished the gen. I hit her again but she wasn't there, the knife hit the gen and she had DeadHarded away, like a rubber band to somewhere else. It was incredibly frustrating that a gen was finished and the survivor was running away when they should have been on hook and the gen should have been regressing. I was immensely frustrated with that little episode.

While I'm of the opinion that you shouldnt dc and dc'd rightly is a bannable offense.....

....Survivors have shown us it's "okay" to dc to give up, when you dislike a killer, map or strategy used.

Damn, sounds weird to hold killers to that kinda standard, even jokingly.

Yeah if its a wrecking snowball typically I just farm points for myself. Let em have the gens its only a game so who gives a #########.

The only time I consider DC'ing (I'm not condoning it) is when you get a grief squad who just want to waste your time and not do their objective. (this is different from people who want to farm and is often obviously so).

Even then I typically go stare at a corner and make a cup of tea/have a beer. I'll pop the exit gates when the time comes and we can all get less than 10'000 points because my queues are instant so :P

The issue I have is you can dc as survivor and not face a matchmaking Penalty by killing yourself. Very annoying as killer losing tons of penitential points and knowing that it was fine for the survivor. When I play a killer like hag this happens most of the time and really it makes it not very worth it to play her. I enjoy getting points and when im walled from it very frustrating. My current situation is I can either play a "balanced killer" and maybe do well and get points, or I can play a powerful killer and make no BP. Really if a survivor Dcs it makes me want to Dc.

Its just how some people cope with a loss or being angry. Some people have a hard time controlling their emotions or they have the attitude that they should win every single game every time. Me personally if im having a bad game i just start memeing around, or ill practice huntress throws or just be silly with the survivors till they leave, im probably still getting more bloodpoints than them

I remember a while back i had a game where 3 gens were done and the killer (legion) got stuck inside a pallet. He didnt dc so me and my buddy stayed with him vaulting through him and getting hit and healing so he could still get bp while the 2 solos were doing gens. He was a trooper so we did what we could to help him out, had a nice chat after the match too.

I never dc. The ban isn't worth it tbh.

I had a match as Myers and I put Distressing over Whispers. I didn't perform too well, but didn't quit. I just made do with my mistake figuring BP is better than nothing

You all last minute switch characters, send me to haddonfield, and then teabag as a OoO across the map, your asses are waiting 20 minutes for your next match

I'll park myself in a corner if it's a swf with all flashlights AND they have bad manners. If they're tbagging after pallet drops and constantly clicking that's fine- I don't have to play with you. Enjoy your dead match and fifteen minute queue while I make a sandwich and browse on my phone. I'll be in a new game soon enough.

A swf that is respectful however I will give my absolute best. Probably won't win, but we're going to have fun. The manners is the difference.

Map offering and OoO, I usually DC right away. Never understood DCing at the end of a match while survivors are already leaving the exits anyway.

  • killz4fun
    killz4fun Member Posts: 165

You Can learn from these teams..

Sadly there's a lot of toxic survivors in red ranks that someone would rather DC than having their teabaged exits..

Me personally decide to make my own fun and concentrate on just killing one of the toxic ones... and if more come around so be it..

If I load into haddonfield/farm offering and I see OoO tbagging me, I just alt tab and go fix myself a snack or a drink, or watch something on youtube, and let them enjoy their map offering. I play to relax and have fun, not to be toyed with and mocked by some sweat squad.

usually keep trying no matter how much I wanna DC until exit gates are open, then I just shoot at a wall until they escape.

Flashlights are pretty counterable nowadays compared to when they could literally insta blind you. If you get multiple ones in a lobby, I recommend running Lightborn, or Franklin's depending on what you have available, and you can always look at a wall or wait it out to see if you can a flashlight user.

  • Mr_K

In some way they feel they are preventing the loss and punish the survivors by denying an escape.

DCing survivors are just as petty.

I rarely DC as killer (Key word, RARELY - that doesn't mean never)

If I do DC because I was fed up with the game, I never play again for the rest of the night. In most cases, I don't play again for several days. It's a personal rule of mine. DCing then restarting the game immediately is a line I will NEVER EVER CROSS. You'll note, I'm not blaming my opponant for driving me to DC. My mental state is something I should of been aware of. I never expect people to pull punches with me. So I never blame my DC on anybody but myself. I didn't recognize I shouldn't of started the game in the first place and that's on me.

I never DC as survivor. I have given up on the hook, but that's usually when somebody is about to attempt a REALLY DUMB save and I'm just gonna end up hook farmed. In those cases, I'd rather feed the killer a kill than my dumbass teammate points.

Generally I will play it out as long as there is a point in doing so.

I won't lie I will DC at like, peak frustration, but it takes a LOT to do so. Like the last time I disconnected was because sweaty SWFs took me to Haddonfield as an m1 killer for the 5th time in a row and I was just sick of it, so I disconnected, took a break, came back and took a ward just in case.

I will afk if like, gates are powered or 99'd and the survivors are doing the whole nonsense of make me go across the map to each gate, so I can see them t-bag and do whatever else to stall the match and mess with me. If I am trapper I will just go off somewhere and put down and pick up traps to farm points or w/e; or just afk face a wall if I am a killer that can't farm points/at max.

Bully squads are the worst when you are new, I used to DC and AFK against them, but the thing is once you play against them enough and get decent enough at the game- you basically cannot be bullied anymore as killer. You can LOSE, sure, but they can't really bully you anymore (Outside of some few exceptions I suppose, like an OoO swf against a trapper)

Generally though if they have flashlights, they very rarely can get them off since I face walls, check the areas, use agitation, have lightborn on almost anyone if I see like 4 flashlights in lobby, etc...(though I prefer agitation for dealing with flashlights)
