Waiting times at night over 15min
Why is match making taking so long as a survivor at night. 15min wait time per match.
Cross play on
Testing this on my pc and same thing.
Playing as killer it's instant. Well over 35,000 players at all time on steam alone.
Probably well over 250,000 players across all platforms. Yet waiting times are horrible

There's not enough killers, I wonder why...

Play killer for a few hours and you will see why.

250,000 online doesn't mean that many people are available to play against.
- Matchmaking pulls players from your local area (typically a continent, sometimes less) to minimise latency issues. So you likely only have <50,000 players you can possibly be paired with.
- AFK payers who just have the game open. Knock off at least 10%, if not 20%.
- Most of those online players, are in a game. For killers, 90% of them are in a game at any one time because they spend so little time in the lobby.
- So you now have about <5,000 potential players, and 4,700 of them are survivors, all waiting in the queue for a killer.

Nobody wants to play a gimped role
Any streamer who plays killer is only playing because they get paid if they didn't get paid they'd be playing survivor only

Honestly don't bother playing at night, sleep is more important.

I don't mind playing killer. I always team wipe. But at night is my time off and I like to play survivor with the boys. I just wish I could fins games a little quicker.

Two reasons. First, people be SWFing. Second, people be not casual SWFing and so killer is miserable because if you play a killer that can potentially challenge them they might hunt you down irl.

Whilst the numbers are pretty decent, going by those posted, you have to consider that these might not be players in your area. During the night there's obviously going to be a lot less players and as matchmaking is attempting to matchmake you with people in your own server area then it's naturally going to take longer than it would when the server is well populated.

Depends on what time you mean by "night". You're gonna wait longer if it's 4 am vs 8 pm due to most people sleeping at night.
That being said, I live in East coast time, and found that after about 7 pm survivor wait times increase tremendously.
Likely it's because there simply isn't enough killers to match all the survivors (it's a 4 to 1 ratio).
Also, it's widely believed that since most players are in green/purple/red ranks, this also affects how fast you get a game because you have to wait "your turn". So during prime time evenings, survivors usually get a long wait while killers dont.

^ This basically.
Much less people playing killer. At night there are tons of SWF sweat squads, it's like prime time for them. Not really a fun time to play killer in general, especially if you don't wanna play a top tier killer.
The game already has killer issues, night time just exacerbates them.

Not enough people want to play killer. That's the issue. The game needs adjustments to make killer more enjoyable (not necessarily stronger but I do think that may be a factor). Generally people don't like being killer as much.
Another thing that would help would be to allow killers to play against friends in public lobbies and gain BP. I want to play against my friends but gaining nothing for it just isn't motivating. People want to play with friends in some capacity but swf is the only option that gives you stuff unfortunately. Sure people could farm against a friend killer but people do that all the time against randoms plus each match has a bp cap anyways that prevents players from boosting that much anyways

Being bad at killer Isn't fun
Same reason why kill rates are high. Nobody in their right mind wants to spend hours and hours getting destroyed and BM'd when they could at least be playing with friends. Not to mention you need to buy most killers whereas survivors are all the same.

I would love to play more killer but I only play killer for challenges and stick to survivor now. If you can't killem joinem...not going to run springs the map frustrated as hell trying to take down 4 survivors who just love the chase ...followed by body blocks.flashlights, fire crackers etc etc etc oh let's not forget DS.
If they didnt cater so much to have SWF mess about I would have played killer more. Also, killer should be given double amount of bloodpoints for 4k win.
Lastly..this game needs more game modes and options for match making. It is really unfair that SWF is able to use mics .

More survivors online late at night. This also adds to why matchmaking is a mess

It takes .000001 seconds to find a killer game no matter what time of day. Just try killer out.

Wow, that's crazy that when most people IN YOUR REGION are sleeping, that you can't find a match.
This guy thinking that because 35k people are playing, that could all be in China/Australia for you know, that means he should get fast matches

I just did. And waited a bit and then switched back to survivor, because I got a lobby instantly, like always around this time. I could barely switch from Kate to Claudette and boom! In a lobby.
Does this mean now that no-one wants to play survivor and we must buff survivors?

In let's say apex legends / call of duty / mw2 / castle crashers / Rouge company. He'll even borderlands 1 you can find a match hands down in less then 5min at 2-4am.
And i clearly said that on PC alone there are 35k. That is not including Switch,Xbox one, Playstation 4,5. Which is all cross platform.
There is obviously an issue with dbd and match making. You would know this if you played allot of dbd.
The real issue is that even during the day If you search for a match as a survivor it is instant. Less then 30sec.If you do the same at night it is over 9min.
Swapping to killer will find yiu a match almost instantly.
Whether you want to believe it or not there is an issue.
Take almost any other major game tittle for example. You will be put into a match almost immediately. I think there is room for improvement.

And as you said in your region. Match making is not only for my region. How did I manage to meet people from around the world on dbd then ? I myself am in canada and have never ran into another Canadian. They are all Americans. So there is an issue
