Why the hell skins cost you an eye
Why is a single skin, cost more than a dlc. How is that even possible, that a skin that may have not that much effort into making it cost more than a killer. And before the typical fanboy comes and says "you don't have to buy it", what kind of player doesn't want to look good, have you play anything else besides dbd, do you know how online games works. who doesn't want to look like a badass, but behaviour needs that much money to fix the game, oh wait you don't need it for that. you have enough to fix the entire game in a week. but success have arrive to your head right. A shame.

Because people still buy them, so why not

you have enough to fix the entire game in a week.
Source on this?

I agree.

they have made millions. if that's not enough for them to fix the game maybe not in a week, but in a month. then idk what to tell you. and remember this game has been out for 5 years

I know they have a lot of money, but as I understand it, much of that goes into maintaining the dedicated servers and paying the people who design the skins and such.
2 -
There is most likely still left over money despite all that.

It’s capitalism at work. If people weren’t willing to pay that much then they couldn’t charge that much. If you want to see lower prices and more sales, don’t buy them.
3 -
Earlier today I read a rant from someone on the forums who admitted to buying over $1000 worth of DBD content, whether it was skins, cells, DLC, etc.
So yea, there's plenty of people who shrug and buy regardless. It sucks, but until people boycott/say no to the prices, it will stay the same. And just making this clear, it aint going to change.
1 -
it's worthless complaining if you buy them either way.

DUUUUDE! DO YOU KNOW HOW MUCH AN EYE GOES FOR ON THE ORGAN TRANSPLANT MARKET?So... you're uh, selling an eye for $10 American? DM me with the details, I'm an interested buyer.
7 -
it's a say. do you know what says are right?

They are not even finished.....The Legendary Krampus and Oni skins jaws are locked and stiff, and all the menu animations are STILL missing from Minotaur oni and have since it came out.
Like....they charge money for this #########.
7 -
the "legendarys" are mere skins with a bit more effort in them. no special sounds, no new powers, no new mori animations, no custom chase music. nothing special

Let me pose you a question:
Would you rather the skins /which don't affect gameplay) be substantially cheaper at the cost of DLC (which does affect gameplay, by quite a bit actually) being substantially more costly?
Or would you rather the optional things that you don't have to buy remain the expensive things?
Cause honestly I'm perfectly fine with the cheaper things being the things that I actually need if I want to have the entire experience. Sure, it's not cheap by any stretch of the imagination, but if DLC price went up from £8 to £15 to compensate for skins going from £10 to £4 I'd be pretty pissed.
7 -
neither of those. reduce the price of skins. dlc price are fine i guess, but a visual skin with no effort nor anything special shouldn't cost 15 dollars.
2 -
They barely meet like....the requirements of what would constitute a normal skin in most games.
3 -
Well unfortunately its one or the other, welcome to the world of capitalism where things cost money and unfortunately this game is made by one of the most reputable companies out there in terms of employee pay and benefits. They pay their game developers an actual worthwhile salary and so naturally things cost more, not to mention a lot of the money from DBD is used to finance other probjects they're part of too.
So once again, which would you rather cost you the arm and the leg: the DLC or the skin?
3 -
in that case skins. but tell me, do you even know what happens behind curtains, like do you know if they even pay that much to the developers, or they pay more to china. why you think they close any thread talking how they have to pay china.

Chapters are pretty cheap, so I don't mind skins being expensive. I've spent hundreds and I don't mind at all. Just dont buy cosmetics if you don't like the price 🤷♂️
3 -
I see you don't under economics.
You see, the game has set a price point they feel the public will pay. The public is paying this value, therefore there is no reason to lower the price as the demand is such that they can charge the current prices.

"It's a Saying or Exaggeration. You do know what Sayings/Exaggerations are, right?" I think is what you meant to say, so in this ilk, here's a reply for you regarding my initial comment:
It's Humor... You do know what Humor is, don't you?

BHVR: ... wait wha-?
Me interrupting: HOW DARE YOU INSINUATE THAT THEIR TRASHY DLC COMPARES IN ANY WAY TO HOW PRETTY MY CHARACTER LOOKS WHEN I PLAY! 🤬
... 😘

i guess whatever. but it wasn't literal.

Welcome to BHVR

They have made hundreds of millions.***

For that to work a lot of people have to do the same but it won't happen.
Honestly I spent so many hours playing this game that I don't regret my purchases. Sure I wish skins were cheaper or that you could get everything (except licensed stuff) for shards, but it is how it is. Unless people unite nothing will change and I am fine with that because I don't have to own every skin or character that I like.

Better skins costing $15 than DLC.
Seriously, you do not need to buy expensive skins. They're there for people with money to burn. If you want to pretty up your character with real money, then that's your business, but kindly take a moment to recognise how little impact it has on the game and how low-cost the expensive skins allow the rest of the game to be.

People gobble them up. BHVR really lucked out with how loyal the playerbase is. Nothing will stop them from buying skins, not even patches like 4.5.0 and the Twins update. The Legendary skins aren't even complete (they're just normal skins with a higher price tag on them) but people will still buy them unfortunately.
1 -
so you can show off i guess

The price point worked for other games, so they copied it exactly.
0 -
Wait you can buy eyes for $10 bucks?
God I wish they were so I could buy them for my grandparents
Okay but in all seriousness yeah it is dumb. Hopefully 75% of the money goes to the cosmetic designers though, they work really hard on them.

Its the same in almost every game. Skins were cheaper ten years ago, but now this price is normal.
0 -
Common sense.
0 -
Okay but its true you don't have to buy it, and if you really care about looking good in this game LOL, just buy cosmetics with shards. At least they give you a chance to earn them for free unlike a lot of other games.

They close threads like that because of the blatent xenophobic connotations and discrimanotory comments are you okay?!
And yeah, looking at the several outside reports including ones done by the official government of Canada I think it's safe to say that BHVR has some of the best working conditions and salaries in the games development industry.
By any chance are you a fan of SpaceCoconut?

Art is an expensive luxury.

These types of replies aren't helpful and are just dismissing so much. How many people can afford these skins? I want to buy them but I'm not paying $20 for 2 skins. You may have the money but people like me don't. They should make skins at a reasonable and logical price for everyone.

Probably all the 4-man bully SWF streamer squads that wear bright, colorful, obnoxious clothing to tilt the killer even more.
